Chapters Two college seniors walked down the beach barefoot just as the sun was lowering over the horizon. The sky was painted in beautiful oranges and purples and dark blues. It looked like something out of a fairy tale.
Twilight gripped Sunset’s hand tighter as they walked. It was late spring and they were just about to graduate from UCLA and USC respectively.
They had been living together since junior year and they wouldn’t have it any other way. The short drive to the beach made the longer drive to each of their schools from the condo they rented worth it. Not to mention they were only a few hours drive away from Canterlot, so they could go back and see Twilight’s family and their friends whenever they were in town.
“It’s so beautiful out here. I love the beach. I always wanna live near the beach,” Twilight marveled, looking up as stars slowly began to show herself. Sunset nodded.
Twilight pulled Sunset over closer to the water where the tide was rolling in. The foaming sea water washed up over her bare feet, sandals abandoned farther up the beach. Sunset stood behind her, arms wrapped around her waist as she rested her chin on Twilight’s shoulder.
Twilight adjusted her glasses. They were a different frame than what she wore in high school, but still were black with small silver gems on the corners. She leaned into Sunset’s embrace, resting her hands on Sunset’s.
After a few minutes, Twilight spotted something shiny down in the sand. She reached down to grab it just as the waves rolled away from it.
“Look, a seashell.” She held up the seashell. It was a beautiful blend of orange and purple. Twilight had never seen a seashell that color. It matched the sky perfectly.
“Sunset, it looks like us!!” Twilight spun around and dropped the seashell to the ground, her eyes filling with tears.
Sunset, who was down on one knee, held out a velvet purple box. Inside was a beautiful diamond ring, silver and sparkling.
“Twilight, I loved you for as long as I can remember. Since I pulled you out the sky, I knew that there was something special between us. There’s no other person in any world that I would want to spend my life with. You’re caring and smart and beautiful, you’re perfect in every way.” Sunset took a deep breath, smiling at Twilight in earnest.
“Twilight Sparkle, will you marry me?”
In that moment, it felt like time stopped. The tears spilled over Twilight’s eyes as she looked between the ring and Sunset’s smiling face. She too was starting to cry.
“Yes! Yes, a million times yes!”
Sunset carefully slid the ring onto Twilight’s left ring finger, pulling her into a celebratory kiss. Twilight melted into it, a huge smile on her face.
“I love you, so much. I couldn’t ask for a better fiancee,” Twilight said as they broke apart.
“I love you too, more than anything here or in Equestria.”
The two smiled at each other. Twilight pulled away to inspect the ring.
“It’s so pretty.” She held it up in the sky, catching the last rays of sunlight as they glinted off the diamond.
“Just like you.” Sunset smiled, lightly tapping her nose.
Twilight beamed, grabbing Sunset back into another hug.
“We’ll always be together, right?” Twilight looked up at Sunset just as the sun finally set over the horizon. The stars twinkled above them as they held each other.
“Of course, baby. I’m never going to let anything bad happen to you, that’s a promise.” Sunset lightly nuzzled the top of Twilight’s head.
“A pinkie promise?” Twilight held up her pinkie on her left hand. Sunset smiled.
“A pinkie promise,” Sunset confirmed, locking her pinkie in with Twilight’s. They shook on it before Twilight spun around to look out across the ocean. She leaned back on her now fiancee, letting her head rest on her chest.
“Just three more weeks, then we get to spend the rest of our lives together.” Sunset murmured, holding onto Twilight tightly.
“And I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Starting with a bang!
These are the glasses I imagine Twilight wearing through college, but add some silver rhinestones on the corners above the eyes. After each chapter I will provide visual aids for references throughout the chapter, including clothes and such. I already have the girls' wedding dresses in mind

The Start of the Rest of Our Lives
Twilight stood outside on the University of California; Los Angeles campus, pacing. She was wearing a purple dress and white heels, the diamond on her finger glinting in the light.
“Sunset! What happens if they don’t show up!” She looked towards her fiancee, running her frantic hands through her curled indigo hair.
“Calm down Twily. They’ll be here. They wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Sunset crossed her arms over her chest. She was wearing a simple blouse and mini skirt with pumps while watching Twilight pace only minutes before she was supposed to graduate.
The people missing in question?
Her parents.
“Yeah Twily, mom and dad wouldn’t miss your graduation.” Shining Armor said, leaning up against his car with a 5 year old Flurry Heart in his arms.
“Oh my god they’re here!” Twilight looked over to where her dad’s car was pulling in three spaces down from Shining Armor and Sunset’s cars. Twilight ran up to Sunset, slipping the ring off her fingers and shoving it into the redhead’s hands.
“My mom can't know, not yet,” she whispered, trying her best to hide the ring from her brother too. She didn’t miss the wink Cadence shot her as she came around from the back of Shining’s car holding Flurry’s backpack.
Sunset nodded, slipping the ring into her skirt pocket for safe keeping. Twilight grabbed her cap and gown from where they were sitting next to Sunset’s on her car’s hood, shooting a smile at her parents as they climbed out of their car, running inside to get to her seat.
“There’s still 30 minutes until the ceremony starts, she couldn’t have stuck around to talk to us?” Twilight Velvet asked, checking her watch as she and Night Light walked up to the rest of the group.
“She’s just stressed,” Sunset said, trying to sound nonchalant. She was slightly freaking out too, considering neither of them had told anybody about their engagement. It was hard to keep it a secret, but they planned to tell everyone when they got back to Canterlot after Sunset’s graduation the following week.
“We should go get our seats! Make sure we can all sit together!” Cadence interrupted, shouldering Flurry’s backpack. She put a hand on Shining and Sunset’s back, guiding them in through the entrance designated for visitors. Sunset shot her an appreciative look. She just smiled back.
They followed the signs through the hallways to the auditorium, which was quite a ways away from the entrance and through an outdoor area. Once inside, Sunset managed to spot Twilight scrambling to her seat, wearing her gown but still holding the cap decorated with all sorts of honors hanging off it. The group of six climbed up the stairs to the seating up above for families. They found a spot on the second row where they could all sit and see.
Flurry climbed out of her father’s arms, climbing over Sunset and sitting on the other side of her. Sunset moved to the side and picked Flurry back up, moving her to sit in between her father and soon-to-be aunt.
“That ring was like the one mommy wears,” she whispered so only Sunset could hear. Sunset blushed.
“You saw that?” Her eyes widened as the five-year-old nodded.
“Okay, you need to keep that a secret. Don’t tell anyone , got it?” Flurry nodded reluctantly.
“Can I see it?” She looked up at Sunset with her big blue eyes and the redhead almost took the ring out of her pocket to show the little girl. Almost.
“After the ceremony, okay?” She compromised. Flurry Heart pouted but nodded her head. There was an older kid sitting in front of her, maybe 10 year old or so. She crossed her arms.
“I can’t see,” she said plainly. Shining Armor looked down at his daughter.
“You don’t need to see, baby. It’ll still be a while before Auntie Twilight gets her diploma.” Shining ruffled her purple and blue hair. Flurry still pouted.
“I wanna see!” She was necessarily loud, but a few groups around them looked over at her with judging looks.
“Flurry Heart, quiet!” He lightly slapped her wrist as she flailed her arms. She looked ready to cry.
Sunset suddenly grabbed the girl, pulling her into her lap. Now she could see over the space between the boy and what appeared to be his younger sibling who was tapping away on a tablet.
“Better?” Sunset asked. Flurry nodded.
“Good. No more outbursts, kay?” Flurry nodded again.
Sunset pulled her phone out and began scrolling through Ponygram, idly passing the time. Flurry looked over at her screen.
“Whatcha doing?”
“Nothing.”
“Well obviously you’re doing something.” Flurry gave Sunset a cheeky smile as the older girl raised an eyebrow at her.
Sunset didn’t respond, going back to her phone.
“I’m bored,” Flurry said after a few more minutes.
“We all are,” Sunset responded.
“How much longer until we can leave?”
“We just got here.” Sunset looked at the clock on her phone saying they had only been sitting down for going on ten minutes.
“How much longer?”
“Like five hours, maybe. If we’re lucky.”
“That’s so long!” Flurry Heart exclaimed.
A few minutes passed before Sunset got a text.
Twily: We can leave after I get my diploma. I am not sticking around. The chick next to me won’t stop talking about the sex she had with her boyfriend last night.
Sunny: Just tell her about the sex we had last week ;)
Twily: Sunset!
Sunny: It’ll shut her up
Twily: I’m not telling a girl I’ve never met about my sexual encounters, no matter how quiet it may make her.
Sunny: Shame. I wish I could pull that card on your niece
Twily: Is she being a brat?
Sunny: Kinda
Twily: This should only take a few hours before they get to S , and the ceremony will be starting soon. After that we can ditch, even if the rest of my family wants to stay. Relay the message.
Sunny: Okay babe. Ily
Twily: I love you too.
Sunset put her phone away, leaning forward to get the other four adults’ attention.
“Twi said she wants to leave after she gets her diploma,” she said. The others all turned to look at her.
“Thank god,” was Shining’s response. Everyone laughed at that, even Flurry although she didn’t quite understand.
“That’s fine, as long as I get lots of pictures!” Velvet was always the mom to take a million pictures at every event any of her family went to. Sunset was convinced she had enough pictures of Flurry Heart’s first day of school to give every person in Canterlot a different photo and still have some left. Sunset and Cadence laughed at that while Shining just blushed.
Waiting for upwards of five hours and having to sit still the whole time wasn’t Sunset’s ideal way to spend her Saturday, but she really didn’t mind if it was to support Twilight. She had never missed any event in their five years together, and Twilight had never missed any of hers.
Finally they got to the S category, and from there it was close to another fifteen minutes before Twilight’s name was called.
As she walked across the stage smiling, Velvet was snapping as many pictures on her phone as she could. They hadn’t allowed large cameras up in the seating area, so she was stuck with her simple smartphone zoomed as far in as she could possibly make it.
Sunset found herself tearing up a bit as she watched Twilight get her diploma. She had managed to earn her Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering and her Masters in Bioethics both in her four years at UCLA and Sunset was beyond proud of her. It was Twilight’s dream to revolutionize America, and maybe even the world, and Sunset had no doubt in her mind she would accomplish that.
Twilight walked off the stairs and out the side door, holding her diploma in one hand and pulling her phone out with the other. She slipped into the hallway and sent Sunset a text.
Twily: I just left through the side door, meet me out in the gardens.
Sunny: Okay, we’re on our way
Sunset held up her phone to Shining Armor, showing him the texts. He nodded and turned to Cadence.
“Can we go now?” Flurry asked excitedly. Sunset nodded.
The five left, stepping over people’s bags and feet and around small children as they made their way out the back entrance up on the balcony seating and down the staircase so as to not disturb others.
Sunset led them across the campus and out to the beautiful gardens where she and Sunset often had picnics when the nearby park was crowded.
They spotted Twilight sitting near the pond, her gown off and sitting next to her. She still wore her cap and was toying with the yarn hanging off of it. Upon seeing her family, she stood up and rushed over.
Sunset pulled her into a hug first, passing Flurry to Shining Armor.
“Oh, I knew you could do it!”
Twilight reached for the pendant hanging around her neck. While yes it was tacky for a graduation, she still always wore it. Her magic was weaker as the group was separated, but she could still jump into action if it was needed.
Everyone else went around, hugging Twilight and giving her their congratulations. Then it was time for pictures. Twilight rolled her eyes as Velvet ran off to get her camera.
“Ten bucks she gets lost on the way back,” Night Light said, laughing.
“Twenty,” Shining challenged.
“I’ll go thirty,” Sunset chimed in.
“No way, she’s not that bad, twenty-five” Twilight shook her head, tassels hitting her in the face.
“I’m with Sunset, thirty-two.” Cadence one-upped the redhead, causing her to mock gasp.
“What about one hundred!” Flurry cried from her father’s arms. The rest of the family laughed.
After no short of a thousand pictures had been taken, and after they had only stopped before Velvet had run out of memory storage on her camera, the group finally decided to go get something to eat before heading home.
“Hey, is it okay if Flurry rides with us? I promised to show her the ring,” Sunset whispered to Cadence, who was holding the child in question.
“Sure!” Cadence smiled, winking again. She handed Flurry’s backpack to Sunset.
“Let me get the booster seat.” The older woman smiled and Flurry giggled.
After strapping in the pink booster seat, followed by Flurry herself, into Sunset’s car. They were ready to go. They had settled on going to Sho-Gun , a Japanese grill downtown where they cooked the food at the table.
Once all three were buckled in, Sunset pulled the engagement ring from her pocket and handed it back to Twilight.
“Show Flurry,” she said simply as she turned on the car. Twilight raised an eyebrow.
“She’s a smart kid, figured it out herself. She really takes after you, Twilight.” Twilight blushed and smiled as she slipped the ring on her finger and turned around to show Flurry Heart.
“Woah. It’s so pretty!” Flurry gushed, reaching out for it. Twilight pulled her hand back.
“Don’t touch it, please.” Flurry nodded.
“Now what are we not going to do?” Sunset asked from the front seat. She looked up at the mirror to see Flurry in the backseat.
“Tell anyone.”
“Especially Grandma and Papa.” Twilight reminded her. As much as she loved her parents, she knew that if her mom knew about her engagement, she would take over her wedding.
After an uneventful dinner, Twilight’s family all started the drive home and Sunset and Twilight returned to their condo.
Twilight, now wearing her pajamas, collapsed onto her and Sunset’s bed. Sunset giggled at her.
“Remind me to never wear heels again. I’m going barefoot at our wedding.” Twilight grumbled.
“Noted.” Sunset laughed.
She climbed into bed beside Twilight, pulling her under the covers and into her side. She lightly kissed the top of her head.
“You know I’m super proud of you, right?”
“Yeah. I’m proud of you too.” Twilight curled up onto herself, resting her head on Sunset’s chest.
“This is your day, you’ll get to shower me with affection next week,” she said, mostly joking.
“You know, about our wedding…” Twilight said after a few minutes of comfortable quiet.
“What about it, baby?” Sunset ran a hand through Twilight’s hair.
“There’s so much that goes into the planning and- and I don’t know if I can handle it.” Twilight began to tear up.
“No, no crying. Not tonight. Sunset wiped at the few tears that rolled down Twilight’s cheek. “You’re great at organization and planning, Twily. I’ll be there every step of the way too, you won’t be doing this alone. If it really stresses you, we can get a wedding planner to help out. But that isn’t what’s really bothering you, is it?”
“Damn you’re good,” Twilight mumbled.
“Well- I- I don’t think I want to tell my mom I’m engaged. Ever. I don’t want her to find out until she shows up at the wedding. I love her- but she gets too caught up in everything. She made Shining’s wedding her dream wedding, not his. I don’t want that to happen to me.” Twilight wrapped her arms around Sunset’s waist, cuddling into her closer.
“Then we won’t tell her. The wedding is going to be our wedding, not hers.”
“You agree, just like that?”
“Well she isn’t my mom. It’s your family, you can tell or not tell them whatever you want.”
Twilight smiled as she pondered this.
“I really did get lucky with a girl like you, didn’t I?” she asked, looking up at her beautiful fiancee.
“No, I think I’m the one who got lucky.” Sunset smiled.
“Cheeseball.” Twilight leaned up to lightly kiss Sunset on the nose.
“I’m your cheeseball.”
Twilight playfulled groaned, pulling the covers up over her head. Sunset reached over and flicked off the lights.
“But seriously, I love you.” Twilight peaked out from under the covers, settling herself back in Sunset’s arms.
“I love you too. Goodnight, Twily.
“Goodnight, Sunny.”
Author's Note
I really had fun writing this chapter. I liked writing Flurry a lot, it's like she practically wrote herself.
For anyone wondering, I imagine Twilight's ring looks a little like this:
I decided I'm not going to show Sunset's graduation. I was going to in this chapter but forgot about it and it was already super long. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts.
“Do you think we should tell them first thing?”
Twilight sat in the passenger seat on Sunset’s car as they drove into their hometown, slowly cruising down the streets and towards the chapel Pinkie had rented out for their huge “We made it!” party.
“If you want to,” Sunset said, reaching over and taking Twilight’s right hand in her left.
“I think I wanna wait until someone points it out. This is our college graduation party, not our engagement party.” Twilight giggled to herself, glancing down at the ring on her finger. From the backseat of the car, Spike voiced his agreement.
Soon they found the chapel and parked the car. As they climbed out intertwined their hands. Twilight let Spike out of the car, waiting for him to find a nice bush to pee in before they went inside. Sunset locked the car as they walked up the steps, Spike trailing behind. Sunset went to open the door but was instead greeted with Pinkie’s ecstatic face as she pulled it open instead.
“Twilight! Sunset! Come on in!” The pink woman was just as bubbly as she was in high school and welcomed the duo with open arms. She pulled them into a hug before dragging them off to where she had set up the party.
Twilight spotted Rainbow Dash and Applejack talking across the room and Rarity organizing the snack table.
“We’re just missing Fluttershy! She said she got caught up in traffic. Ooh! And someone special,” Pinkie said, winking at the last part as she bounced over to Rarity. She picked up a cup of punch and handed it to Sunset. Sunset and Twilight exchanged a look, but otherwise said nothing.
“How is this? I tried adding pineapple juice to my recipe. Rarity says it’s too sweet but Rainbow says it needs more cranberry juice.”
Sunset took a sip, tasting the unnatural purplish-red colored drink.
“Hmm, what all is in this?”
“One cup of cranberry juice, two cups of grape juice, half a cup of pineapple juice, and a cup of apple juice,” Pinkie listed off.
“It’s surprisingly not bad, good job Pinkie!” Sunset handed the cup to Twilight for her to taste. Twilight nodded in agreement.
“Could use less apple juice. It’s a little overpowering,” she said. Pinkie whipped out her phone and jotted down the critique in her notepad.
They heard a car pull up into the parking lot and Pinkie ran off, saying something about going to greet Fluttershy. Twilight and Sunset look at each other, sharing a giggle.
“So darlings, how was your graduation?” Rarity asked, walking up to the two.
“Mine was outdoors in the hot California sun. Talk about miserable,” Sunset crossed her arms and glared at the floor. Rarity laughed and Twilight shuddered at the memory.
“It was actually great, Twilight’s was worse though,” Sunset looked back up.
“It was not!” Twilight objected.
“You weren’t the one who had to hold your bratty niece for five hours.” Sunset rolled her eyes and Twilight narrowed her eyes at Sunset playfully.
Twilight giggled, rolling her eyes in response.
Pinkie suddenly came bouncing back in, Fluttershy walking next to her and a taller boy on her arm.
“Flutters!” Rainbow called, walking up with Applejack. Fluttershy waved, walking over and giving Rainbow a huge hug.
“Ooh who’s the boy?” Rarity inquired. Pinkie looked ready to burst with excitement.
“This-” Pinkie gestured grandly to the boy, “- is Cheese Sandwich. My boyfriend.” She demonstrated by pecking him on the cheek. He returned the affection, nuzzling the top of her poofy hair.
“Eeee! Twilight squealed. Sunset smiled widely and the other three nodded in approval.
“I assume these are the lovely girls you’ve told me so much about?” Cheese asked, scanning each girl up and down.
“Yes! This is Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Sunset Shimmer, and Twilight Sparkle,” she motioned to each girl as they were introduced, each one giving a wave and a smile to Cheese in response.
As Twilight waved, the ring on her finger caught the light. Pinkie suddenly stopped, eyes lasering in on the shiny light. She ran up to Twilight, grabbing her wrist and turning her hand over to look at the stone.
“NO WAY!” She exclaimed. All the others gathered around, confused.
“You got engaged!!” Rarity almost spit out the punch she was drinking, grabbing Twilight’s hand to get a closer look. Sunset stood a little bit behind them, arms crossed over her chest and smirking. Cheese came up to get a closer look too.
“It’s beautiful,” Fluttershy gushed. All the other girls gave their compliments, oohing and aahing at her new ring.
“How’d you do it?” Rainbow asked, looking up towards Sunset. She smiled.
“At the beach just between Sunset and Twilight.” Sunset could hardly contain the excitement on her face. She had tried to act nonchalantly, but she was over the moon with happiness.
“Oh it must have been amazing,” Fluttershy marveled. Rarity nodded in agreement.
“I’m sure it was perfect,” she said.
“It was,” Twilight breathed, recalling the very fond memory.
“And just ta’ think this time five years er’go Twilight was head over heels for Timber Spruce,” Applejack said, looking between the newly engaged couple.
Twilight blushed, recalling her fling with Timber. It had only lasted a few months. It had been fun, but her feelings for Sunset had been so much stronger. The two of them just hadn’t worked out. They couldn’t have when she was in love with someone else.
“Where are you going to have the wedding?” Cheese asked. Sunset and Twilight looked at each other.
“We actually haven’t given it much thought. It’s only been a month,” Sunset said. Twilight nodded.
“Can I plan it? Can I plan it!?” Pinkie asked, bouncing up and down.
“Of course you can, Pinkie.” Twilight assured her.
“Oh! What about Camp Everfree?” Rainbow asked.
“Camp Everfree? Why there, darling?” Rarity asked. Rainbow shrugged.
“I dunno, it just seemed like a nice place. You could get married on the dock we built, take pictures in the forest, and have the party in the Crystal Cave.” Rainbow explained.
Twilight looked back at her fiancee with puppy dog eyes. “Babe, can we have our wedding at Camp Everfree? Please???” She begged. Sunset giggled, moving closer and leaning forward to press her lips to Twilight for a moment.
“Of course we can. What ever you want,” she giggled, leaning back.
“Awwwww…” everyone cooed. Sunset and Twilight blushed, Twilight burying her face into her hands.
“I can get in contact with Gloriosa! I’m sure she’d love to rent you the camp for the wedding,” Fluttershy said. Sunset nodded.
“Thanks Flutters.”
“I can make everyone’s dresses!” Rarity offered. Everyone nodded.
“Oh! I call being one of Sunny’s bridesmaids!” Pinkie jumped up and down. They all laughed.
“Of course, Pinkie.” Sunset smiled and nodded.
“We can figure out arrangements later, darlings.” Rarity said, typing something in her notes app.
“Don’t forget Spike! He’ll look great in an adorable little tux!” Fluttershy scooped the dog up off the floor, scratching behind his ear and under his chin.
“Of course I would!” Spike agreed, licking the side of Fluttershy’s face, sending her into a small fit of giggles.
“Did that dog just talk?” Cheese asked, looking between the girls with a bewildered look on his face. They all laughed.
“You get used to it,” Rainbow said, jabbing her elbow against his chest.
“Oh! Flurry will need a dress too. It’s a given that she’ll be our flower girl!” Twilight suddenly remembered. Rarity nodded.
“I’ll need to retake everyone’s measurements, but I can definitely make everyone look absolutely fabulous.”
“Cheese and I will plan the party!” Pinkie offered.
“Ah can get Rara to play music if y’all want,” Applejack said.
Sunset and Twilight nodded.
“That would be lovely AJ,” Sunset thanked her.
“Hey! What can I do?” Rainbow asked.
“Uh, find a catering company?” Sunset snickered at Twilight’s response.
“Sure,” Rainbow nodded, taking Twilight’s half-joke, surprisingly well.
“Thank you everyone for offering to help. What would we do without you?” Twilight looked around and smiled at her best friends.
“Yeah, I honestly should have thought things through a little bit more before proposing,” Sunset chuckled.
“But I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Twilight leaned back, leaning up against her fiancee. They two smiled at each other for a moment before looking away.
“Now that we’re all here and have all this settled, how about we get this party started!” Pinkie ran over to the wall, flicking a switch. Confetti rained down from the ceiling, a disco ball lowered, and fast beat music began to play as colored spotlights moved across the walls and floor.
“Wow! You really outdid yourself, Pinks!” Rainbow called over the music.
“Last to the dance floor is a rotten apple!” Pinkie yelled back, breaking into the sprint towards the metallic dance floor none of them had noticed previously. They all laughed, chasing after Pinkie.
Twilight and Sunset had never been happier to have the best group of friends in the world as they followed the group to the dance floor, smiling and laughing the whole way.

Next chapter: The girls go on summer vacation in Hawaii (And Twilight makes a few decisions that could defintly shake things up)
Sunset was shaking with nerves as they stood at the terminal, waiting to board their plane. The thought of being inside an aircraft thousands of feet in the air terrified her.
“It’s gonna be okay. I promise. It’s a short trip, just a few hours. There probably won’t be any turbulence.” Twilight stepped up beside her, wrapping her arm around Sunset’s waist as she tried to calm her down.
“It shouldn’t be possible. Pegasi are small because they have to fly, that thing is huge!” Sunset wildly gestured out the window towards a plane in the loading dock.
“It’ll be okay. You can sleep the whole way there and we’ll all have such a fun time in Hawai’i you won’t even remember the trip there.” Twilight took Sunset’s hand into her free hand and began to lightly stroke her knuckles, trying to settle her nerves.
Sunset didn’t respond, her eyes trained on the airplane.
“Is there anything I can do to help? I hate seeing you upset,” Twilight asked, laying her head on Sunset’s shoulder. Sunset moved to rest her head on top of Twilight’s.
“I-I don’t know.” She let out a watery laugh. “I’m supposed to be the strong one.”
“Who said that?” Twilight asked, slightly alarmed.
“No one. It’s just… You’re the small and delicate one. I guess that makes me feel like I have to be strong and always protect you,” Sunset mumbled, looking to the ground and running her foot along the break in the tile floor.
Twilight sighed.
“Baby, you don’t have to be ‘the strong one’. We’re both allowed to feel emotions and be sad or scared sometimes, okay? You’ve been comforting me through everything for five years now. Let me help you, okay?” Twilight moved her hand from the small of Twilight’s back up to Sunset’s hair, stroking gently.
“Hey! Lovebirds! We gotta go!” Rainbow’s voice cut through the terminal, startling a few families around them.
“They’re having a moment!” Rarity chastised.
“We’re gonna be the last ones on the plane!” Rainbow pointed to where everyone else was heading out of the terminal and going to board the plane.
Pinkie came bounding over, holding a hotdog nobody had seen her get through security.
“Come on! The plane isn’t that scary!”
“Pinkie! You aren’t helping,” Rarity said, grabbing the woman by the arm and pulling her away from Sunset and Twilight. Sunset looked to Twilight.
“Is it really going to be okay?” she asked. Twilight had never seen that look on Sunset before, true fear. Those who had seen her transformation at the Fall Formal might say they had seen it in her eyes before, but Twilight hadn’t. This wasn’t just some silly fright caused by Sunset not being native to this world, this was real. Twilight thought back to all those horrible plane crash reports she had read out at a sleepover in high school. He mentally kicked herself, knowing that she might be responsible for her fiancee’s fright.
Twilight took hold of Sunset’s hands again.
“Yes, Sunny. It’s going to be okay. I’ll be right next to you the whole time and it’ll be over before you know it, and we’ll have a super fun time with everyone in Hawai’i. Trust me, okay?”
Sunset bit her bottom lip and nodded.
“Okay, I trust you.”
“Come on, let’s go get on the plane.” Twilight gave Sunset a warm smile that Sunset found herself returning. She let herself be dragged off by Twilight, following the rest of the group as they boarded the plane.
Finally they were all seated. Twilight was in the window seat with Sunset next to her and Fluttershy on the aisle seat. Behind them were Rarity, Rainbow, and Applejack. Pinkie sat in the aisle seat in the row across from them. Twilight reached over and grabbed Sunset’s hand as the redhead lightly shook.
“Close your eyes and relax. It’ll be okay,” Twilight whispered. Sunset laid her head on top of Twilight’s shoulder, trying to relax her body.
With only minimal tears, she got through take off okay, and managed to sleep until landing. Resting with her head on Twilight’s chest, the sound of her heartbeat helped calm her down and before she knew it she was fast asleep.
When they reached the main island, Sunset was buzzing with excitement. This was only the third vacation she had been on, and the first had been a cruise crashed by equestrian magic. Hawai’i was so beautiful, and Sunset had always loved the ocean. She was really hoping everything went well.
As they made their way out of the airport after picking up their bags, it seemed everyone was too excited to talk. The group walked in silence, Sunset’s hand held firmly in Twilight’s.
Their hotel was just about a block from the airport, thankfully. Using the GPS on Rarity’s phone, they were able to find their way fairly easily, only getting turned around once. Even from their hotel they could hear the waves crashing on the beach. They had reserved three rooms, all connected. One was a suite, the other two were more plain. Suite was putting it lightly. It was more or less a small apartment, with it’s own private balcony, a separate bedroom and an entire living room and kitchen. They had splurged a little so they could have some more comfortable living space for the two weeks they were vacationing there. Even then, the two connected rooms had two king sized beds each and lavishly large bathrooms.
“How are we going to split up?” Fluttershy asked as they entered the hotel room. They set their bags down around the door, walking into the hotel room and taking a tour of it in unison.
“There’s five total beds, right?” Rarity asked, Twilight nodded as she was connecting her phone to the free wifi.
“I say Sunset and Twilight take the bedroom in the suite, Fluttershy and Pinkie can have the two in that room.” She pointed to the connecting door on the right, that led to the second room. “And Rainbow, AJ, and I will sleep in the other room, Rainbow and Applejack sharing a bed.” She gestured to the other door. Everyone readily agreed, taking their bags to their respective rooms.
“Why do you think Rarity wanted us to have the bedroom?” Twilight asked as she sat on the bed. It was incredibly soft and she sank into the mattress, letting out a relaxed sigh as she popped her joints after being on a plane for four hours.
Sunset looked at her with bemusement on her face.
“Twi, we’re an engaged couple. Why do you think they gave us the bedroom?” Sunset raised an eyebrow at the younger girl.
Twilight’s face went read, realization setting in. “Oh, OH!” Sunset giggled.
“Come on, let’s finish unpacking then we can hit the beach,” Sunset said, reaching over to ruffle Twilight’s hair. Twilight giggled and nodded, standing up to take her laptop out of her backpack.
Twilight couldn’t help but start to worry after her engagement was brought up, reminding her that she still had yet to tell her family, and it had been almost two months. As Sunset happily unpacked her things, humming an old Rainbooms’ tune to herself, Twilight’s mind raced. She tried to shake the thoughts away, but she knew they would come back later.
...
The water was amazing.
It was both warm and cooling at the same time as Sunset sat at the edge, letting the waves wash up over her before they receded again.
Everyone around her was having a great time too. Applejack and Rainbow Dash were in the water, bouncing a beach ball back and forth. Sunset watched it go back and forth, waiting for one of them to drop it and for it to get swept away by the ocean. Twilight was behind her in the sand, back far enough that the waves didn’t touch her when they came crashing in. She had left her ring in the bedroom, not wanting it to get dirty. At least, that’s what she told Sunset. She really had left it behind so maybe she didn’t have to think about the engagement at all. She loved Sunset and wouldn’t change anything for the world, but it seemed that it was all that was ever on her mind. She watched Sunset as she ran her hands through the sand, letting it fall through her fingers as she people watched.
Rarity was farther up on the beach, laying on a chaise that had seemingly come out of nowhere. Seriously, nobody knew where she had gotten it. She was sunbathing, sunglasses over her eyes as she watched birds fly by overhead and studied the moving clouds.
Pinkie and Fluttershy were building a sand castle, but Fluttershy was definitely more interested in the little sea creatures that washed up with the tide. Pinkie however, was building what was probably the grandest sand castle on the whole beach, maybe even the whole island. All that time building things out of sweets, or lack of time spent on them really, must have paid off.
Everyone was having a great time, enjoying the first day of their vacation. It was amazing, getting to relish in the warm sun without a care in the world. No college classes to worry about, no overdue homework, no approaching school year. They were finally free and could move on with their lives. And that started today, on a beautiful beach in Hawai’i, just spending time together.
They stayed there all day, and once the sun had dipped over the horizon, they finally packed up to go back to their hotel. It was beachfront, meaning they only had to walk up a boardwalk to get back to the building, where they then rode the elevator back up to their rooms and split off to get changed. Twilight had made them a dinner reservation a few blocks away, and they were all starving.
They decided once again to just travel on foot, being cheaper than to rent a car. It seemed things were pretty close together in the area. As they entered the restaurant, twilight gave the hostess her name and they were led to their reserved table. With a group of seven, it was always a great idea to reserve seats in restaurants when they went anywhere. Even if it meant they were on a time crunch, they would still have enough seats.
As menus were passed around, Sunset zeroed in on the back page, which displayed all their different alcoholic drinks. Sometimes, she forgot she was of age. It had been quite a while since she had had anything special like this.
“Get one if you want, nobody’s stopping you. All long as you don’t get too tipsy.” Twilight said with a laugh, looking down at her own menu. Sunset slowly turned to look at her.
“How did you…” She trailed off as Twilight looked at her.
“I know you, Sunny.” she gave her a wink, going back to her own menu.
Their server appeared to take their drink orders and they all went around, Sunset deciding on a Long Island Iced Tea. They chatted while they waited for their drinks to return and to order their food. Looking around the room, Sunset saw it was full of both locals and tourists. There was a large bay window directly across from Sunset and she could see the ocean from her seat. It was almost dark out and stars were starting to appear outside. She couldn't help but think of how great it would be to take a moonlit walk hand in hand with her beautiful fiancee.
“Sunset, darling?” She was startled out of her daydream by Rarity tapping on her shoulder. She blinked a few times.
“Uh, yeah?”
Rarity slid her drink to her.
“What are you getting?” she motioned towards the waiter holding a notepad. She picked up her menu, quickly located the meal she had picked out earlier.
“I’ll have the seafood ceviche, please.” she blushed in embarrassment, looking up at the waiter.
“You eat seafood?” Rainbow asked as the waiter walked away.
“Just because we have seaponies doesn’t mean I’m emotionally attached to a shrimp.” She rolled her eyes, bringing her drink closer and wrapping her lips around the straw.
“Let’s do a toast!” Pinkie exclaimed, bouncing in her seat.
“Calm down Pinkie,” Applejack said, scooting an inch away from the pink woman and closer to Rainbow.
“That sounds like a lovely idea darling,” Rarity raised her glass of some fancy wine she had found on the menu and everyone else followed suit with both alcoholic beverages and not.
“To graduating college,” Rainbow said, clinking her glass against Applejack and Fluttershy’s.
“Oh oh! To Sunny and Twily’s engagement!!” Pinkie added next. Sunset and Twilight blushed while everyone else laughed. It still felt so taboo to talk about, being two girls engaged in a world dominated by heterosexuals, even if all their friends were supported.
“To this amazing vacation,” Rarity said.
“To Spike, who couldn’t be with us here today,” Fluttershy smiled thinking about the talking dog still at home California.
“To Pinkie’s new boyfriend,” Sunset said. Everyone laughed at that.
“Ta survivin’ until we could legally drink,” Applejack said. They all looked at Twilight.
“To Princess Twilight, for without her we wouldn’t all be here today.” she smiled and they all clinked their glasses together, taking a drink and then easing back into their small talk.
Soon their food arrived and after a hardy meal and a few more drinks, they headed back to their hotel.
Sunset and Twilight sat on the suite balcony alone, holding hands as they star gazed.
Twilight lifted her hand to look at her ring.
“I need to tell them,” she whispered.
Sunset looked down at her.
“Only if you want to. You could always just not tell your mom and if you change your mind later you can tell her, but once you tell her you can’t take it back. Think about it a little bit more, okay?” Sunset rubbed Twilight’s shoulder gently.
“That’s just the thing. I can’t stop thinking about it. And I don’t want to ruin our vacation by worrying about something entirely unrelated the whole time.” Twilight sighed.
“Would it help if you just called your dad now and told him. Just to at least get it out to someone?” Sunset pulled Twilight closer into her.
“Maybe.”
After a few more minutes of silence, Twilight reached for her phone.
“Screw it,” she muttered.
She dialed her dad’s number, waiting as it rang. After a few moments, he picked up.
“Hey dad, we need to talk,” she said. She looked to Sunset for support, who took hold of her hand in response and gave it a squeeze.
“I’m listening,” Night Light responded.
“Sunset and I are engaged. Have been for two months. The wedding is next spring. Mom can’t know, but I needed to tell someone,” she said all in one breath. She considered hanging up right there, just dropping the bombshell and leaving the conversation, not to talk about it for at least another two weeks. She glanced down at her ring.
Night was quiet for a few seconds.
“I already knew that baby. Flurry dropped the bomb when I was visiting your brother last week. We wanted to tell you we knew but you were so worried about getting ready for your vacation.”
Twilight went quiet. Sunset was close enough to hear what was happening on the other end of the phone and began mentally preparing herself for the waterworks if it turned out Twilight Velvet already knew.
“Does mom know?” Twilight asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
“No, we wanted to wait for you to tell her.”
Both girls let out a breath they didn’t realize they were holding.
“Just know that we fully accept you and are beyond happy for you. We always have been.” Night Light added.
“Thank you,” Twilight said. Without another word, she hung up the phone. She needed a moment to think.
“Feel better?” Sunset asked.
“Yeah-” Twilight nodded. “-I really do.” She turned, burying her face into Sunset’s shoulder. She cuddled into her fiancee, wrapping her arms around her waist.
“I feel like I just ran a marathon,” she mumbled.
“More like a mile.” Sunset snickered. Twilight lightly smacked her.
“Rude.”
“You know it’s true babe.”
Twilight snorted, closing her eyes.
“Can we sleep here?” she asked. Sunset giggled.
“No, we need to go to the bedroom.” Sunset shook her head. When it became clear Twilight wasn’t going to move anytime soon, Sunset moved to lift her up, carrying her inside and locking the balcony door behind her. She carried Twilight to the bedroom and said girl was passed out before she ever hit the bed. Sunset giggled, climbing in beside her and drifting off next to her. She felt giddy, unbelievably excited to be married to the beautiful girl next to her in less than a year now.
The rest of their vacation passed too quickly for any of their likings. After two weeks of sight-seeing, swimming, nature walks, and even some mini-golf, it was time to go home. They all had a wonderful time, but all good things must come to an end at some point, right?
As they walked into the airport, Sunset was surprised that her nerves didn’t pick up again. The first flight wasn’t so bad, so how terrible could the second? Just a four hour trip from Honolulu to LAX, it couldn’t be so bad.
Rarity had spent nearly two hours in a gift shop they had visited before they got to the airport and they nearly missed their flight. As they settled into their seats in the same order as before, Sunset took hold of Twilight’s hand.
They could do anything when they were together, couldn't they?

Next Chapter: Interlude I. It's a secret. Come back on Monday, 7/27/2020 to read it!
Sunset had been asleep most of the flight home from their vacation in Hawai’i, but now she was wide awake.
Twilight was crying as she tried to keep a level head and all Sunset could do was hold her as tightly as possible.
She knew her fears were justified! The rest of the girls had made fun of her, but now that it was happening to them she knew she had been scared for real. As their plane barreled towards the pacific ocean, Sunset knew they were all going to die.
A plane crash was rare to survive from. A plane crash into the ocean was even rarer. The only thing keeping her from dissociating and zoning out until she died was Twilight’s death tight grip on her.
This wasn’t how she wanted to go. She wanted to live a happy life with Twilight. She wanted to get married, maybe adopt a kid or to, stop working for shit grocery stores in between classes and find a real job. She wanted to use the art degree she had spent four years and tens of thousands of dollars to get. She didn’t want to go like this. She was only 22, she was too young.
“I love you. I always have,” Twilight sobbed into her fiancee. Her fiancee, who now will never be her wife.
“I have too. Ever since the Friendship Games. Maybe even before that, when you showed up at the school to investigate the portal. I love you baby.” Sunset was crying now too. Fluttershy was curled up into the tightest ball she could be to Twilight’s right, Rainbow and Applejack were clutching each other in a similar fashion to Sunset and Twilight behind them. Rarity and Pinkie were the only two in a position that was supposed to protect them.
“At least we get to die together,” Twilight let out a watery laugh.
“I didn’t even tell my dad I loved him the last time we talked,” she suddenly cried, wailing into Sunset’s chest.
The fall was agonizingly slow and way too fast all at the same time. All Sunset could do was hold Twilight, cry, and accept her death.
Princess Twilight and Sunset’s family would never know what happened to them. Cheese was losing his girlfriend just a year after he had gained her. Everyone’s families were losing their brightest lights. They would never again go to one of Pinkie’s parties, or model clothes for rarity, or go one on one with Rainbow, or help at the shelter with Fluttershy.
She wondered what their families would do to honor them. She couldn’t imagine what she would do if she had lost Twilight. At least they were dying together.
A fire began to spread through the cabin as they hit the water. Sunset was shocked she didn’t die on impact. In her arms, Twilight went limp and stopped crying. She rushed to move her hand, to find a pulse, but felt herself blacking out before she could do anything.
“Sunset! Sunny!”
Sunset heard her name being called as she was being shaken by the shoulder. She groggily blinked her eyes open, groaning. She looked to the source of the voice to see Twilight, safe and smiling.
“You were crying in your sleep. You okay?” she asked, concern seeping into her tone.
“Are-” Sunset coughed. “-are we safe?” She sat up slowly, looking around. People were standing up and getting their carry-ons out of the overhead bins.
“Of course we are. We just landed at LAX.” Twilight shook her head with a laugh.
“Oh, I had a dream that we crashed on the way home.” Tears filled Sunset’s eyes. “You-you died in my arms, Twi.” Twilight reached up and gently caressed Sunset’s face, running her thumb under her eyes to catch her tears.
“Well that didn’t happen, and we’re safe. Come on, we need to get our stuff.” Twilight leaned forward and softly kissed her. Sunset melted into the kiss, still shaken from her nightmare. Feeling Twilight’s lips pressed up against hers, tasting like raspberry lip balm, it helped solidify the fact that this was real, and not just death playing a cruel joke on her.
Twilight grabbed her hands, pulling her out of her seat and reaching up to get their backpacks from the overhead bin.
Twilight lifted her hand to show Sunset her ring.
“See this? It’s real. I’m real. We’re safe. And even if we weren’t, there’s nobody’s arms I’d rather die in than yours.”
Sunset could stare at that smile all day. The reassuring one that made her feel safe and warm and totally in love.
Suddenly Rainbow Dash’s voice cut through their thoughts.
“Hey lovebirds! Let’s get this moving!”
Rainbow pushed past them as they laughed, intertwining their hands together as they made their way after her towards the exit of the plane.

Next Chapter: The Inner Workings of a Wedding. Coming 8/1/2020
Please check out my latest blog post! I'm really struggling for money right now and need to buy equipment for school since I'm switching to public school at home for the 2020-2021 school year because ya know, corona. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated!
The Inner Workings of a Wedding
Rarity scurried around Carousel Boutique, waiting for her next client to arrive. It had been a long day of dress fittings, stitch-ripping and resewing. She had had a particularly rough time with a very picky six year old, who demanded her dress be a rainbow that excluded orange for whatever reason.
She only had one fitting left, and she was beyond excited. As she heard the doorbell ring and someone step inside, she raced to the door to usher Twilight Sparkle inside.
“I’m not too late am I?” she asked, taking off her coat. It was February, which meant the weather was just starting to get warm. Normally, Rarity would hate to do all her fittings so far out, but with famous musician and longtime-childhood friend of Applejack’s Rara going on tour for three months just before the wedding, it was her only option.
“Not at all darling, in fact you’re ten minutes earlier than the time we scheduled.” Rarity took Twilight’s coat from her and hung it up on the wall. She pointed to the clock, showing her the time.
“Oh! I can wait a few minutes if you’re busy!”
“Not at all. Fluttershy left an hour ago. Right this way,” She led Twilight to the fitting rooms where she had Twilight’s dress up on a rack. It wasn’t finished, but it was enough of the way done for Twilight to try it on and get a feel for how it would look.
“Rarity, it’s beautiful!” Twilight gasped as she laid eyes on the dress. Rarity smiled.
“Go ahead and try it on darling.” Rarity took it down off the rack and ushered Twilight into the nearest dressing room, going about the shop and tidying up while she waited for Twilight to change.
She spun around upon hearing the curtain open, Twilight stepping out dressed in a beautiful gown. It looked like something out of a fairytale, so far removed from any wedding stereotype that it was perfectly Twilight.
Twilight made her way over to the mirror, gasping as she caught a glimpse of herself. She looked beautiful, her dress was everything she had ever dreamed of.
“Oh Rarity! You’ve really outdone yourself!” Just the sight of herself wearing the dress he would soon get married to Sunset in brought tears to her eyes.
“I was so happy when you wanted something so different, I’ve never made a dress quite like this. It surely is gorgeous.” Rarity nodded her head, watching Twilight go through all the emotions as she admired herself from every angle.
“Thank you, Rarity. Really. I never imagined I would look this good on my wedding day.” Twilight spun in a circle, admiring how her dress flowed out and around herself.
“Does it fit okay? I still have a few little details to add, but I wanted to make sure it fit you the way you want it too,” Rarity said. Twilight nodded.
“No, it fits great. I really love it. It hugs just the right curves.” She smiled, the same smile she always did when Sunset was around or she was thinking about Sunset. Rarity couldn’t help but pull out her phone and snap a picture, just this once. She wanted to remember how happy Twilight was when she first tried on her dress. She couldn’t wait to see Sunset wearing her’s the next day.
Twilight left the boutique that day with a huge smile on her face and a pair of the most expensive shoes Carousel Boutique sold. Rarity had refused to accept her payment for the dress, but Twilight couldn’t help but want to give her payment for her work. She had plenty of cash to spare now that she had finally landed a high-paying job working in a lab in downtown LA, where she was starting to research for a project she had wanted to work on for years now. The shoes were tacky, but Twilight couldn’t find it in herself to care she was so happy.
…
Sunset walked along the dock of Camp Everfree with Gloriosa Daisy.
“Are you sure Timber’s okay with this?” she asked, looking out at the still lake.
“Oh of course he is! I tonly took him a little while to get over Twilight and stop planning your murder, he’s great now. If you don’t want him to, he won’t even be at the wedding.”
Sunset’s eyes widened at the possibility that her fiancee’s ex had been planning her murder for a period of time. She shrugged it off, hoping Gloriosa was just exaggerating.
“I’m sure Twilight would be okay with him coming, but he doesn’t have too.” Sunset pursed her lips.
“So, you said you wanted a piano,” Gloriosa changed the subject.
“Yes! Rara was so excited to play at our wedding, but somehow we need to get a piano all the way out here…” Sunset looked around the area.
“We could put it up on the gazebo, but if you wanted it closer to the dock I’m sure we could prop it in place with wooden blocks or something.”
“We planned to have Rara step off the docks and to the piano when it was time for everything to start, so we’d prefer it be closer,” Sunset said.
“We’ll figure it out! Now, I heard Pinkie mention fondue…”
“Oh sweet Celestia.”
“That’s what I thought too.”
…
“Are you sure we need at 1o layer cake, Pinkie?” Fluttershy asked.
“Of course we need a ten layer wedding cake! What kinda question is that?”
Pinkie Pie had been tasked with baking and decorating Sunset and Twilight’s wedding cake just a week before the wedding. Now, she was hyped up on a combination of Fun-Dip and raw sugar as she, Fluttershy, and Cheese Sandwich baked.
“How about just six? You know Sunset was never big on cake after Princess Celestia made her eat an entire three layer cake when she was a filly.” Fluttershy shook her head.
Pinkie pondered this for a moment.
“Six it shall be!” Pinkie declared, tossing four of a cake pans back into the cabinet below the kitchen island. “Now, do we dye the frosting rainbow colors or the lesbian pride flag colors?”
“Pinkie, that’s a fantastic idea!” Cheese exclaimed.
“Pinkie, Sunset’s bi and Twilight’s pan. Neither of them are lesbians.” Fluttershy shook her head.
“Rainbow it is then!” Cheese shouted cheerfully.
Fluttershy sighed, picking up a bag of powdered sugar and dragging it to the electric mixer on the counter behind them. She grabbed the box of food coloring.
“It’s gonna be a long day.”
…
“I can’t believe you dragged us to Vegas for our bachelorette party.” Twilight said as Sunset let her through the bright lights of the vegas strip. Applejack and Rainbow walked ahead of them, acting as some sort of body guards as the pushed their way through the crowd down towards the hotel and casino they were staying in. Pinkie and Fluttersh were right behind the almost-married couple with Rarity and Rara holding up the rear as they looked around at all the bright lights for inspiration.
“It’ll be fun Twi! They say it’s our ‘last night of freedom’,” Sunset laughed.
“We’ve been dating for five years and we’ve always had freedom. Are straight people okay?” Twilight asked as Sunset led her into the hotel and casino. Rainbow and Applejack had all of their bags, somehow, while Rara and Rarity wheeled their suitcases behind them.
While Pinkie and Fluttershy went to check in, Twilight looked out across the lobby. It was simple, but beyond the lobby was the casino portion of the hotel, filled with people trying their luck at a million dollars and gambling in games of poker.
While Twilight wasn’t keen exactly on wasting her money on machines she knew were rigged, Las Vegas was a beautiful city at night and Twilight wanted to make sure she got the full experience.
Soon they were in their hotel room, which was more of a lavishly large condo, much larger than the one Twilight and Sunset lived in back home in Los Angeles.
“Woah, this place is gigantic,” Rarity marveled, spinning around in the entryway.
“Yeah, how the hell did you afford this, Sunset?” Rainbow asked.
“I’m an Equestrian Princess, I have more pure gold coins than a human could reasonably need. We could all retire today with less than 1% of all my money. Not to mention, animation at Hasbro pays decently for being just out of college” Sunset said. Rara looked at her like she was crazy, but accepted this fact and rolled with it.
“We’ve got to explore this place later tonight when we get drunk.” Pinkie giggled.
“Oh yeah! I wonder if the mini bar is stocked!” Rainbow ran off into the hotel room, searching for alcohol.
“Ah doubt a place as fancy as this has a mini-bar, Rainbow” Applejack said, but in a flash, Rainbow was gone.
“So, should we hit up a strip club tonight then explore the casinos tomorrow night, or the other way around?” Sunset asked.
“A strip club, really?” Twilight asked almost in disbelief. Really, she should have expected it. Sunset could be extremely vulgar at times, and she knew Sunset was no stranger to strip clubs.
“I’m down,” Rainbow said, running back into the room holding what looked to be a very expensive bottle of wine.
After figuring out where the bedrooms and bathrooms inside the hotel room where, and even getting lost in the master bathroom, they finally changed and made their way out onto the strip.
They ended up in a strip club that catered to both male, female, and non-binary audiences. Pinkie and Sunset had raided an ATM and now as Twilight got a lap dance from a beautiful girl definitely much older than her, she was now extremely glad she was here. She was trying not to think too much about how happy and, as cliche as it sounded, blessed she was considering a stripper was gyrating her hips in her lap.
She glanced over at Sunset who was on her third drink now.
She couldn’t wait to be married now with just a week left until the wedding. Her life was about as perfect as it could possibly be, and all she could imagine was how much better it would get once she was finally married to the love of her life.

Next Chapter: I Love You Through Rain or Shine. Coming 8/3/2020
I Love You Through Rain or Shine
Twilight Sparkle rolled out of bed the morning of her wedding to the sound of rain outside.
It took her a moment to process these sounds. It was raining, on the morning of her outdoor wedding.
Twilight started to panic. They had spent weeks trying to make sure the date they picked wouldn’t throw any surprises at them, but here they were. Twilight felt tears flood her eyes.
“Why are you crying, Twily?” Sunset appeared in the doorway. It wasn’t ‘traditional’ for a couple to be together the morning of their wedding, but there wasn’t much that fit the classic mold about this wedding, what was one more thing?
“It’s raining.” Her bottom lip quivered as she climbed up out of bed and opened the curtains, showing the raindrop streaked glass of the window to Sunset. Sunset smiled sadly.
“It’s gonna be okay, I promise. I’m sure it’ll slack off, the ceremony isn’t until three.” Sunset walked up behind her and wrapped her arms around Twilight’s waist. Twilight leaned back, cuddling into her.
“It’ll be okay.” Sunset said again. A few minutes passed and Twilight could believe she and Sunset were the only people in the world. As they watched raindrops run down the glass and precipitation fall outside, Twilight couldn’t be happier to spend the rest of her life with Sunset.
“So what’s on the agenda for today?” Sunset asked after almost ten minutes of standing like that.
“We need to be at Camp Everfree at noon to direct set up, then hair and makeup at one, then everyone arrives at two, then we get changed at two thirty, then the ceremony starts at three and goes until four, then the reception in the Crystal Cave from four thirty to seven.” Twilight rambled off, recited the schedule she had created for their big day.
“Sounds good. Now, how about breakfast, then we go get our nails done?”
Twilight giggled, nodding. She looked at her nails, bitten down from years of stress and anxiety. It was one habit she never could kick.
“Yeah, I could use some acrylics.” Twilight thought back to the one time her sister-in-law Cadance had taken her to the salon to get a mani-pedi. She had gotten acrylics and broke them within two days, but it was worth it to spend time with Cadance. Sunset laughed, pulling Twilight out of her childhood bedroom, where they were staying while they were in town.
After a breakfast that was probably more sugar than not at Waffle House, Sunset and Twilight made their way downtown to the salon. They walked hand in hand with an umbrella over their heads as it drizzled around them. It was coming up on eight in the morning, just as they opened. Somehow they had managed to spend two hours in a restaurant. Maybe it was the power of being in love and having endless things to talk about.
They continued to talk about mindless things while they got their nails done. Their friends, family, even their future.
Before they knew it, it was time to make their way out to Camp Everfree. Twilight sat in the passenger's seat, watching the rain come down around them. It was almost noon, and the rain was still going strong. It was a race against time.
As they stepped into the camp, the rain lightened up, thankfully. It went from a steady pour to a light drizzle, and Twilight let out a sigh of relief.
Gloriosa was waiting for them while Timber had gotten a U-Haul to get the piano up to the camp.
“So Pinkie and Cheese are in the Crystal Cave setting up the reception, Pinkie planted a party canon under the docks. I have no idea what that’s for.” Gloriosa shook her head. “Fluttershy is setting up the cocktail hour in the craft room, and rarity is unpacking all the dresses in the main office that we’ll have to use to get ready. Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Rara are on their way.” She listed off. Sunset and Twilight nodded and headed off in opposite directions, Sunset towards the Crystal Caves and Twilight to the crafts room.
The cocktail hour started at two, meaning they still had ample time to set it up. As she entered, she was surprised with how much work Fluttershy had managed to do already. The room was set up with ten round tables to each hold six guests. Twilight and Sunset hadn’t invited a ton of people to their wedding, and that was just fine by them.
Twilight helped Pinkie and Cheese bring the cake in from Cheese’s car, the six layer cake having each layer a different color, from top to bottom being pink, purple, blue, a lighter pink, yellow, and a cyan color. Each layer was a different flavor too, and Twilight couldn’t wait to taste it.
Before they knew it, Sunset and Twilight had to run off so Rarity could help them with their hair and makeup. They sat in the main office, Rarity doing Sunset’s hair while Rara who had arrived with Applejack did Twilight’s makeup. Cadence was there too, struggling to get Flurry’s hair in its proper place.
The cocktail hours passed so fast that Sunset and Twilight hardly noticed they were alone for just over an hour. It was time to change before they knew it and Sunset was led into a side room so she and twilight wouldn’t see each other’s dresses until the ceremony.
As Sunset adjusted her dress, looking into the mirror, she heard the door open.
“Hey, sis.”
“Sunburst!” Sunset spun around, looking at her brother. Despite being younger, he towered over her. She adjusted the pins in her hair. “You came!” Sunset was almost shocked to see her brother, even though she had invited him and her family.
“I wouldn’t miss your wedding for the world, even if it’s in another world. Mother and Father are here too, and so is Princess Twilight and Starlight.” He smiled at her and she rushed forward, grabbing him into a hug.
“Wait- are you and Starlight a thing?!” Sunset asked, shocked.
“Uh- yeah,” Sunburst rubbed at the back of his neck. Sunset began to bounce on her toes. The silver high heels she was wearing may be complimenting her icy blue dress, but they didn’t allow for a very wide range of movement.
“Oh, a childhood romance!” Sunset cooed. Sunburst blushed.
“You look beautiful.” he said, gesturing at her. Her hair was loosely curled, her makeup was neutral with hints of glitter that sparkled in the light, her dress was a gorgeous shade of blue that complimented the lightest parts of her eyes. She looked perfect.
“Really it’s all Rarity. She’s the one who did my hair and makeup and made this amazing dress.” Sunset took hold of the sides of the dress and fanned it out to let Sunburst see it in all it’s beauty.
“Sunset. Ceremony starts in five,” Rainbow said, poking her head inside. Sunset nodded.
“I guess I should get to my seat. I’ll see you out there.” Sunburst brought Sunset in for one final hug before leaving. Sunset looked out the window to see the rain had stopped and the sun was shining. On the docks a purple altar with yellow flowers on green vines running up it was set up. There were chairs set up in the lawn in front of it and the aisle was lined with white satin.
Rainbow, Pinkie, and Rarity were Sunset’s bridesmaids, dressed all in similar but different styled dresses tied together with the same teal fabric. They came into the room she was waiting in soon enough and let her out to the docks. All the guests were seated and she spotted her mom and dad in the front room next to her brother and Starlight. Princess Twilight was sitting two rows back. She stood on the dock next to Gloriosa, who had become an officiant for the wedding. The bridesmaids stood beside her, waiting. Rara, Applejack, and Fluttershy came out next and took their spots right in front of where Twilight would be.
Cadence came out of the main office, running up to her seat. She flashed a thumbs up at Rara, who slipped off the docks and to the piano they had wheeled up to the camp. She sat down, organizing her music and beginning to play a traditional wedding tune.
Sunset bit her lip as the door to the main office opened, Flurry Heart and Spike bounding out. Flurry and Spike scattered flower petals in purple, yellow, and blue along the aisle, coming up to the dock. Fluttershy pulled the six year old over to her, standing her in front of her. Spike sat down next to Rarity, watching as Twilight came out next.
She looked beautiful and Sunset almost started crying. Her dress was pink and flowed all around her, layers falling around her farm angelically. Her arm was linked with Night Lights. Sunset to Twilight Velvet. She hadn’t even known she was attending her daughter’s wedding and she was crying as she watched. Twilight flashed her mother a smile as she passed.
In a blink Twilight was standing in front of her. Twilight moved to take Sunset’s hands into her own.
“You look beautiful,” Twilight whispered.
“You look gorgeous,” Sunset returned.
As Glorisoa read off all the traditional wedding commitment stuff, Sunset just stared into Twilight’s eyes. She had sid that veils were dumb and refused to wear one and Sunset could see directly to her beautiful face. She looked down to Twilight’s feet, where she was just wearing a pair of frilly white socks. Sunset giggled.
“Classic,” she whispered. Twilight smiled.
“Do you, Twilight Sparkle, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?” Glorosia asked Twilight,
“Yes, I do.” Twilight smiled wider than Sunset had seen her in a long time.
“And do you, Sunset Shimmer, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?” Glorisoa looked at Sunset. Sunset cracked a smile.
“I do.”
She looked towards the crowd, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
“Or do I?” she asked. The crowd gasped, muttering.
She turned back to Twilight, laughing. “I do, I do.” She nodded her head and Twilight giggled.
Gloriosa smiled, looking at Sunset.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
Sunset pulled Twilight into a kiss, wrapping her arm around her waist as Twilight’s hand graced her cheek as she was tilted backwards slightly.
They broke apart and the crowd clapped, Sunset taking Twilight’s hand and running back towards the main offices. Spike bounded after them.
Rara slipped off the docks again, beginning to play the piano again to send them out. It was off to take photos while the guests were led to the Crystal Cave. Pinkie jumped on a board on the dock, her party cannon appearing out of seemingly nowhere. Confetti and balloons shot out of it
“Let’s get this party started! Follow Cheese Sandwich to the cave!” Pinkie pointed towards Cheese, who was standing off to the side. He gestured to the crowd, leading them to the reception. All the bridesmaids followed with Flurry.
There was a beautiful forest behind the main offices. It was dewy from the earlier rain and slightly fogged over. It was the perfect place for wedding pictures.
Photo Finish lifted her camera. Twilight laid her head on Sunset’s shoulder , Sunset arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her close as she leaned up against a tree they had cleaned off as to not get her dress dirty.
As Photo Finish snapped more pictures than Sunset had had taken of her in her entire lifetime combined, Sunset couldn’t help but think of how happy she was. She was finally married to twilight, all her friends and family were here to celebrate her, and everything was perfect.
Just as they were wrapping up, Spike jumped up into Twilight’s arms for an impromptu photobomb. Both girls laughed, creating the perfect photo. Their little family, including their dog that now for some reason was living way longer than usual dogs. Sunset had attributed it to his ability to talk due to Equestrian magic, but even if he didn’t show many signs of aging, they never knew when they could lose him.
Before they knew it they were running off to the Crystal Cave for their reception. As they entered each holding up their dresses with one hand and holding hands with the other, everyone cheered. They beamed, quickly finding their best friends. Pinkie grabbed them the second she saw them, pulling them both into a bear hug.
“I’M SO HAPPY!” she squealed. They all laughed as Applejack and Rainbow pried Pinkie off of the newly wed couple. “I can’t believe you used the ‘or do i’!” Pinkie laughed once she was back on her feet.
“Pinkie came up with that?” Twilight asked, barely containing her laughter.
“Yeah. I think she meant it as a joke, but I thought it would be funny.” Sunset waved it off.
“I’m so proud of you!” Sunset was suddenly lifted into the air from behind. She began to laugh as Sunburst held her up. Twilight soon was attacked in the same fashion by her brother, giggling.
When Sunset was back on her feet, she wrapped Sunburst into a much more manageable hug. After they broke apart, he stepped aside.
“Mother, Father!” Sunset ran forward, grabbing her misty-eyed parents in a hug. They hugged her back just as tight.
“We’re so happy for you, Sunny,” Sunspot said.
“We’re glad you found someone who makes you happy, and you’re able to live the life you want,” Stellar Flare said. Sunset teared up at that and hugged them tighter.
“I’m glad you’re proud of me,” Sunset whispered. They pulled away, and Sunset turned towards her wife. She held out her hand and Twilight took it.
“It’s wonderful to meet you again,” Twilight shook hands with each of Sunset’s parents. At Sunset’s coronation, Twilight had been introduced to Sunset’s parents, but this was her first time seeing them since high school.
“It’s great to see you making our Sunny so happy,” Stellar Flare said. Twilight just blushed.
The reception was filled with dancing, delicious food, and meeting up with old friends. Twilight and Sunset couldn’t ask for a better wedding.
That night, they crawled into Twilight’s childhood bed together, just like they did in High School. Their dresses hung up in the closet and they were just in their bras and underwear. Sunset rolled on top of Twilight, kissing her as her hands roamed up her sides.
“I love you, Sunny.”
Sunset giggled.
“Not as much as I love you, Twily.”

Originally there was a scene in chapter 5 where Rara taught Sunset how to play the piano and she was going to serenade Twilight by singing "Beautiful Thing" by Grace Vanderwall, but because of site rules it couldn't happen. You san imagine it though.

It's Been Waiting For You (Welcome To New York)
The third plane ride was no less daunting than the first or second, but Sunset managed to get through it without having any nightmares that involved her and all her friends dying.
It had actually been pretty painless. Just her and Twilight in first-class seating on their way to New York for their honeymoon. Twilight spent the entire time holding her hand and listening to audiobooks while Sunset dozed, occasionally waking up to stare out the window at the clouds passing by.
They landed and were soon catching a taxi to their hotel. Sunset had never ridden in a taxi before, so that was something. Small talk with strangers wasn’t really her thing, she learned. Twilight told her that she’d hate Uber.
Twilight got them checked in at the hotel while Sunset connected her phone to the wifi to text their friends and tell them they had landed safely.
Sunset: just landed in NYC and got to the hotel safely.
Pinkie: Yayyy!!! Have lots of fun for me!
RD: Ready to get it on? ;)
Applejack: Happy to hear you made it there okay. Have a nice vacation!
Fluttershy: Make sure to take lots of pictures!
Rarity: If you have the chance, visit an art museum for me and send pictures. I’m thinking of doing a new York inspired fall collection!
Sunset: will do girls!
Sunset smiled at her phone, then looked up to find Twilight standing in front of her, dragging her suitcase behind her and shouldering a backpack that was so full Sunset was surprised it had fit in the overhead compartment on the plane.
“We’re in room 418,” Twilight said, holding up the keycards. Sunset nodded.
“Shall I escort you, Princess?” Sunset held out her hand to her wife.
Twilight giggled curtsying to the best of her ability in her sweatpants.
“You shall, and stuff.” She laughed as she felt Sunset’s hand slip into hers. It was such a natural feeling to Twilight that she couldn’t fathom how there used to be a time that she wouldn’t have been able to marry the beautiful girl next to her that she was lucky enough to now call her wife.
They took the elevator up to their hotel room, walking down the hallway still hand in hand as Twilight unlocked their door and they dragged their stuff inside.
“Okay, checklist!” Twilight pulled out her phone, setting her suitcase down on the floor. Sunset raised an eyebrow at her but didn’t comment, getting used to the fact that Twilight seemed to have a checklist for every situation.
“Sunset, go turn your phone camera on in the bathroom with the lights out and look for hidden cameras. I’m going to check for bed bugs.” Sunset nodded, setting her bag down next to Twilight’s and going into the bathroom.
She actually hadn’t been surprised when Twilight had told her she had been diagnosed with OCD in middle school. Twilight had so many of the symptoms, a lot of things started to make sense. The way she always locked her locker twice in high school, how she hit her toothbrush on the sink exactly four times to get the water off of it after brushing her teeth. The lists and organization, it all started to fall together. Twilight had described it as suffocating. On top of the trauma she suffered from the Friendship Games incident, Twilight constantly had intrusive thoughts telling her that if she didn’t do something like brush her hair for exactly fifty strokes that her family would die.
It had taken years for twilight to finally trust Sunset enough to help her with her checklist each night. She had a routine that she followed, making sure the door was locked, the stove was off, toilet lid was closed, closet doors were shut, even making sure the fridge was still plugged in, that after living together for almost three years she could finally let Sunset do parts of that checklist for her, just to take some of the stress off.
This was no different, and as Sunset flicked out the bathroom lights and scanned headphones camera all over the room, listening to the sounds of Twilight removing all the blankets from the bed and the covers from the pillows and lifting the mattress to check for bugs, Sunset was thankful that they had these routines. In some way, it made her feel closer to Twilight.
“All clear?” she asked as she came out of the bathroom.
“Clear. You?”
“Clear.”
“Okay, the doors locked right?”
Sunset looked behind her, making sure the deadbolt was fastened and the lock was done.
“Locked up tight.” Twilight nodded, opening the closet and giving it a once over. She opened all the drawers in the hotel room, even flipping through the bible. Sunset had once heard that sometimes people would leave money in the bibles in hotel rooms, but she doubted that was what Twilight was looking for.
She locked the balcony door twice and shut the curtains.
“What’s the thermostat at?”
Sunset looked over at it on the wall.
“65 degrees.”
“It should be 68.” was all the command Sunset needed to turn it up three notches.
Twilight looked at Sunset and smiled before throwing herself down onto the bed. Sunset came over and sat down next to her.
“One bed, huh?” Sunset teased, playing with Twilight’s hair as it fell out of her messy bun and onto the pillow.
“Oh shut it,” Twilight giggled, lightly hitting Sunset’s thigh.
“You wanna do anything tonight? Go out somewhere?” Sunset asked. Twilight looked at her like she had just suggested they go run a marathon. “Come on! We’re in New York! You begged me to bring you here!” Twilight snorted.
“I planned the trip.”
“Well I’m paying for it, so therefore I brought you here.” Sunset smiled, looking very proud of herself. Twilight laughed, rolling over and burying her face into Sunset’s lap.
“It’s too late. I’m tired,” she groaned.
“It’s eight pm,” Sunset said smugly.
“Timezones Sunset, timezones.”
“California is behind us. It’s five pm there. You of all people should know that, Twi.”
Twilight groaned again, lighting hitting her arm against Sunset’s chest.
“Less talking, more napping. We can go do something tomorrow.”
Sunset giggled.
“Oh alright, but you need to change first.” She gently patted Twilight’s head.
Twilight groaned yet again, mumbling a quiet “Fine” as she rolled out of bed and dragged herself over to her suitcase. She came back in pajamas, curling up on the bed next to Sunset. Sunset reached over to turn out the light as she pulled up the covers and slid in next to her wife.
“Night. I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you too. Goodnight,” Twilight whispered back.
The following days were full of hustle and bustle as they explored New York City. They saw art galleries, they fed ducks in Central Park, they visited the Empire State Building, and took a ferry ride out to see the Statue of Liberty. They went sightseeing and visited too many shops, coming back with bags of stuff they would have to ship home.
On their last day there, Sunset surprised Twilight with tickets to see Hamilton on broadway.
“Hey Twily, I got you something.” Sunset held an envelope behind her back. They were in their hotel room and Twilight was sitting on the bed, tying her shoes. Twilight looked up.
“Really? I thought we were just buying souvenirs for our friends. Oh shit, I didn’t get you anything!” Twilight jumped up off the bed, a frantic look in her eye. Sunset laughed, grabbing her upper arm with one hand and slowly easing her back down.
“No, I bought this a long time ago. It’s a thank you for planning this trip. Here.” she held the envelope out to Twilight. She took it, carefully tearing into it and pulling out the two tickets inside.
She flipped one over, eyes scanning it and reading every word.
Her jaw dropped, and the next thing Sunset knew Twilight was hugging her like there was no tomorrow, envelope and tickets abandoned on the bed.
“Oh my God, you are the best wife ever!!! I love you so much! Thank you thank you thank you!!! How did you get tickets to a sold-out show?!” Sunset was then peppered with kisses from her wife. She didn’t think she had ever seen Twilight this excited.
“You’re welcome baby. And let’s just say I pulled some strings.” Sunset winked at and Twilight looked confused for a moment before she went back to being super excited. She grabbed the tickets and ran over them again.
“The show starts in two hours! We should go now!” Twilight had a wild smile on her face and Sunset laughed, letting her grab her purse and the tickets and drag her out of the hotel room.
To say Twilight enjoyed the musical was an understatement.
As they left the theatre, Twilight was crying and babbling on about how amazing it was. While Sunset wasn’t as big of a history nerd as Twilight was (what could she say, it wasn’t her history), she had liked the musical a lot too. It had catchy songs, she had to say, as a person who had only heard half the soundtrack once, she found herself with The Schuyler Sisters stuck in her head as they left.
The show had been at 3:00 pm, leaving them right on time to grab some dinner. They came back from The Cheesecake Factory with that least four different flavors of cheesecake to go.
“This was the best week ever,” Twilight gushed as she sat on the bed next to Sunset, working on a s’mores cheesecake.
“Why? Because you got to see Hamilton on Broadway?” Sunset joked.
“Well that, but mostly because I got to spend it with you.” She leaned over, resting her head on Sunset’s shoulder. Sunset responded by setting her red velvet cheesecake in her lap and using her free hand to wrap Twilight in a side hug.
“Just imagine how I feel, getting to spend every single day with a girl who’s ten times amazing than I could ever be.” She tangled her hand into Twilight’s ponytail, stroking her hair gently.
“You spoil me,” Twilight whispered.
“And I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Sunset moved slightly so that she could press a kiss to Twilight’s lips, pulling away with a touch of whipped cream on her bottom lip. Twilight laughed,
“Let me help you with that,” she said, pulling Sunset back in for another kiss.

I hope I did an okay job with my portrayal of Twilight's OCD! I asked a friend who has it and he said that it was good and accurate, so that's what I went with.

“I’m making a TV show,” Sunset blurted out one night as Twilight crawled into bed.
“You’re what?!” The bespectacled girl asked, looking at her confused.
“Princess Twilight has been writing up journals of all her adventures with her friends. I wanna make them into a children’s TV show.” Sunset looked over at the identical journals that had been accumulating on their bookshelf.
“So that’s what those are.” Twilight hummed.
“What do you think?” Sunset looked at her wife. Spike jumped up onto the bed with them, settling down in between the two.
“I think it’s a decent idea. Talking horses going on friendship adventures is certainly a premise nobody would ever guess is based on reality.” Twilight giggled to herself.
“Sounds like something Flurry Heart would watch,” Spike said. Sunset nodded.
“That’s what I was going for.” Sunset nodded. “I started on some concept art but can’t really land on a style.” Sunset reached for a nearby sketchbook on the nightstand. Twilight leaned over, resting her head on Sunset’s shoulder to get a better look.
“I like that one,” she said, pointing at a large-eyed sketch of just a pony’s head. “It’s simple. That’s what kids like.”
“Yeah. I was thinking that too.” Sunset nodded before starting to yawn. She closed the notebook, setting it back on the bedside table. “Can we talk about it more in the morning?”
“Yeah. Ready for bed?” Twilight asked.
“Yeah. You?” Sunset looked down at Twilight, who hadn’t moved from her spot on Sunset’s shoulder.
“Uh-huh.” She slid her glasses off her face and handed them to Sunset, who set them on the table on top of her book. She reached over and flicked out the light, getting settled into the pillows before Twilight moved to lay on her chest.
“I love you Sunny,” she said in the dark of the room. The only sound was Spike's snoring as he was already fast asleep.
“I love you too, Twily.”
It had been three months since they had that conversation. A lot had happened over the summer. Sunset had seemingly been working non-stop on this show. She had come up with the title: My Little Pony and now had at least four different sketchbooks and journals filled with notes and drawings as she went along the process of creating a script for a pilot episode based on Princess Twilight’s retelling of her move to Ponyville and the defeat of Nightmare Moon.
Twilight also had her own thing going on. One she was both extremely excited and a nervous wreck about telling Sunset.
“You’re acting weird.” Sunset observed one night when Twilight crept into their bedroom. It was after midnight she had spent so long in her lab working on her secret project. She had assumed Sunset was asleep as the room was pitch black.
“Ah!” Twilight jumped as she dropped her bag to the ground. Suddenly the light flicked on and Sunset looked at her with a raised eyebrow from the bed. “Uhh…” Twilight looked down at the ground as she crossed the room to change into a pair of sleep shorts and a t-shirt.
“Come on, talk to me. It’s obviously eating you up inside.” Sunset crossed her arms over her chest, pushing her hair back behind her shoulder.
“I want to have a baby.” Twilight rushed out. She didn’t even realize she had said it until she saw Sunset’s eyes go wide.
Sunset was quiet for a few moments.
“And I think I know how we could do it! I’m developing a new method for two girls to biologically create a baby! I have been for a while now, actually…” Twilight bit her lip, looking at the ground again.
“I dunno Twi. I guess I just never really ever saw myself as a person who would want kids.” Sunset couldn’t look at Twilight as she said it but sensed her visibly deflate from the corner.
“It doesn’t have to be now… I’m still working on the logistics behind it all. I’m close, but I don’t know how close…” Twilight shuffled over to the bed and climbed in next to Sunset. Sunset pulled her into her side.
“Tell you what, if you can get this method to work, we’ll do it. I think I could put up with a kid if it’s what makes you happy.” Twilight beamed, looking up at her.
“Oh, you’re the best Sunny!” Twilight wrapped her arms around her wife, hugging her so tight it rivaled that of Pinkie’s hugs.
Twilight looked at Sunset and could tell she still wasn’t very happy about the situation, despite her smile.
“Hey, I know you don’t like kids. It’s surprising considering you have a little brother and all, but it’s whatever. What if I asked Cadence and Shining if we could babysit the kids? Maybe that’ll help you warm up to the idea.” Sunset bit her lip.
“Okay, sure. We’ll babysit Flurry and Star.”
“And if you still don’t want one after that, we don’t have to have one. I don’t even really know if this will work anyway.” Twilight looked off at the wall.
“Hey, I know you’ll get it to work. You never stop, even when it gets hard. Just think of how many people you could make so happy with this. How are you doing it anyway?” Sunset cocked her head to the side.
“Bone marrow transfers! It’s not my idea and most of the research is already there but the tech is lacking. I’m trying to figure out how to make it work and have the pregnancy be both viable and successful.” She looked back to Sunset, finding her with the dorkiest smile on her face.
“Sometimes I forget just how brilliant you are.” She slowly leaned forward, kissing Twilight gently.
“I couldn’t do it without you.” Twilight smiled.
“Ugh, turn the lights out and go to bed. It’s sickening how sweet you are sometimes,” Spike spoke from his spot at the foot of the bed. Both girls laughed before getting back under the covers. Sunset reached over and turned out the light.
“G’night Twi.”
“Night Sunny.”

So here are some big reveals!! We're getting meta bitches. Sunny's putting those writing and art skills to good use and Twilight is as much of a mad scientist as ever.
“So we’re really doing this?” Sunset asked as she climbed out of the passenger side of Twilight’s car. Twilight nodded.
“It’ll be good for us, if we decide we really do want to have kids.” Twilight smiled at Sunset and Sunset gave a weary smile back. “Besides, it’s just Flurry and Star.”
Sunset nodded and reached out for Twilight’s hand. The other girl took it as they walked up to the front door. Twilight raised a fist to know three times before stepping back to wait.
Cadence answered after a few moments.
“Sunset, Twilight! So good to see you, come in,” she greeted, opening the door from the pair and letting them step inside. They could hear squealing coming from upstairs.
“Uh, what is that?” Sunset asked, gesturing towards the noise.
“Flurry. Shining said she couldn’t have ice cream until after dinner.” Cadence sighed. Twilight giggled.
“Oh, the problems of a seven-year-old.” Sunset cracked a smile at that.
Shining Armor appeared at the top of the staircase, holding an eight-month-old Star Dreams. He was dragging a kicking and screaming Flurry Heart behind him. His face read: done with this whole “dad” thing.
“Flurry Heart!” Cadence scolded. Flurry stomped her foot. Cadence kneeled down in front of her daughter. “Flurry. You can have ice cream after dinner. Tell you what, if you stop crying right now and behave for Auntie Twilight and Aunt Sunset, you can have two scoops.” At that, Flurry stopped.
“Two whole scoops?” She asked.
“Yes. Two whole scoops, but you have to behave.” Flurry nodded, wiping her eyes.
Cadence stood up and moved to Star from Shining, passing her to Twilight.
“Flurry needs to be to bed by seven, Star’s bedtime is six. Dinner’s in the fridge, make sure both of them bathe and I doubt she’ll let you forget about the ice cream. We’ll be back around ten.” Cadence told her. Twilight and Sunset nodded.
“Got it. Have a good night!” Sunset called as Shining and Cadence slipped out the door.
When they turned back around, Flurry had already run off.
“Where did she go?” Sunset asked.
“Uh…” Twilight looked around for the hyperactive seven-year-old.
Then they heard a crash come from upstairs.
“How did she get up there so fast?!” Sunset exclaimed as they raced up to find the source of the noise.
They found Flurry Heart in the hall bathroom standing on a stool with her name on it, trying to reach the top cabinet. She appeared to be surrounded by yarn that had fallen out of a box she had knocked down.
Twilight readjusted Star in her arms as she looked at the mess.
“Oops?” Flurry asked, looking down at the yarn that laid across the floor.
“What were you even trying to do?” Sunset asked, bending down to pick up a pink ball of yarn.
Flurry just pointed up at the cabinet. Sunset moved to look inside, finding it full of various craft kits.
“I wanted to make something with you,” Flurry said, looking up at her aunt. Sunset was shocked for a moment, turning to find that Twilight wasn’t in the doorway anymore.
“Okay, we’ll make something, but we gotta clean this up first.” Sunset glanced at the clock. It was almost 5 and they would probably need to feed the kids soon, but she resigned to let Twilight take care of that.
Together the two cleaned up all the yarn, rolling it back up and placing it back in the bucket. When they were done, Flurry pointed up at a box on the top shelf.
“That one!” She said. Sunset reached up to grab it and smiled, seeing that it was a friendship bracelet making kit. “Let’s go to my room!” Flurry took it from her, racing out of the bathroom. Sunset laughed, following her out as she flicked off the light.
Flurry led her to a little white table in the center of her room, setting the box down and gesturing for her to sit in the chair across from her. Sunset took her seat as Flurry opened the box and pulled out the tools.
She and Flurry sat at the table making bracelets for almost a half-hour before Twilight came up to the open door, knocking on it lightly.
“Hey you two, dinner’s ready,” she said, a smile on her face.
“Yeah one sec,” Sunset mumbled as she tied off the bracelet she was working on. Flurry hopped up from the table, running up to Twilight.
“Auntie! Look at what Aunt Sunny made me!” she exclaimed, holding up the yellow and purple bracelet. Twilight smiled at her.
“Yeah, great, now come on, dinner’s gonna get cold,” she said, gently pushing Flurry out of the room. When she turned back around, Sunset was standing behind her.
“Sunny? Where in the world did she get that?” Twilight asked.
Sunset gave her a mysterious look. “I guess we’ll never know,” she said before pushing past her and descending the stairs.
Cadence had prepped tacos for dinner and soon they were all seated around the table. Star was eating a variety of soft, cube-shaped fruits that Sunset was sure all tasted the exact same. Flurry Heart was excitedly talking about something that had happened at school that week and Twilight was listening intently.
Sunset smiled as she looked at the three of them. Maybe a part of her did want this. She looked down at the bracelet on her wrist that Flurry had made her.
Yeah, she definitely wanted this.
Author's Note
If you didn't know, Star Dreams was a brushable figure released in a set with Applejack in 2012. Here's what Star looks like as a pony, you can imagine the human version:
“Ugh. Sunset! Could you stop leaving your paintbrushes all over the house?!” Twilight asked from the kitchen.
“Sorry! I forgot those were in there!” Sunset called back, coming in to grab them from the kitchen counter next to where Twilight was washing dishes.
Twilight sighed.
“Sunny, as much as I love this little condo, we just don’t have enough space for both of us to work anymore. I mean, now that MLP is getting so big and you’re working on the second season and my work and my research is taking up more and more space.” She looked to Sunset hoping that she was catching on what she was saying.
“Yeah, I get that too. Everything is just everywhere no matter how organized we try to keep it.” Sunset looked around the kitchen. There were papers stacked seemingly miles high on the table and the organized mess that was all the drawers was an annoyance.
“Maybe… we should look for a new place,” Twilight said timidly. Sunset looked to the floor.
“But we’ve had so many great memories here. All of it, since we left Canterlot, has been here.” Twilight set down the dishes she was drying, coming over to her wife. She carefully wrapped her into a hug.
“Leaving here doesn’t erase the memories, Sunny. We still have all of them to cherish forever, but this just isn’t functional for us anymore. Especially if we want to have a family someday.”
Sunset leaned into the hug. Twilight threaded a hand into her hair as Sunset held the paintbrushes tight in her grip and close to her chest.
“I guess you’re right,” Sunset mumbled.
Twilight giggled. “I usually am. Bioethics and biomedical engineering degrees.” Sunset snorted.
“Yeah, okay, I get it, you’re a genius.” She pulled away from the hug. Both girls laughed as the mood was lightened.
“I’ll start looking for a place tonight. What do you think, four bedrooms, three bathrooms?”
Sunset nodded. “Somewhere around there.”
“I’ll try and watch the money, but it’s LA.”
“Yeah, can’t avoid those million-dollar homes,” Sunset giggled. “Keep it on the cheaper side. We don’t need a mansion, just something bigger, but money shouldn’t be an issue.”
Twilight nodded and went back to finish drying the dishes while Sunset put away her paintbrushes.
That night, Sunset and Twilight browsed Zillow for what felt like hours, trying to find something they were happy with.
“I want it to have a pool,” Sunset said.
“A pool would be nice,” Twilight agreed.
They surfed the site for what felt like hours, each house they found either being too big or too small.
“21 bathrooms?! Who needs 21 bathrooms?!” Sunset exclaimed looking at a house.
“People with more pools than bedrooms?” Twilight guessed, laughing.
The two turned in for the night after finding nothing, reserving to look the next day.
Twilight contacted a realtor the following Monday so that they could find exactly what they wanted. A move-in ready home with at least four bedrooms and three bathrooms, plenty of space to entertain, and a pool.
That Friday, they were going to tour houses.
The first one was nice, but the kitchen was a little cramped and the fourth bedroom was tiny.
“Do you think this could work as a linen closet?” Twilight asked, joking. Sunset and the realtor both laughed.
“Possibly,” Sunset mused.
When they walked into the second house, Sunset was in love.
“It’s so… white,” Twilight said. It very much was. The floors and walls were all a ridiculously bright white.
“We can paint the walls, silly,” Sunset said. Twilight shrugged, walking into the house with her.
It was a really beautiful place. There was a fireplace in the main living rooms, the bathrooms were all fancy and huge, and the backyard was amazing for entertaining.
“What’s this listed at?” Sunset asked as they walked into the kitchen.
“Two million,” the realtor said.
Sunset looked to Twilight with puppy dog eyes. Twilight smiled.
“Can we put in an offer for it?”
Two weeks later and they had the house. Now they just had to pack their entire condo up and move it out. Piece of cake.
Sunset was crying after thirty minutes.
“Why are you laying on the floor crying, Sunny? You’re supposed to be packing.” Twilight asked, kneeling down next to her.
“I’m gonna miss this place. I don’t wanna leave!” Sunset laid her head in Twilight’s lap.
“I know you are, Sunny. So am I, but this is for the best. Think about the new house and how much you’ll love it. Think about all the new memories we’ll make there.” Twilight stroked her hair. Sunset sniffled.
Twilight looked up around the room, and then to the boxes laid out around the room from where Sunset had been trying to pack.
“I guess we don’t have much of a choice, we already bought the house.” She let out a watery laugh.
“Come on, let’s pack up.” Twilight carefully stood up and held out a hand to Sunset. Sunset took it and together the girls packed their bedroom up and dragged all the boxes out to the U-Haul they had rented.
It took them three days to pack everything, sorting through everything they owned and throwing out the trash while packing everything they wanted to take with them.
After it was all packed away and being taken to their new house, Sunset and Twilight did one final walk through the condo before handing away the keys.
“So much happened here,” Sunset said as they stood in the living room.
“We’ve lived here for almost six years,” Twilight whispered.
“I’m gonna miss it, but I think that the new house will be better for us. More space to work, a place to start our family.” Sunset wrapped an arm around Twilight’s shoulders. Twilight leaned into her.
“Speaking of family, we’re going into the testing phase for my method next month,” Twilight said.
“Really?! That’s great!” Sunset beamed. Twilight took one sweeping look around the condo.
“Ready to get out of here? I’ll tell you all about it on the drive to the new place.”
Sunset nodded.
“Yeah. Let’s do this.”
The two women walked out of the condo they had called home since they were barely 20, locking the door behind them and dropping off the keys with their landlord. They climbed into Sunset’s car, starting the drive to the new place they would continue to love each other in.

Next Week on Love Story:
The Story Of You and Me.
Coming 11/16/2020
The Outline and A Goodbye
Well guys, after careful consideration, here it is, the outline of the last chapters and the playlist for the story.
In parentheses are the chapter titles.
11: Three years later Twilight finally perfects her method for two girls to have a baby. Sunset and Twilight have a talk. (The Story of You and Me)
12: Sunset gets pregnant and Twilight starts to worry. (It’s All Gonna Be Alright)
Interlude III: Pregnancy things, i.e weird cravings, cuddles, etc.
13: Skyla is born and Pinkie throws a party to welcome the new family home from the hospital. (Meeting a Princess)
14: Twilight and Sunset take Skyla to Equestria so she can meet her Grandparents and Uncle. (I Swear To Celestia We Are Not Having a Crystaling)
15: Skyla’s first birthday; Twilight and Sunset reflect on everything that’s happened in the 11 years they’ve been together. (The Magic of Love Grows).
If you were wondering, yes, Skyla was based on a toy released in 2013, probably as a very early prototype for Flurry Heart. She was part of the So Soft line, which contains many characters never seen in the show. As you can tell, I'm very creative when it comes to creating characters (no I'm not, that was sarcasm.)
A little background on each chapter if you're confused:
11: yeah, this is an actual thing that is being worked on right now and we're making great advancements towards it. I'm super excited about it, as a lesbian who doesn't want kids.
14: Skyla is an alicorn because Sunset is an alicorn, as this is connected to Fading Sun. Works in the same way Flurry's genes do.
I did in fact create a playlist for this story on Spotify. Here it is: Love Story Soundtrack
I was really excited about this story, and I'm sorry it couldn't be finished. I simply moved onto new projects and new things. This will probably be my last post on this site unless I need to rant about some stupid bullshit in the future. It's been fun, and I'd love to see some of you try and complete this story. If you do, PM me so I can read it, I check my account regularly (i.e, fourteen thousand times a day because I see validity from strangers on the internet for serotonin).
As always, if you wanna keep up with me, I'm active on Instagram (@lucyk011 and @powerponycustoms ) and ao3 (NoirAngel011 and SuperMax18 (that's my smut account).
I hope you all enjoyed this story. In terms of numbers, it kinda flopped, but doesn't all my stuff these days? But I had fun with it, so I guess that's what matters. To think that I had a sequel planned for this too. That one will definitely never see the light of day! If you were wondering, it was just a compilation of snapshots of Skyla growing up.

In A Magical Land Called Equestria
“Come on, Sunny! You’ve got this!” Twilight sat in the driver’s seat of Sunset’s car, dropping her off at work. Today was her big day, the day she would finally be pitching her TV shows to the executives she worked for at Hasbro.
“I dunno, maybe I should just throw it all out and forget about it,” Sunset said nervously, thumbing through her notebook.
“Sunset! You’ve worked way too hard on this to throw it out now! You’re gonna go in there, show them what you’ve done, and they’re gonna love it!” Twilight smiled at Sunset in earnest, and slowly Sunset started to smile too. “Repeat after me. I can do this”
“Twilight can do this?” Sunset repeated, confused.
“No! You can do this. Sunset can do this.” Twilight took Sunset’s hands into her own.
“I- I can do this,” Sunset said. Twilight smiled, nodding.
“Yes, you can. You’re gonna kill it, babe. You’ve worked so hard on this, I believe in you.”
Sunset took a moment to breathe before picking back up her notebook.
“Okay, I’m gonna do this.” Twilight leaned forward and lightly kissed Sunset’s cheek.
Sunset climbed out of the car, giving a final wave to Twilight before she headed into the office building. She took the stairs up to the meeting rooms two at a time, ready to get this over with.
She had to wait in the hallway outside the conference room before she was called in. She made sure that all her papers were in the right order and her outfit was straight. She couldn't have a single hair out of place. This might as well be the most important meeting of her life.
When a man finally opened the door and she was called in, Sunset was forced to silence her nerves and walk with steady steps.
She stood before a group of seven of her employers and Hasbro higher-ups.
“Hello, my name is Sunset Shimmer, and I have a proposition for you today.” And with that, her meeting began. As it went on, Sunset became more confident, displaying all of her ideas and putting her best foot forward. She was proud of her work. She knew that it was good. She just hoped that the board of people before her agreed,
As she closed her presentation, the murmurs began. At the table, the group discussed in hushed voices what they had seen. At times, someone would ask her a question and Sunset would do her best to answer it adequately. Finally, they all turned back to her.
“We think what you have created here is very creative, Mrs. Shimmer.” A man spoke. Then a woman piped up.
“We also believe that this could be very popular among children.”
Sunset felt her eyes light up. She had to remember to keep her emotions off her face. She couldn't be too hopeful yet.
“We’ll give you a contract to produce one season of your show. If it does well, then we can consider another one.” A third man said. Sunset broke out in a huge smile.
“Thank you!” She realized how childish she sounded, but didn’t care. This had been her dream since high school, and here she was, days away from signing a contract to launch it into action.
Sunset left the office with a spring in her step. She raced outside to call her wife.
She leaned against the wall of the building, waiting for Twilight to pick up. When she finally did, Sunset was greeted with screaming.
“Did you get it?!” she exclaimed, Sunset nodded before remembering that twilight couldn’t see her.
“I did! They’re giving me a season to see how it does!!”
Both girls squealed on opposite ends of the line, bouncing up and down.
“I’m bringing home cake and we’re gonna make drinks and celebrate,” Twilight said. Sunset giggled.
“Sounds great.”
Twilight laughed. “I should probably get back to work. Congrats, Sunny.”
“Okay. And Twilight?”
“Yeah?”
“Thanks for believing in me. I couldn’t have done this without you.”
Twilight smiled to herself as she leaned against her desk on her elbow, talking into the phone like a schoolgirl.
“Always.”
