Out of love for Opal and for her long-lost friend, Pinkie Pie, who has started to call herself Pinkamena, Rarity crafts a doll of Pinkamena, using Opal's hide as improvised materials to finish the doll. Inside the doll, Rarity has placed Opal's heart, believing that Opal, deep down, still loved her "mommy".
In the heat of war, everything becomes unbalanced. Everypony becomes confused, scared, and hurt. But war is nothing compared to what is coming next. During the Equestrian Civil war, between the New Lunar Republic and the Solar Empire when technology was at its peak, a SE transport ship carrying a unknown gas container mysteriously explodes, having the gas container leak and fall onto Earth. After Princess Luna sends a unit of soldiers to retrieve anything useful from the crash, they discover that the gas killed the towns ponies in a nearby town. Upon investigation, one of the soldiers is attacked and breathes in some of the gas, slowly and painfully killing him. After he is returned to base and is examined, his body is walking amok the base and is infecting everypony! One soldier, Sgt. Mist, records everything in a journal.
