In the furturistic universe of Halo, the Human-Covenant war is over but, some of the Covenant are still fighting the UNSC and the newly formed Alliance on different worlds, including on the Halo Rings. After a battle, A Spartan gets charges against helping the enemy Covenant instead of killing them. The Spartan gets assigned to an insane parole officer to show him how to be a "better" Spartan. Unknowly, the parole officer had his own plans with the Spartan to go on a recon mission which was really an assination mission against aliens who weren't even part of the Covenant and the Spartan gets stuck in the middle of a new war that he unknownly help started.
