The youngest daughter of the sea king, Pinkie Pie wants nothing more than to hear a pony laugh. However, when her attempts at cheering up her unhappy family is met with scorn and derision, she feels she has no choice but to venture on land as a landpony. The seawitch Chrysalis is more than willing to help on one condition, that Pinkie give the seawitch her voice. And that's not all. If she can't find somepony to fall in love with in three days, then she'll die. But how is she supposed to make ponies laugh let alone fall in love with her without her voice?
