They were hoping that she would come and eat with them. "Well I'm certainly upset our friend hasn't come to hang out with us. I hope that she didn't forget." Rarity said. "Maybe we are forgetting about the fact that she had something to do today." Fluttershy said with a shrug. "Huh! I wonder what that could be. She never mentioned having to go anywhere unless she did and I forgot." Applejack said. "Maybe she's throwing a party?" Pinkie Pie suggested making her friends groan with annoyance. "I don't think she's doing that Pinkie Pie. If she was then her party might be a bit boring without us there including me." Rainbow Dash said making her friends roll their eyes. "Do you have to be that full of yourself?" Rarity asked causing Rainbow Dash to shrug. As they sat there a guard came walking over to them. "Guys? What are you doing over here? Twilight Sparkle is looking for you." The guard said. Twilight's friends "What do you mean? I thought we were gonna have a picnic with her." Rarity said. The guard became confused. "Well that's not on her schedule. She's over at the crystal games stadium preparing to give a speech that she announced out of the blue. You better get over there as she wants to see you." The guard said. "Speech she didn't tell us about any speech!" Applejack said. The guard shrugged. "Sorry but from what I heard the speech was kept under wraps by Twilight and the royal family. They announced it today with little to no warning. Do you want us to lead you there?" The guard asked. "No that's okay we can find it. Thanks." Rarity said. Rarity and her friends started to walk over to where they had been told Twilight would be at. They had so many questions on their minds. They decided to go see the speech to see if they can get their questions answered. When they got there they saw that a lot of people had already been shown to their seats. They approached the opening and a guard led them to the front row as Twilight had secured seats for them before hand since they were her friends. Once they sat down they all looked around at them. Soon Princess Celestia came up to the center everybody applauded the princess. Princess Celestia stood there and waited for the applause to die down. Once it did she turned on the microphone and started to speak. "Citizens of Equestria I would like to thank you all to come to this very important speech Princess Twilight Sparkle will make. She is very thankful for coming here as she has some things to say. Before that can happen however I just want to say a few words." Celestia said. "Equestria is set on the ideals that Twilight herself now holds dear. Friendship and protection of her friends and protection of the homeland. This protection is vital for our survival unless we die amongst ourselves." Celestia said. "Hm I wonder what she's up to. Everybody knows the fact that protection is important." Rainbow dash whispered to her friends with confusion. "In order to hear how we can continue to uphold this protection please welcome Princess Twilight Sparkle." Celestia announced. People stood to applaud Twilight as they had all just witnessed the shortest introduction in history of speeches. Whatever was going on it was very urgent. Twilight embraced Celestia in a strong hug. As the applause continued the crowd that was closest to the the center saw that Celestia was starting to cry. They had never seen Celestia cry in public. It was very strange. Celestia stopped hugging Twilight and Twilight went to the front. She cleared her throat and people were told to be very quiet for the speech. Twilight began. "You must all be wondering why I brought all of you hear today. You must be confused. You must want an explanation that I must give you. The explanation might not make sense however it's imperative that you hear it." Twilight said. Twilight brought a diagram with a pyramid drawn on it. "When I became an immortal princess at my coronation years ago....that immortality came with a price. When I was coronated I was visited by the spirits that were representing our creator. They....weren't happy to say the least. You see when I became immortal the spirits didn't like that because immortality wasn't for me to decide it was for them to decide. I had sinned. They gave me an option. Either Equestria can be punished by being destroyed or.......I could.....be mummified and placed inside a pyramid....for a very long time...I chose the second option." Twilight said. The audience including Twilight's friends were becoming very sad as they did not like either option. Twilight's friends did not like how Twilight had kept this a secret from them. At the same time they felt sad at the prospect of Twilight choosing either of them. They all started to panic and freak out but Twilight worked to calm them down. "Now everybody relax. If we all relax it will be a lot easier for all of us involved. Look I know Equestria has been through a lot so I don't want us to be go through any thing else. I've decided to agree to be punished to spare my fellow friends and citizens. I must be punished for Celestia's sins. I have to be punished. It's imperative that I am. If I'm not everybody on Equestria will die along with Equestria itself. You can try and stop me but that wont work. I'm going to serve the time of my imprisonment because it's expected of me. I will never die when I'm there but that doesn't mean my friends wont be able to see me again." Twilight said. Twilight's friends who were now sobbing hysterically became alert at what Twilight said. "This message is directed to them. I wanted to do this privately but this situation is urgent. Equestria....doesn't have much time left...." Twilight said. "Dear friends including Spike....even though you wont be able to speak to me during my sentence you might be able to speak with me when my sentence is over. After my imprisoment I can be freed and join every one of you again in person on Equestria." Twilight said. As Twilight's speech wore on it became very clear to Twilight's friends that Twilight can not back out from her punishment. Twilight's crime had been so severe that she had to give her eternal life into a restrictive imprisonment that probably will or won't last for a long time. It sounded messed up to them but not to Twilight. Twilight felt a few tears in her eyes "Sorry." Twilight said as she looked away. She gained her composure and spoke. "Now that I have explained my punishment I'm going to explain the consequence for Equestria if I'm not locked up." Twilight said. Twilight hung up a huge diagram of space. "See these meteors? Their heading for Equestria....do you know what that means? It means that if I'm not locked up soon....we're all dead. Were done, fucked, over. It will be the end of Equestria as we know it and the end of all life on Equestria. The higher power that be will send these to Equestria to punish all of us it I'm not put away for a long time. These spirits are serious." Twilight announced. The audience screamed out in shock and started to cry but Twilight stopped them. "No we are not going to cry and wail in despair. Look....we have twenty four hours to lock me up. What we are going to do is have the entire stadium cleaned out and everybody hear will be led to an underground shelter. There you will be given an access code valid for twenty four hours. You will enter the access code into the shelter and close yourselves in until the guards there get the confirmation that my punishment is carried out. Once it is you will all be free to go home. The pyramid will be enclosed during my punishment. It will only be open at Celestia or Luna's discretion. Spirits called guardians will be stationed there at all times in order to prevent people from trespassing and preventing me from trying to escape." Twilight asked. "Also you won't have to worry about me having to be fed as that won't be necessary. Their will be a spell placed on me so that I can never get hungry while I'm serving my imprisoment. With this I could go forever without food. My bowels have been emptied and their has been a spell already placed so that they can stay empty during my punishment. A spell has been placed on me to prevent me from sweating during my punishment as well." Twilight explained. "Now then...I'm going to authorize the use of the Element of Magic by my dear friend Starlight Glimmer. She will replace me as the leader of the group. She will also become princess and will be next in line to the throne once Cadence dies. I however have been removed from the Royal line due to my punishment. Once my punishment is over I will be restored to the line." Twilight said. The guards went and got Starlight to debrief her. "As we can't waste time Starlight will be informed on how to use my element. Once after that happens Celestia will issue the decree of evacuation into the bunkers. All of you will go into the shelter in a calm manner. There will be no shoving pushing or anything of that nature. We are all friends here and we must all treat eachother will respect. That there is the end of my speech. Good luck to you all and when my imprisonment is over I'll join you all again. Thank you and may the spirits bless us and may the population of Equestria live on in peace, harmony and friendship. Goodbye." Twilight said. Twilight was then led out of the stadium and all of the citizens were allowed to go back home. Twilight's friends ran after Twilight and the guards. Meanwhile astronomers were issuing emergency alerts over the huge meteorites possibly heading towards the planet. Equestria was put into emergency lockdown. It was up to Twilight to save Equestria. As Twilight was led out of the stadium Twilight's friends ran up to her. The guards stopped and let Twilight go to them. "Twilight.....please tell me your not serious.....you can't do this! What about Flurry Heart!?" Rainbow Dash explained. "A long sentence seems to harsh! I'm sorry but this isn't right. You should have the right to leave." Applejack explained. Twilight sighed. "Girls listen. Now is not the time to argue about my sentence. Once we have me inside you can argue with me and cry there okay? Starlight take the element of magic. It's all up to you. Your the leader." Twilight said. The girls started to cry but Twilight encouraged them to go on so they reluctantly went to Twilight the pyramid They ran as fast as they could to get there. Meanwhile the citizens were put in shelters and guarded until it could be safe to go out. Suddenly meteorites entered the atmosphere. "Aw! I hate doomsday threats." Rainbow Dash said with annoyance. Immediately small flames started to fall to the ground. Twilight saw Spike running up to them "Spike! Get Celestia and tell her to enact the emergency government!" Twilight yelled. Spike ran towards where Celestia was. Spike told Celestia Twilight's order and Celestia immediately issued a decree to enact martial law and have a temporary group of advisors to oversee operations in the monarchy. Twilight and her friends finally got into The Entrance Of No Return in the Pyramid and the meteorites started to hit Equestria. All around Equestria people in the crystal empire and Manehattan were rushed to shelters as meteorites smacked into Equestria and the planet. Twilight's friends and Twilight ran to the Room of Imprisoment and they all turned to Twilight and Twilight spoke while the guardians who defended the pyramid and who were the ones that would make sure to defend Twilight's mummified body as well as work to prevent Twilight from leaving stood inside the pyramid and outside of the pyramid. "You have to leave me here. I'm so sorry it has to be like this." Twilight said. Pinkie Pie hugged her tightly. "Can we at least stay for your burial? After this we won't know when we can see you again." Pinkie Pie sobbed with her hair flat. "You'll know when you can. I told you this before. Its not going to be eternal." Twilight said. "You shouldn't have to be punished anyway Twilight! This isn't fair!" Rarity protested. Rarity hugged her and sobbed heavily. Twilight sighed as she knew this was gonna happen. Twilight thought of something to say to calm them down. "It might be unfair yes... But sometimes that's just how life and responsibility are...you know how when all of you were little and you all did something bad and your parents punished you by putting you in the corner or gave you a spanking? My punishment is just like that only...its being mummified and placed inside a tomb for a long time. And as extreme that might be its....the law of the spirits. My punishment is just and fair I broke a sacred law and so did Celestia. I chose to take Celestia's punishment." Twilight said. "We'll miss you..." Rainbow Dash said as she held back tears. "I promised myself that I wouldn't cry and I'm going to cry."" Appejack said. "Twilight if you go who will continue to be my mentor!? I don't want to lose you!" Starlight cried with tears streaming down her cheeks. "I know how hard it is for everyone. I will be able to see you all again. This doesn't mean goodbye for good. It means goodbye for awhile. When I'm free we can all hang out again." Twilight said. "Twilight it's time. You do not want to make the spirits angry" a guardian said. Twilight looked over at the center. Her friends stared at her as they began to sob. Twilight started to sob to. "I'll miss you!" Pinkie Pie wailed. Twilight shook her head and entered a group hug with her friends. They stayed their for a few minutes and suddenly a guardian pulled her away from her friends. "No! Give me a few more minutes!" Twilight protested as she tried to break free. Her friends started to get distressed seeing this but they couldn't do anything about it. Twilight was stripped naked and had her crown taken off and the crown was brought to Celestia. Twilight felt embarrassment from being nude and she felt ashamed and sad about her sin. "Twilight!" Pinkie Pie yelled in sadness. She tried to free Twilight but was restrained by her friends. Pinkie Pie screamed but her friends calmed her down. The guardians told Twilight to knock it off so she did. As Twilight forced herself to get on top of the table she looked back at her friends. She was instructed to lay down. She started to panic a bit but calmed down. The guardians started to mummify her in cloth bandages. The process took about twenty minutes. They had to make sure Twilight couldn't get free. Once the process was done they prepared to enclose her. Twilight was placed into a padded coffin. Twilight looked at her friends. "I love you all. Don't forget that. Continue to protect Equestria by using the elements. Starlight its up to you to take up my role as the element of magic and leader of our friends. I'm depending on you and never forget what I've taught all of you which is...friendship and trust and honor is the strongest thing that friends could have. Treat eachother with kindness and treat others with kindness." Twilight said as her voice cracked with emotion. Her friends couldn't speak as they were sobbing to much. They all nodded. The spell to prevent her from being hungry was placed on her and then the she was lowered into the ground and the ground was closed sealing her away inside her prison. Twilight's friends stared at the floor for the longest time. Pinkie Pie let out a sad wail. Her friends comforted her. The meteorites stopped hitting Equestria. The spirits showed mercy on Equestria. Celestia let out a sigh of relief. All of the citizens were let out of the shelter and were allowed to carry on about their day. As her friends looked at the floor they wondered about how they would deal with Twilight's absence. "Well...she did what she had to do I guess....I can respect that." Starlight said. "I guess at the end of the day she sacrificed herself to serve out her sentence so that we wouldn't be punished for her own sins. That's called loyalty." Rainbow Dash said. "Don't worry girls we will see her again." Rarity said. Her friends comforted eachother as they were all sad. They didn't want to leave but they were about to be forced by the guardians to leave so they left. Meanwhile Twilight wriggled her mummified body inside the floor. She knew that it was useless to struggle but she couldn't help it. She knew that her punishment had just begun so that was causing her to panic. She looked up at the restrictive top that was facing back at her. "Fuck! I'm going to be here for a long time!" Twilight exclaimed. She felt sad and upset. She knew that screaming and protesting wouldn't do her any good but she couldn't stop herself from freaking out as she knew that she wouldn't be able to do anything about her punishment. "Let me go! I'll never break the rules again! I'm sorry!" Twilight screamed. She listened for a response but the guardians and spirits ignored her and gave her the silent treatment. Twilight had tears running down her cheeks. "Nohohohohohohoho." Twilight sobbed. Twilight laid her head back as she began to serve out her punishment while she cried. She was going to be there for a long time.
Chapter 2View OnlineThe SentenceChapter 2The first few months of the third year of Twilight Sparkle's punishment were more of the same for Twilight. Twilight would wake up and cry each day due to being stuck in her coffin while mummified. The only thing that had been left uncovered for her was her face and head so that she could at least stare at something inside her prison. She struggled each and everyday since the beginning of being locked away inside her coffin. Some days she would cry and other days she would think about her friends and the situation she was in. As she woke up in the next month of her third year of imprisoment she sighed as she found herself in the bondage that she was put in years ago. She squirmed around franticly for a bit even though she knew that she had done it countless times before and each of those times it provided no relief for her. "I hate this place!" Twilight exclaimed in frustration. She didn't feel like crying that day as she had cried all day yesterday. She felt like she wanted scream. She wanted to yell at them to get her out but she was always ignored whenever she tried to do that. The guardians who kept her trapped but also protected her never answered her no matter how many times Twilight called out to them. Twilight knew that she was there to serve out her punishment so she usually just laid there and thought over her sin but at the same time she wanted to get free and see her friends again. She missed her friends a lot. She couldn't wait to be free so she could see them. Soon she heard a guardian enter the room to probably check on her so she yelled. "Hey you! Please get me out of here! Are you listening to me!? I said I was sorry!" Twilight yelled. She heard the guardian move something around the room and then left. "No! Twilight yelled. She laid her head back and tried to calm herself down. She really couldn't wait to get out of there. She had enough of experiencing the same thing everyday. Most days were here screaming her head off and others were her crying while others were of her just being absolutely silent. She wondered if her day was going to consist of struggling again even if it tired her out. She was lucky she never sweated in there so she was grateful for that at least but at the same time she would have picked any other punishment besides this. She would have picked being out in the cold then this but she didn't have an option so she just went along with it. She stayed completely still as she looked around inside the hole that she was in. It was always slightly lit in there so she could look at the walls while thinking over what she did wrong and that was what she did to much. Everyday of being in her prison she always focused on what she did wrong as she waited for the day her punishment would end. Some days she would get very desperate to get out as she would pray to the spirits and the guardians to let her get out of that restrictive prison and have the cloth taken off of her. She looked down on her wrapped up body and started to squirm around. She struggled like this everyday but it was always useless in the end. She twisted around as she pushed against the tightly packed cocoon that she was in. She focused as she pushed against her wrappings but no matter how much she pushed the wrappings never budged which is what the spirits made sure of before they had imprisoned her. She grunted as she tried her best at pushing against the material, she started to tire herself out due to all the pushing she was doing. She kept pushing against it while twisting around but that did nothing. She stopped twisting and just pushed against the tight material. She laid her head back and pushed against the cocoon. She forgot the last time she had tried this but knew it was going to turn out to be the same result. "Nohohohohohohoho! I want this thing off of me!" Twilight cried. She pushed for a few more moments and stopped and just sobbed. She sobbed for a while. After crying for a bit more she stopped and began to wonder how Starlight was doing as the temporary barer of the element of magic. She hoped that Starlight was using it right and wasn't causing trouble for her friends. She wished that she could be there to be the element of magic again to help her friends but couldn't since she was stupid enough to allow herslef to gain immortality when Celestia and Twilight had known that it was against the laws of the spirits. She had a feeling that her friends were all crying over her imprisonment. It made her sad that she couldn't be there to make things better for them. She also wondered how Celestia was doing. She wondered if Celestia was taking this situation the hardest since she was Celestia's most prized pupil. She hoped that Celestia didn't take someone else under her wing and forgot about her. She hoped that her friends didn't forget her either as her friends were the most important people in her life. She knew that her family was crying over her They must be so upset. She missed the walks with her friends, the sleepovers with her brother, the activities she did with Cadence and the hangouts with her friends and then her mind jumped to Spike. She knew that he must have found out by now and was taking it the hardest, she wished she could be there for him to see him grow older but knew that she was going to miss out on his next few birthdays and that was horrible to think about. This was all to much for her as she started to freak out. Twilight started to cry again which is something that was happening a lot in there. She was missing out on so much opportunities and she had herself and Celestia to blame. She hated what she and Celestia had done to herself. She should never had allowed Celestia to give her immortality. Thanks to her and Celestia she was inside a big box and mummified like a disgraceful sinner. She couldn't believe she had agreed to take Celestia's punishment but at the same time it had been the right thing to do. Still she couldn't keep her rage boiled up inside of her. She looked up at the top of the coffin and glared at it as she was meaning to glare at the spirits. She felt like insulting the spirits again but was afraid that by doing that she would extend her sentence. She turned her head to the side and kept it there as she thought about what the outside world would like like to her when she was released. She began to cry as she feared that she would be in there for so long that her friends would grow old and die without her. If that happened she would commit suicide although unknown to her the guardians were not cruel and were planning to release her at some point in the near future. Still she feared the worst. She hoped that life on Equestria doesnt go extinct while she was all wrapped up and locked away in the Equestria pyramid. And even though she knew that the possibility of that was impossible she still worried about it. She decided to distract herself from that subject and thought of her friends again. She wondered what types of villains her friends were facing off against while she was stuck in there. She also thought about what type of friends they were meeting. She hoped that her friends didn't forget about her and replace her with Starlight that made her the most depressed. She started to sob as the thought of the possibility of her being released only to discover that her friends abandoned her. It scared her to think about that. She loved her friends so much and would do anything to get out of her pyramid prison. She sobbed for quite a while but then she stopped and became silent. She realized that she was not going to be getting out until the spirits let her. She sighed as she was not looking forward to the years in the pyramid. She knew that she couldn't do anything about though as it was up to the spirits to decide. She started to wonder if her friends actually came and visited her pyramid even though they knew that they couldn't do anything. She couldn't know if they were following her advice and staying away from her pyramid or were they crying while lying on the floor where she was locked away on some days. She wondered if she cried out there names they would be there one day and hear her. She wondered if they tried to beg the spirits to have her released sometimes. She decided to stop thinking about these questions as she was getting tired of it so she stopped and thought of something else. After she wondered about this stuff for a bit she started to contemplate her predicament. She stopped yelling as she knew that yelling wasnt doing her any good As Twilight prepared to spend the next few years in the pyramid she prayed to the spirits to let her out soon as she couldn't wait to get out of her prison.
Chapter 3View OnlineThe SentenceChapter 3During Twilight's fourth year of imprisonment Twilight's friends were trying their best to get through the separation from Twilight. It had been four years since she was imprisoned inside the pyramid. Her friends had to get therapy due to their separation from Twilight. They missed her so much they couldn't wait for her to be free. They had a long time to wait yet though as she wasn't even halfway through her imprisonment. Her friends were dealing with it easier than they had been then the first year. They weren't crying everyday but they were still crying from time to time. Starlight Glimmer missed Twilght the most. She wanted to learn more lessons from her teacher and friend but couldn't and she couldn't break into the pyramid either and she wasn't planning on doing that. She was really depressed about Twilight being gone but she didn't cry to much. Once they checked out a few books they started to read about them and realize they were very righteous and mighty but we're kind and understanding to a point. They realized that the spirits understood that Twilight and Celestia were very nice people that had made a mistake they shouldn't have made but didn't mean to make the mistake and that all individuals made mistakes. But at the same time however they needed to get the point across that consequences follow mistakes which was why they were going to punish Celestia but instead Twilight had opted to take her place which had led her to her imprisonment. Starlight Glimmer started to read up on all of the different spirits that existed in the realm. There wasn't a leader that leaded them as they all leaded eachother equally. No spirit was more powerful or more trustable than the other. They all had the same powers. They were all spirits that worked together to coexist and serve out justice when needed to. There were ones who judged and their were ones who guarded the realms and areas which they resided in which were called Guardian's and those ones were guarding the pyramid Twilight was mummified and imprisoned in. It took Starlight hours to get through the information. All of it was very fascinating. She was particularly interested in their origins but the books that she read all said that the spirits had existed forever. They had existed way before Equestria was founded. She read that the spirits had watched over every mission that her friends had done and every lesson that they had learned. They saw Twilight's battle with Tirek, they saw Starlight when she was the ruler of Our Town and the attempt by Starlight of changing history. They had been there for everything and had seen everything. It amazed Starlight. The one thing she couldn't understand was about how the spirits never punished her for her wrongdoings but yet they punished Twilight. She decided to look up they known cases that the spirits were involved in and she found out that they were involved a lot. Some of the other people that the spirits had judged were Trixie Lulamoon but that punishment she got was a figurative slap on the wrist. The spirits were close to punishing Twilight for the want it need it incident but they decided that it wasn't necessary so they didn't step it. Starlight Glimmer and her friends had conversations with the guardians outside of the pyramid and learned about them more. They were fascinating to learn about. They decided to check out a few books from a library about them and realized there tons of information on them in books that had been labeled guides on the spirits or had been labeled the secret world of spiritual creatures. She read that the spirits had watched over every mission that her friends had done and every lesson that they had learned. They saw Twilight's battle with Tirek, they saw Starlight when she was the ruler of Our Town and the attempt by Starlight of changing history. They had been there for everything and had seen everything. It amazed Starlight. As she looked through more of the information she had found out that the spirits had judged Luna after she was nightmare moon but Celestia was able to get Luna free from that by imprisoning her in the moon. She had never known this before until now. She started to think that Celestia had kept it a secret until it slowly got out. Starlight realized how good the spirits were. She realized that Equestria needed the spirits or there wouldn't be any order in Equestria. She decided to look for more information so she went and looked through Twilight's journals and realized how much Twilight prayed to the spirits as Twilight had respect for them. She realized that Celestia had a lot of respect for them to. Starlight finished her research and wondered how Twilight was doing in her imprisonment. She knew that Twilight must of missed her and their friends a lot. She decided to go and share the information with her friends and find out how they were doing it. She first went to see Pinkie Pie. Pinkie Pie told Starlight that she had cried for a few months in the first year but was able to accept the fact that Twilight was going to be in her prison for a while so she had stopped and was now going through her days by hanging out with Starlight and her friends and helping out Celestia. She missed Twilight a lot but wasn't depressed every day about it. She talked to Pinkie Pie for a bit and then left. She then went to see Rainbow Dash and saw that Rainbow Dash was bonding with her friends a lot each year during Twilight's imprisonment. Rainbow Dash couldn't stand one minute without her friends since being alone by herself would make her burst out in tears a lot so her friends were able to get Rainbow Dash throughout the day. She also spent time comforting Fluttershy. After talking to Rainbow Dash She went to see Fluttershy who was taking it the worst. Fluttershy had cried profusely for each year a lot and was currently crying that very day so she comforted Fluttershy which got her to stop crying for a bit and talked to her. After talking to Fluttershy she talked to Applejack who was taking it very badly. Applejack had refused to do any work on the farm as the result of Twilight's punishment which shocked Starlight because Applejack was always a very tough friend. She told Applejack that she understood and hoped that Applejack would come to her senses and help her family put. After talking to Applejack she talked to Rarity and found out that Rarity was an absolute mess. Rarity managed to do a lot of work and cry but that was about it. After she learned about each of her friends she realized that all of them were doing one thing tiger her which was comforting eachother. They were sticking by eachother and seeing eachother no matter how they felt and that inspired Starlight. After checking in on her friends Starlight went back home. When she got back home she prayed to the spirits to release Twilight earlier that planned and then tried to get herself to relax as she had her mind on Twilight a lot. She hoped that she could relax so that she didn't get upset over again. She couldn't wait to see Twilight again.
Chapter 4View OnlineThe SentenceChapter 4It was the fourth year of Twilight's sentence and Celestia was preparing to tell Twilight's parents about Twilight's imprisonment. She knew they weren't going to take it well. She shouldn't have waited a long time to tell them but at the same time she knew that they wouldn't have taken it well. Once Twilight's parents came to her castle she invited them in and told them to sit down in the entrance. Once they sat down she took a few deep breaths in the privacy of her room as she tried to figure out what to say to Twilight's parents. After Celestia talked to Twilight's parents she told them about what happened to Twilight as carefully as she could. Night Light wanted more information however and the mother started to freak out. When Celesta explained more about it Twilight's mother started to cry and flip out causing Night Light to work to calm her down. Once he calmed her down Celestia did her best to clear up the misunderstanding. When she did Twilight's parents started to understand and asked to see her. Celestia told them that it wasn't a good idea but they insisted. Celstia's parents managed to convince Celestia to take them so she took them to the pyramid where Twilight was locked up. The guardians saw Twilight's parents and allowed them to pass through as they felt that they should be allowed to see Twilights prison as they were the parents just as much as they would allow Twilight's friends to see her prison. Celestia took them inside and brought them to the floor where Twilight was located under. They began to beg Celestia to open the floor so they can talk to Twilight but Celestia didn't want Twilight to be disturbed and didn't want her to be depressed further and didn't so she didn't let them talk to Twilight. She told them that they can talk to Twilight again once Twilight's sentence ended. She then took them to the other areas of the pyramid and showed them around. After she had done that Twilight's parents tried to get Celestia to let them stay but Celestia said that they couldn't as the Pyramid guardians were strictly against trespassing. Celestia told them how she understood how hard it was for them to leave Twilight but promised them that they would be able to see Twilight again. Celestia took Twilight's parents into the castle with her and tried to comfort them and tell them that they didn't have much longer to wait to see Twilight again. When Twilight's parents left Celestia debated with herself on whether she made the right choice in showing Twilight's parents around. She was glad that she didn't depress them by showing them Twilight as that would depress them but at the same time she wondered if she had already depress them by showing them the pyramid. Celestia asked her sister if had done the right in showing Twilight's parents around the temple and she said that she had done the right thing as it was their rights as the parents to see where their daughter was although she noted that it probably did depress them a little bit. Celestia then asked Twilight's parents if she depressed them by showing them around and they said yes but only a little bit but they weren't that depressed by it by a lot. She apologized to them for not bringing them to Twilight's tomb earlier than that year as they had a right to see Twilight. After this she went back to her castle and breathed a sigh of relief as she was glad that it was all over and that Twilight's parents didn't freak out from the experience to much but if they had freaked out or cried she would of understood them. Twilight's parents continued to countdown the days until Twilight's release. They wanted to see their daughter badly but they had to wait until Twilight's punishment was over. They went back to Celestia and asked if the punishment was a bit to harsh on Twilight. Celestia told them that she didn't think so and said that it was a appropriate punishment but she also said that she understood how Twilight must feel at that very moment in being mummified and restrained in a pyramid and if she were in Twilight's position she would have freaked out to. Celestia told Twilight's parents how Shining Armor also visited the pyramid but the pyramid just made him depressed so he didn't go see it anymore after that and Celestia and Twilight's parents can handle the fact that Twilight was locked up while other family members couldn't and that it was understandable of Shining Armor being upset. Twilight's parents expressed their sadness due to the fact Twilight being restrained and imprisoned Celestia told Twilight's parents that she understood that and mentioned that she felt sad about it to. They both brought up the idea of a welcome home party for Twilight and Celestia said she would think over that idea as she didn't know how appropriate it would be. Soon Twilight's parents left once again and Celestia felt lucky that Twilight's parents didn't see Twilight as it would have been very upsetting due to Twilight's reported begging and apologies. She hoped that Twilight would soon see the error of her ways. Celestia hoped that Twilight was going to learn a lesson from all of this just as much as Celestia learned her lesson by allowing Twilight to ascend to immortality and by the reports that she was hearing she heard that Twilight was still begging which upset her. She hoped that Twilight would start thinking about what she did. She felt sad for Twilight and understood Twilight's anger and sadness. Celestia couldn't wait to see Twilight again just as much as Twilight's family and friends. She knew that Twilight was seeing the error of her ways because that was the only way Twilight would remember the lesson that she was learning in her mummification bondage. She hoped that Twilight will learn her lesson in the end as that was the only thing which will prevent Twilight and herself from committing anther mistake.
Chapter 5View OnlineThe SentenceChapter 5It was the fifth year of Twilight's imprisonment. Twilight was currently laying inside her tomb as she was thinking about what she had done. She wasn't protesting anymore like how she was in the beginning as she was now devoting more time into thinking about her sin that she had committed. She was more calm and contemplative than she was before. She should have done that from the beginning instead of screaming and protesting as screaming and protesting didn't do anything for her which was why she had stopped. As she laid there she thought about how she shouldn't have let Celestia make her immortal as she knew beforehand that there was possible consequences that came with Celestia making her immortal but she didn't and she let Celestia make her immortal which then led to her imprisonment inside a pyramid years later. It had been years since she had been first imprisoned inside the pyramid and to that day she was still inside. She wondered how much longer she was going to stay in there. She hoped that she would be let out that year but she knew that she might not be let out that year. She didn't worry about her friends forgetting her as she knew very well that they still missed her. She felt bad for herself and her friends as they had been apart for a few years now. She couldn't wait to see her friends again. Twilight knew that if she hadn't allowed herself and Celestia sin her imprisonment wouldn't have happened and she wouldn't be in the current situation that she was in. She would still be up there with her friends and having fun while making new friends every day but instead she had sinned and threw away several years of fun. She regretted allowing Celestia make her immortal so she apologized to the spirits everyday. She was very mad at Celestia but held in her anger as she didn't want to yell anymore since it was tiring in the first few years but that didn't mean that she couldn't curse at Celestia inside as she felt that she had a right to so she did just that although she knew that her anger against Celestia couldn't last forever either. She also thought about her friends and family regularly. She wondered how much she was missing as she knew that her friends and family were probably doing things without her. She also wondered about Applejack's family as she wondered about Granny Smith. She wondered if Granny Smith was still alive as Granny Smith had been very old the last time Twilight had seen her before her imprisonment had taken place. If she was dead then she wondered how the Apple Family was dealing with it. She wondered about how Granny Smith would die. She hoped that Granny Smith didn't die. Twilight knew that she shouldn't be thinking about negative things but at the same time she couldn't help it for some reason as her imprisonment was having an effect on her thoughts. It had depressed her a lot lately which was why she was thinking about negative things as well as how much sorry she was for getting into her prison in the first place but at the same time she was right to get imprisoned as Equestria had almost been destroyed. Even though she didn't like her prison she was glad that her imprisonment had saved Equestria from being destroyed. She knew that if she hadn't been locked Equestria would have been destroyed that way she could live with her imprisonment as she had saved Equestria by being locked away. She knew that it had been necessary. Twilight continued to feel guilty while she looked around inside her little confined space while looking at her mummified body. Over the years she had looked at the same area. She was afraid that she would have gone crazy from looking at it but in the end she didn't and that fact relaxed her a little bit at least. At first it had felt a bit cramped but now it didn't anymore although it was a bit annoying to her although she couldn't help being annoyed as she hated tight spaces and yet again she knew that the tight space was the price that she had to pay due to her sin. She hoped that Celestia was grateful for her in taking Celestia's punishment. She knew that Equestria had needed Celestia which was why she had to take Celestia's place inside the pyramid. In the end she was glad that the spirits had decided to punish her instead of Celestia. As she thought of Celestia she also thought of Starlight Glimmer. Twilight was praying that Starlight didn't turn bad during any year of her punishment. She knew that she was probably worrying over nothing but she still wanted to make sure that Starlight hadn't turned back to her old evil self again as she had taken Twilight's place as a temporary fill in as the element of magic. She couldn't wait to take her place as the element of magic again. She missed the job of saving Equestria with her element. She wondered if Starlight had been doing a good job of being the element of magic. She also wondered if Starlight had gotten better at magic while she was locked away. She couldn't wait to see Starlight's magic ability. She will have to ask Starlight what new spells she learned and she will have to ask Starlight to show her once her sentence ends. Twilight also wondered about Fluttershy as well. She wondered if Fluttershy got a job as a veterinarian as it wouldn't surprise her if Fluttershy had done that as Fluttershy loved animals. It would fit her character if she did that. She would just have to see when she gets out of her prison. As she continued to think she continued to look forward to the day that she was released as her and her friends had a lot of catching up to do. She also probably had a lot of new people to meet and make friends with as new people move into Equestria each and everyday. Twilight couldn't wait to be released.
Chapter 6View OnlineThe SentenceChapter 6It was the seventh year of Twilight's sentence. Twilight's time locked away was almost done and soon she would be released. During that year Celestia had decided to go check up on the pyramid and the guardians. When she got there she asked the guardians about how the pyramid was and they reported that it was alright. She then asked if Twilight's sentence had remained the same and the guardian said that it did, after that she asked how Twilight's behavior had been and the guardians said that Twilight was a lot more calm those days. She went inside and checked it out for herself as she walked around inside it. She decided not to go and see Twilight herself as Twilight needed to stay in isolation until she was let out when her sentence ends. As Celestia looked at the pyramid while she explored it she continued to think about Twilight as she knew that Twilight only had a few more years left in her punishment and once those years were over Twilight would have a tearful reunion with her friends and Celestia and the rest of the citizens. Celestia knew that she shouldn't depress herself by looking at the pyramid but she couldn't stay away either as Twilight was there. She also couldn't stay away because of the unique room of the pyramid and the design of it on the outside. It was the most unique prison in Equestria that had ever existed. Celestia knew that no structure would ever compare to this mighty pyramid however once Twilight was out the pyramid won't have any more purposes so it was planned to be destroyed. Before this planning had begun during the construction Celestia and the townspeople were almost afraid to ask the permission of the spirits but when the spirits told them that it would be alright if they wanted to destroy it once Twilight was out. Although even if it was being planned to be destroyed some of citizens were arguing the for the choice to keep the pyramid and even Celestia liked that idea herself so they had asked the spirits permission to keep the pyramid and the spirits told them if they wanted to keep it they could. Celestia thought back at how long it had been since she had last seen Twilight. She felt like it was decades ago only to realize that it had only been a few years. She hoped that Twilight wasn't mad at the spirits. Celestia was very lucky that Twilight had chosen to take her punishment. Celestia continued to examine the modern marvel that stood within her mist. As depressing the act of what it was being used for was it was also beautiful in away. The spirits had done such a good job on it. She hoped that Twilight would at least realize how well it had been designed. Celestia looked around some more and came across guardians that were walking throughout the pyramid as they were on guard duty in order to protect Twilight from anybody who wished to harm her and in order to prevent Twilight from trying to get out. Celestia was surprised by the fact that Twilight had never tried to get out once during her imprisonment. It had shocked her because she was absolutely sure that Twilight would have tried to break out and be chased by the guardians before her sentence was over but she ended up not doing that. Celestia was glad that Twilight had never tried to break free as it would have expanded Twilight's sentence or cause something worse to happen to her. However she also doubted that Twilight had always been unable to escape because of how impossible it was. Celestia continued to search around throughout the pyramid. Celestia hoped that when this was all over Twilight would be able to put this behind her and continued to hang out with her friends and serve Equestria as she was afraid that Twilight would complain harshly once she got out. As Celestia looked around she thought back to earlier that E year when she tried to get Alina to come here with her but refused. Celestia understood why Luna refused as she had a very understandable reason to refuse going there and that was the possibility of Luna getting depressed. She understood that Luna didn't want to get depressed and was not at all offended by Luna admitting she didn't want to go due to that reason as she knew how hard it was to deal with loss. As Celestia looked around more she decided to go outside and look around outside as well, she looked at each wall of the pyramid and check out the designs on it. She was glad that people had taken pictures of it so that the evidence of the pyramid would never disappear. As Celestia looked around outside other people called out to her or said hello to her which she answered each time. Other people began looking at the pyramid as well. After Celestia looked around for a bit more Celestia went back to her castle and crossed off her visit to the pyramid off of her list and sat down to think. She knew that Twilight would be released soon so she was going to make sure to comfort her immediately after she hears the news that Twilight had been released. Celestia had a feeling that this lesson would stick with Twilight forever. She knew that Twilight would remember this lesson forever as well whenever she thought about it. She knew that it would never go away from Twilight's mind. As Celestia continued to wait for Twilight to get out as paitently as she could She continued to plan on keeping her promise of her not making people immortals. She was never going to commit that sin again and she was never going to doom someone or herself to imprisonment ever again. Celestia couldn't wait for the punishment to be over for Twilight.
Chapter 7View OnlineThe SentenceChapter 7As Twilight's Sparkle's sentence got closer and closer to be over with Starlight and Twilight's friends continue to deal with the fact that Twilight was locked away but it was especially hard on Starlight. While Twilight had been locked away Starlight has been getting therapy due to her loneliness that she felt due to Twilight being locked away inside a pyramid. She thought that the spirits had been to harsh on Twilight but in the end she wouldn't be able to say anything to convince the spirits that they have been harsh. Starlight still had nightmares of the day Twilight was locked away. It was very traumatizing to hear how Twilight had been sentenced to prison for several years, luckily for her however she was able to get control over her emotions after several years. Starlight knew that Twilight's sentence was going to end in a few years. It wouldn't be much longer now. Her and Twilight's friends can see Twilight again and start hanging out with her again while forgetting that this whole situation ever started in the first place. Over the years Twilight had been gone Starlight had made numerous visits to Twilight's friends in order to be comforted by them and to be able to comfort them as well. She would not have the strength to make it through this situation without her friends. If Starlight had lost her friends due to an accident or if a strain had grown between her and Twilight's friends relationship and the strain pulled them apart then she wouldn't be able to make it through the loneliness. Starlight sighed as she thought about what Twilight could be doing at that very moment. She knew that Twilight was probably lost deep in thought in there. She wouldn't be surprised by that as that how Twilight was but if Twilight was crying and protesting in there she would understand that as well. Starlight took out a photo album of her friends and opened it up to look at the pictures of her and Twilight together along with pictures of her with Twilight and her friends. The pictures of Twilight started to make her miss her even more. She started to wish that the sentence would hurry up and end quicker then how slow it was going now. Starlight knew that she shouldn't enter the temple due to how depressing it would be seeing Twilight mummified in a box and isolated from the outside world and everybody that loved her and everybody she loved. She felt bad for Twilight and wished that she could save her but knew that would just make the spirits angry. Starlight hoped that the spirits wouldn't come back and punish them for committing sins again but at the same time she knew that Equestria would have no other choice. She knew that she would be punished next if she betrayed her friends but she didn't have to worry about that as she wasn't going to betray her friends. She continued to flip through the photo album as she looked at more photos of Twilight while remembering how Twilight sounded and how funny she was. Twilight had missed out on years worth of friendship building but on the bright side was that Twilight could continue the friendship building once she got out. Starlight finished looking through the photo album so she closed it and went to go tell Futtershy about her feelings. When she made it to Fluttershy's place she told Fluttershy about how she was feeling. Fluttershy comforted her and told her that it was almost over and that she didn't have long to wait. Starlight thanked her and decided to go see the pyramid. She walked down the path that would lead to the pyramid and when she got there she just looked at it. Starlight took in the pyramid's beauty while thinking about her stuck friend. She was so sad for Twilight. She would have had anything to shorten Twilight's sentence so that she could see her friends soon but it was to late for that now as Twilight had already been in there for years. Starlight walked back home by using a quieter path so that she could think about Twilight. She couldn't wait to see Twilight get out of that prison because once she did she can hang out with Twilight again and Twilight's friends can hang out with her again. She knew that Spike couldn't wait for Twilight to get out either including Twilight's parents. She wondered if the event of Twilight being released was going to be covered in the media as she had a feeling that it would. Starlight got back home and sat on her bed as she thought about Twilight. She hoped that Twilight didn't go insane while she had been in there as that would depress her and all of her friends as they all wanted Twilight to pull through. Starlight couldn't wait for Twilight to be released as Twilight had a lot of catching up to do with Starlight and her friends as she had missed out on fun birthday parties and celebrations that happened yearly. Starlight and her friends had been smart enough to take pictures of these events however so they could show Twilight what they have been up to however they were going to make sure to be careful that they didn't run it into Twilight's face as that would be rude. They were going to be as polite as possible about it. They knew that when Twilight came back they could have fun again as they haven't been having any fun due to Twilight being locked away in a pyramid for several years. That thought had depressed them and had prevented them from having fun but once Twilight got free they were going to make up it up for themselves and for Twilight. They were going to have a party and have lots of fun. It was going to be great to see Twilight.
Chapter 8View OnlineThe SentenceChapter 8During Twilight's ninth year of her imprisonment Celestia was signing new laws into place for Equestria. As she was doing that she was visited by a messenger spirit. The messenger spirit told her not to be frightened as she had been startled at first and then told her that Twilight would be released in a few days. Celestia felt happiness go through her when she heard this. She thanked the spirit and the spirit left. After the spirit left she told Twilight's friends about this news and that made them all very happy. She then told Twilight's parents this news and they were happy as well. And last she told Luna, Cadence and Shining Armor who were both thrilled by this announcement. Her friends couldn't wait to see the day when Twilight would be released. They fixed their countdown to make it show a few days and talked to eachother about how they were going to greet Twilight once she's released. After this they told Spike and Spike became thrilled by this announcement as he had missed her the most. Celestia talked to the spirits again as she wanted to make sure that there would be no more punishments needed and found out that there wasn't. She was going to tell Twilight how sorry she was that she had been punished. Celestia knew that once Twilight was released Twilight was going to probably be confused while also being relieved. She was expecting that the guardians will explain that she was being released once she was and if they didn't they she would explain it to Twilight. A debate in Equestria started over about whether the pyramid should be preserved years after Twilight's imprisonment. They decided that it would be to depressing so they decided that they would disassemble it. They checked with the spirits and the spirits said that it would be okay to disassemble it. They prepared to make a plan to disassemble the pyramid as quick as possible as they didn't want to spend years on taking it apart as they had better things to do in Equestria. Soon they started to measure the pyramid in order to find out which stuff to remove first. Once they figured that out they were all set. Celestia announced to Equestria that Twilight would be released soon and celebrations started to pop up all over Equestria as they couldn't wait for Twilight's return. Celestia heard about the celebrations and made a warning to Equestria which told them not to celebrate to soon but Equestria didn't listen as they ramped up the celebrations. They were so happy that Twilight was being released so they were making it known. Some people started holding grudges against the spirits but the spirits ignored them as it wasn't their fault that Twilight had been locked up. They reminded them to be grateful that Twilight's imprisonment wasn't longer than the sentence that was given to her. The celebrations got crazier and crazier as people started to drink a lot and get drunk while singing festive songs for the princess's return. The streets started to get dirty and had to be cleaned much more often now due to so many celebrations taking place. Celestia saw the chaos and realized that she should have waited to tell people or just kept it secret till the day of Twilight's release and then tell the people after the fact but she knew that it was to late now. On the other hand Celestia was happy that so many people had missed her. Twilight's friends were seen hugging eachother in complete happiness. The celebrations went on for days as people never tired. The celebrations in Equestria got even louder and more erratic so guards were sent to the areas to make sure that order was kept and luckily the people who were celebrating made sure to not get to crazy and riot. Soon Celestia heard reports about people celebrating normally and that relieved her as she had been so afraid of rioting but luckily she wasn't. Celebrations continued throughout Equestria. As the celebrations continued a huge crowd gathered around Twilight's pyramid in the event of Twilight's release. Everybody wanted to see it again as they were excited about Twilight being released. The people were able to stay there for the next few days but then after a while of them camping out there they had to be driven away because of how rough they were getting. They had also been driven away as some of them were planning to camp out there so they went back to their homes and celebrated at their homes while others went back to the streets to celebrate. Twilight's parents and friends were happy but they were going to be even happier once Twilight was released. They just couldn't wait for the return of the beloved fourth princess of Equestria as they had missed her so much. They started to pray to the spirits as they thanked them while others prayed to them to have Twilight released even sooner. The thanks was appreciated but the other prayers asking for Twilight to be released sooner than a few days was denied as they were just going to have to wait paitently to see Twilight be released. The citizens were so happy and Twilight's close friends and family were to as Twilight had been in her prison for way to long. They had wished that Twilight's sentence had been shortened but unfortunately nothing came of those requests. They even bribed the spirits over the years but the spirits refused he bribes so people gave up. Still they were happy that Twilight was being released. They hoped that they can cheer Twilight up whenever they talked to her after her imprisonement as it would be the right thing to do. As the citizens and Twilight's friends and family awaited Twilight's return they couldn't keep the excitement hidden as it was impossible. They just couldn't wait to see their princess once again.
Chapter 9View OnlineThe SentenceChapter 9Soon the the floor was opened and Twilight had her bindings removed. Twilight looked around in confusion as the guardians freed her. She then became happy that she was being released. They took the wrappings off and let her go. Once they let her go they took off the hunger prevention spell and the bladder prevention spell and the sweat prevention spell so that she can go use the bathroom and eat and sweat again normally. Twilight was given her clothes back so she put them on. It was a strange feeling to be putting on clothes again as she hadn't worn them ever since she had been locked up. She was so happy to be released. She couldn't wait to see her friends. She exited the temple and went to see her friends. Once when she saw each of them They cried with happiness when they saw her. Each of them hugged her. Once she got that done she saw Starlight who cried with happiness when she also saw her. Starlight gave Twilight the element of magic. They then all got together and got Twilight caught up on current news events. Twilight was given her crown back so she could renenter her position as princess. After that Twilight went to meet up with Celestia who immediately hugged her once she had seen her. Celestia cried as she spoke about how much she missed Twilight. She then calmed down and let Shining Armor and Cadence know. All of them came back and Shining Armor and Cadence hugged Twilight as they cried about how much they missed her as well. Once that was done Twilight visited her parents. Her parents saw her and became thrilled that she had been released. They cuddled her for a while but then had to let go. Once that happened Celestia called for a huge meeting involving everybody in Ponyville. When that happened everybody in Ponyville came so Celestia had Twilight reveal herself. The crowd went wild as they saw that Twilight was back. They cheered happily and celebrated. The crowd spread the news about Twilight's release all around Equestria and outside of Equestria and new celebrations popped up everywhere. As the celebrations went on Twilight gave a speech in each corner of Equestria and then went to her friends to hang out with them since she had been gone for so long. Twilight and her friends hung out at a diner, as they went to the diner people in the diner saw her and celebrated. She talked to them for a few minutes and then had a meal with her friends. Twilight enjoyed her meal immensely as she hadn't had food in years. She had missed the taste and smell so she was finally glad to eat again as well. Twilight then went home to see Spike where she talked to him for a long time as they hung out. Spike was thrilled to see her. Once that happened Twilight looked around the entire castle as she wanted to see what had changed since she was gone but she was happy to see that nothing had changed. Twilight took up an exercise in order to reawaken her muscles. While she was doing that in the day she had nightmares about her prison at night so she went to get therapy for her nightmares. After a few months of therapy Twilight stopped having nightmares about her prison. Soon disassembly of the pyramid started. It took a few years to take down but they were able to manage as citizens helped workers disassemble it. Once it was taken down the pieces were melted and the liquid was discarded of. The guardians went back to guard the spirit world as their job on Equestria was done. The spirits continued on helping Equestria and the balance of nature and upholding the spiritual law. People still saw the spirits from time to time including Twilight. Twilight and the spirits didn't have any conflict either as Twilight knew that the punishment had been just and fair. The spirits didn't hold any grudge against Twilight as well as they weren't angry with her. They were never angry with her but they had been upset with her when they imprisoned her but now they weren't. Twilight continued to communicate with them for help and became friends with them as well. Celestia also communicated with the spirits sometimes as well as she wanted to keep contact between herself and some of the spirits. Twilight's punishment was written about in history books so that future generations will know what happened. Twilight never spoke ill of the spirits of the guardians as they had only been doing their job in order to protect the law. She knew that it had been her own fault that she had been imprisoned. She was just glad that she was finally out as she had missed her friends and her family and Celestia and Luna a lot. As she looked back on her and Celestia's mistake she realized how stupid she had been and Celestia also realized how stupid she had been. Twilight wouldn't have been mummified and placed inside a pyramid if she had just followed the rules and not gift Twilight immortality. She was going to pay close attention to the rules so that she didn't break anymore of them as she didn't want to be imprisoned ever again. In the end Twilight was allowed to keep her immortality until her friends grew old and died and once they were dead she would kill herself so she could be with them. She told her friends and Celestia this and her friends were happy to hear about this and a Celestia was happy to hear about this plan as she wanted Twilight to be with her friends in the afterlife. Twilight and her friends went to a lot of places with eachother the next few following days to make up for the time that they had lost due to Twilight being locked up in the pyramid. Once they did that they continued hanging out with eachother. Twilight and Celestia never broke another law ever again.
