Chapter 1: A Loud Day.

A black, emptiness, surrounded the king. His eyes shot about, franticly, walking about, trying to find an exit.

“ Hello? Anyling here? Pharynx? “ He called. He kept walking in the darkness, feeling like it was just a room of infinite space. He’d panic more and more, the longer he was in the darkness for. His elytra opened up, and his wings buzzed, lifting him off the ground. He flew about, still calling out. He felt his voice getting muffled, like something was covering it. He, then, started feeling..awfully weak. He fell back to the ground, weakened. He tried standing up, but only fell back down.

He glanced around the room, and his eyes widened when he saw a tall, thin mare. He only assumed they were a mare, by their long hair. He gathered up some strength, stumbling to his hooves, and calling out to them.

“ Excuse me? Excuse me! “ He called again. He started walking toward her, wobbling about. When he made it to the mare, he reached out to her. He tapped her shoulder, making her turn to him. He’d gasp, recognizing the face the mare had. She had green eyes, that were glaring into his soul. She had a evil, sinister grin. She turned fully, and her legs were full of holes. Her horn was crooked and bent. He knew, the mare-well-Changeling-was Chrysalis. He felt his vision getting blurry, backing up.

“ ..Ch..Chrysalis...? “ He’d mumble. He backed up a few more inches, before the former queen leaped at him.

He awoken from the dream. His face was pale, and sweaty. He held a hoof to his chest, taking fast breaths. He sat up, looking around, examining his area. After a few minutes, he knew he was home, in the hive. He sighed and laid back down.

“ ...What a dream, huh.. “ He mumbled. He closed his eyes again, trying to drift back to sleep—before feeling a pain in his head, and chest. He groaned, putting his hooves to his head and chest. He glanced about, and rolled to his side. He let out a tired sigh, and closed his eyes again, ignoring the pain. It seemed unbearable, however. It took him about 2 hours for him to actually fall asleep.

He just wanted a good day for once!

Thorax’s eyes opened, slowly. Looking about, sighing. He sat up, and rubbed his eyes. He paused for a moment, and groaned. He felt the same exact pain he felt last night, the same sharp, pulsing pain in his head and chest. He felt like he was having a migraine, and some type of heart attack that he wasn’t dying from.

He just shook it off, and got up, for his normal day. Well..not too normal.

“ Thorax? Your majesty, a scroll was sent from a friend of yours, your majesty. “ A Changeling said to him. He sighed, grabbing it with his magic, floating it toward him. The Changeling bowed, and left politely. Thorax would open the scroll, and start reading it.

Dear, Thorax,
I wanted to invite you to a royal party in Canterlot. I thought it wasn’t very necessary, because of your royal duties, but Spike kind of begged me to, so I had no choice. Not just that, but I want you to come back to Canterlot, because the only time you were there, was in the ‘ old days ‘. Now, I hope you can except.

Your friend, Twilight Sparkle.

“ ...Canterlot... “ He mumbled to himself. He felt his hearing blur, and his head started banging. He groaned in extreme pain, holding his head. He stumbled back, and shook his head, regaining consciousness. He walked back toward the scroll he dropped, and thought for a moment. Before he made his mind.

He was gonna go.

He left his sleeping chambers, and flinched at the bright sun for the moment. He got used to it in about 1.5 seconds. He walked about, trying to wake himself up. He’d try shaking his head a bit, hitting his head with his hoof. Nothing really worked, but it only made his headache more painful. Sounds blurred out again, and he felt weak. He felt like he was about to-

“ Thorax! “ A voice yelled. He regained himself, and turned around. It was Pharynx, trotting toward him. He didn’t seem very happy, then again, he was almost never happy.

“ What in the name of hive’s mother is this?! A party?! “ He held up the scroll, and shoved it in his face. Thorax sighed, and moved it.

“ Yes, Yes, a party, and I’m going. I don’t care WHAT you say, I’m going. “ He grumbled, walking away from his older brother. This only made Pharynx angrier, following Thorax.

“ You can’t just LEAVE! You do that wayyyy too much now! I know you’re tired, and stressed, but that doesn’t mean- “

“ How about you just shut up. And we’ll see how THAT turns out. “ Thorax hissed, still walking. That was it. Pharynx was having his YOUNGER brother, talk CRAP to him?! Not today.

“ Look, I don’t know where this... ‘ attitude ‘, came from, but I’m the older brother! And just because you’re king, doesn’t mean you can talk to ME that way! So, cut it out, and— “

“ Well how about YOU BEING BETRAYED BY YOUR OWN KIND! HUH?! HOW’S THAT FOR A ATTITUDE?! “ Thorax screamed, making a sort of Canterlot-ish voice. Pharynx just stood there, shocked. HOW could his brother just YELL at him, like HE’S the baby! HE WAS NOT A BABY! But..he noticed something with his brother’s eyes at that moment. They had a light-like turquoise sclera, and green eyes, a lime green at the bottom of the iris, and the dark green-blue at the top. Thorax covered his mouth, immediately. He cleared his throat, before saying this.

“ I’m sorry. Just tired. “ He opened his elytra, and flew off into the sky. Pharynx was still stuck in his place, out of shock. After a few seconds, he just walked off, still shocked. After Thorax flew off, he almost burst into tears. He didn’t mean to yell at Pharynx like that. He made himself look like Chrysalis. He shook his head, and kept flying.

He stood at Canterlot Castle, his eyes widened. All he had was past invasion memories. He shook his head, and stood straight. The entrance most likely guarded, so this was gonna be hard. He walked toward the entrance, and stood there. The guards looked up at him, and looked to eachother. One of the looked at the paper that he was holding with magic.

“ Name? “

“ King Thorax. “ He said, bluntly. He looked back, and nodded. The guards moved out of the way, and he walked through. He let out a sigh, tired. Maybe I can find something in there that will energize me... He thought. When he walked through the door, he almost fell over. Everyone were ponies, and wearing suits, and were in couples! Ponies. Suits. Couples. He didn’t know about this!

He stood there, frozen in place, in fear and panic. Pharynx was right. He didn’t know what about, but he was right. He took a deep breath, and walked through the crowd. He thought his was a ROYAL party, not a FREE-FOR-ALL party! He slithered through the crowd. The ponies started staring at him, and he just decided to take the air. He opened his elytra, and flew up. He looked about, and looked toward a cluster of tables, where other ponies ate some food. He flew over there, and just stayed there for the while.

“ ..Where’s that..purple..nerd alicorn, who has too many chairs.. “ He mumbled. He was confused, since he forgot her name for a moment. He groaned, covering his face. He just laid on the ground, sighing. All noise blurred out again, and all he heard was one voice.

Thorax~...Thorax~... He held his head, remembering that voice. He flailed a bit.

“ Thorax! “ He regained himself for the 4th to 5th time now. He looked up, to see Twilight. He rolled over, and leaped up on his hooves.

“ Twilight! I-I was wondering where you were! “ He stuttered. Twilight tilted her head a bit, confused. She ignored it, and sat down on the ground, patting the ground in front of her. He sat down too.

“ ..Why are we sitting in the ground? “

“ Well, most of the tables are full. But, that’s fine! I see you came. Spike’s going to be very happy! “ She smiled. Thorax, oddly, forgot his name for a moment. He tilted his head, and said out-loud.

“ Who? “

“ ...Spike. The small dragon who was the one who gave you the friends you wanted? “ She said. Thorax’s eyes widened, smiling awkwardly.

“ Oh! Right! Sorry! I’m just..so..so tired.. “

“ Ah..I see.. so..how’s the hive been going? “

“ Good! I just..I don’t know, but..I, all of the sudden, screamed at Pharynx... “ He told. Her ears perked up at that.

“ Screamed? “ She asked. Thorax looked around, and sighed. This was going to be a very, very, very, personal thing to explain. Well-to him at least.

“ Well..I starting to head off to this party, and Pharynx found out, and said that I go out too often. Then, I..I kinda told him to shut up.. “ He bit his bottom lip, nervously. Twilight was listening in, focused. She seemed very interested.

“ So, that just mare him more mad, and I started getting an attitude, and..and that’s when I screamed at him. It felt..odd...because I don’t normally scream so loud..and..and it sounded less like me, and more like...like.. “ He moved his hoof in a circular motion, nervously.

“ ..Chrysalis? You were probably just really tired... “ She said, awkwardly. Thorax started shaking at the thought. Him, being pictured as Chrysalis, could just give him a panic attack.

And..that’s exactly what happened. He started having..a panic attack.

“ Thorax?! “ Twilight noticed, how Thorax was shaking, and hyperventilating. All noise was blurred, and his vision was blurred too. All he could hear was that one voice.

Don’t be such a drama queen, Thorax! You know that...no matter what..you’re a ruler, and superior in every. Single. Way. You know that you can make them respect you! Fear you! You just haven’t given it a chance.

“ No. no. No. No. No. no. No, no. No. No. No. no. No. “ Thorax mumbled, repeatedly. Twilight got more and more worried, and scared. She tried to calm him down, but he was too stuck right now. She, then, tried shaking him. His wings, all of the sudden, shot out of his elytra, and he shot up into the sky.

“ DON’T. TOUCH ME, FOUL PRINCESS!! “He screamed, giving out that Canterlot like echo again. It shook the entire room, everypony cowered in fear. Twilight was standing there, shocked, terrified. His antlers and horns, were glowing and sparking green. A green aura surrounded him, a ghost like figure of Chrysalis as the aura. The figure was smiling, evilly, while Thorax had more of a angered expression.

“ ...T-Thorax... “ Twilight tried calling out. The aura slowly started fading, as he looked around. He could’ve sworn, he was seeing a swarm of renegade Changeling’s around him. They all were spread out around the Castle’s room. He looked down at his hooves, to see them dark gray, and full of holes. He gasped, before the aura fully faded. He looked down at all of the ponies below him. Filled with fear.

He just flew off, in a rush. He heard Twilight’s voice, but her words were blurred.What just happened?! What’s wrong with me?!. He kept flying, until he reached a room, were he can be alone. He huffed, turning around, looking beyond the room he was in now. He just crumbled to the ground, and just started to cry.

He wasn’t gonna be leaving that room any time soon...

Chapter 2: Voice.

“ Thorax? “ Twilight whispered. She found the room he was in, but he cried himself to sleep before he actually got to him. She had a worried expression, wondering what happened in the main room. Rainbow Dash tried stopping here from finding him, but she ignored her. She sat down, next to him, silently, watching the before overly stressed Changeling rest peacefully. She didn’t wanna ruin it for him. She sighed, before looking down at the ground, the floor shiny and reflective. What was he thinking? Why did he freak out like that?? Why did he call me, “ Foul Princess “ ??? She had so many questions, but no answers. She, then, looked at the ceiling. She swore to Celestia, that if ANYTHING went wrong at the party, she’d fix it, and that’s what she was gonna do. She was gonna try and fix this issue. But..didn’t know how-

“ ..Twilight?.. “ Thorax mumbled. She looked down at the woken king. He blinked a moment, before glancing at the ground, still laying down.

“ ..What happened?.. “ He mumbled again, sitting himself up. She sat for a moment, before speaking.

“ Well...you kinda had a freak out in the main room, and scared the flanks off us. “ She said. Thorax’s eyes widened a bit, remembering. He started glancing around, franticly. Twilight noticed this, and starting wondering how bad this could actually get. She put her hoof on his front leg. His eyes shot to her, watery and shiny. He’d rub his eyes, trying to have that not noticed, but she already noticed before anything. He was about to have a long apology session, but Twilight spoke before him.

“ It’s ok. “ Thorax blinked, nervously. He knew she was being sincere, but he still felt awful. She smiled, and leaned on his side. He blushed a bright orange, looking away, awkwardly. They, then, heard a scream. Twilight’s ears perked up, as she looked at Thorax.

“ ...We should go check, Huh? “

“ Yep. “ They jumped up, and headed back to the main room. When they reached their destination, the room was a MESS! There was food, and cake, and candles, and lights everywhere! Almost everypony was gone, except for Twilight’s friends, Cadence, Luna, Celestia, and Spike. They both looked around the room, shocked.

“ ..W-What happened?.. “ Thorax asked. Rainbow Dash glared at the king, making him sink down. Celestia, was the first to speak.

“ Well..you see..after you had that...outburst, we all were trying to talk to the ponies, then..this happened.. “ She moved her hoof around the room. Thorax understood, although panicking on the inside. He didn’t mean to ruin anything, for anyone! This just made him feel more bad, in which he almost started crying.

“ ..I-I should go.. “ Thorax said, walking away, quickly. Twilight tried to follow him.

“ Thorax-Wait- “

“ No, Twilight. I caused enough trouble.. “ He kept walking away. Twilight tried to stop him over, and over again. The others tried to stop her from trying to stop him! But, she just wanted to help the stressed king.

“ Thorax, just listen- “

“ No! I don’t need to be here anymore! “

“ But- “

“ Just stop! Ok?! “ He started flying away. Twilight almost gave up, before grabbing him with magic. He stopped in mid-air, a magenta aura around him. Thorax just froze in place. She dragged him back toward her.

“ Twilight! Put me down! “ He demanded, but she wouldn’t. He’d try and struggle free, but nothing would work. Twilight stared at him, with a determined expression. She’d keep him in place.

“ ..Twilight..let me go.. “ He demanded, but in a threatening tone. Twilight shook her head, and kept him in place. She watched as he struggled to get free of her magic grasp. Her expression went from determined, to slight fear. Her aura, started turning green. It was odd, because this never happened to her before.

“ ..Just..let..me..GO! “ The aura was completely green, and he broke free. Twilight was pushed back, a force of the magic hitting her. She shook her head, and looked through the dust, trying to see Thorax.

But he was already gone..

Thorax just flew off, as fast as he could. He didn’t even try looking back, because he would just feel worse! He didn’t even know what happened back there! He’d be heading back to the hive, wanting to go and apologize to Pharynx, although the outburst that happened there happened hours ago. He just hope that—

Watch out!

He stopped, looking around. He just thought he was hearing things, before something hit him in the head. He started falling to the ground, unable to control his wings right now. He screeched, as he crashed to the ground. He created a hole in the ground, of impact level. He reached for the surface of the ground, and out of the hole. He crawled out, groaning. He rubbed his head, before standing up. He, then, heard that voice again.

You IDIOT! I TOLD you to watch out! You should’ve LISTENED TO ME! He finally figured out that he wasn’t just hearing things. He decided to reply.

“ Well, I didn’t know something would hit me! Besides, I didn’t know if I was just hearing things or not! “ He defended. He heard the pesky voice just groan, before going silent. He flew back up into the air-well-tried. He fell back down, instantly. He stood back up, and tried again. And again. And again. And again. And-you get the point. After who knows how long, he gave up.

You’re wing is damaged.

“ ..Wow..thanks.. “ He said, sarcastically. He stood up, before sitting back down. He scraped at the ground.

...You know, you can just heal your wing, right?

“ Uh-NO! I DIDN’T know that! “ He yelled. His voice echoed, as he sunk down, hoping no one heard that. Although, he was in the middle of nowhere, you can’t be too loud. He sighed, and sat straight up again.

“ ..So how do I heal myself? “

Ok, just focus on your magic, and if it turns yellow, your healing....wait-WHY AM I TELLING YOU?! Ugh...

“ Just shush, and let me heal myself. “

...Fine. Thorax smiled, proudly. He closed his eyes, and tried to attempt healing magic. He started to tense up, as his magic glowed. It started to change yellow, before it sparked red. He gasped, as he stopped and let out a ragged sigh. He looked to his wing, it looked worse than before! He decided to try again. When it started to change color, it would spark red each time. After 5 tries, his wing was almost completely torn. It honestly hurt.

“ I-It’s not..working.. “

Well, try being more calm! And stop getting all tense! .....And I told you again-AGHH-

“ Ugh, stop SCREAMING! “ He yelled, but it was in his head. No one, but the voice could hear. He groaned, his head aching like crazy. He was gonna try one, last, try, and if it didn’t work, he was gonna give up until tomorrow. He started to get in the process, this time, keeping his calm. His magic finally glowed yellow, and the aura surrounded the wing that was about to fall off. It morphed back into place, finally being healed fully. He huffed, finally accomplishing it. He rubbed his eyes, as his magic faded.

Well...you did it. We can go ‘ home ‘ now.

“ ..Ok.. “ He flew up into the sky, fully again. He was on-alert this time, just in-case something we’re to happen again. After a few hours, it was dark. He finally made it to the hive.

“ Thorax! You’re back! That’s...woah..bro, you ok? “ Pharynx asked. Thorax was tired, and stressed. He just wanted to sleep, but he wasn’t going to until he apologized.

“ ..No, not really. Party turned out to be a disaster. Not because it was boring or anything, but Inhad another outburst and drove everypony away... “

“ Ohhh..yeah, you might be a bit more stressed then I thought.. “

“ ..Actually, speaking of. I’m sorry for having an outburst toward you. I was just...tired. “ Thorax apologized. His eyes were watery, and had bags under them. His magenta-purple eyes had a hint of red, but it could barely be seen. It took Pharynx a while before replying.

“ ..It’s fine. I got over it. “ He said, sincerely. Thorax smiled, tiredly.

“ Now, you go and sleep. “ He pushes Thorax to his sleeping chambers. Thorax immediately laid down, and sighed in relief.

“ ..Night, bro.. “ Pharynx said, before leaving. Thorax mumbled goodnight, but it wasn’t heard. His eyes slowly closed, before he heard,

Goodnight~

His eyes opened up again, before sighing, smiling weakly.

“ ..Goodnight.. “

Chapter 3: Days Never Get Better.

As soon as Thorax woke up, after what happened at the party, he knew that something was bound to go wrong. Either way, he had to get up. But, he just decided to lay there for a few more moments, before actually getting up. He saw that everyling was already up and about, so why not he?

“ Morning, Thorax. “ Pharynx said, having his normal, straight-face expression.

“ Morning. “ He smiled, but kind of weakly. He still thought about the disaster he caused at the party, and really couldn’t stop thinking about it. He just walked away-well-tried. Pharynx was following him, and he didn’t know why. He didn’t mind it, before it felt like he was following him to ask something. He stopped walking for a moment.

“ Pharynx- “

“ You feeling ok? “ He asked. Called it. Thorax thought. He just looked away, not wanting to talk about it, and just walked away.

“ Thorax.. “ Pharynx’s eyes squinted, suspiciously. He kept trying to ask, but nothing. Thorax either walked away, or tried to change the subject. After prying at him for minutes, Thorax was just giving up. If he didn’t answer, this wouldn’t stop. He took a breath, and was about to explain, but he was interrupted.

“ Your majesty, you have a letter. “ He turned to one of his subjects. He grabbed it with magic.

“ How in Equestria do these things get here, anyways...? “ He mumbled, opening the letter. It read,

Dear, Thorax,

I need some help. I cannot explain right now, but I really need help! Come back to Canterlot, quickly!

Your friend, Twilight Sparkle

“ Help? Wait-why is the paper so..torn.. “ He mumbled. He looked to Pharynx, and back at the note for a moment.

“ ...I think this might be...a bit serious.. “

“ No duh. “ Pharynx rolled his solid lavender eyes. Thorax lifted into the air, and looked at Pharynx.

“ I’ll be back! “ He said, before flying off. Pharynx watched as his young brother flew off to who-knows-where, either getting hurt, or worse. He was close to following him, but he needed to look after the hive. So, he stayed.

Thorax was glancing around in the sky, having a mental panic. He wondered if anything crazy was happening! What if Chrysalis attacked them?! He wouldn’t be ready to confront her again! What if-

Oh, don’t worry..Chrysalis won’t be attacking anytime soon... He sighed, as he honestly, actually hated hearing that voice. It was so...rude, and quite loud. Her voice had a strange echo to it, and it definitely was a female. It almost sounded like...Chrysalis...

He shook his head, there was no way! He lost his current train of thought, when he heard a scream. It sounded exactly like Twilight, so he was definitely close. He was along the edges of Canterlot, so all he had to do was fly towards the actual Canterlot center.

“ Twilight?! Twilight, where are you?! “ He called, only to get no response. She had be here, she HAD to! He landed, and started wandering about. It might’ve been dangerous, but he didn’t know. He caught a glance of a pony running. He thought, maybe they knew where Twilight was. He tried following them, but they already ran off, but he kept catching glances.

“ Hello? Is anyone here? “ He called out. No response. Then, he heard another scream. He turned, and followed where the noise came from. It sounded like it was coming from the west. Why is there a pony screaming? He didn’t know, he just got this today, and it sounded like a big deal!

He was around a corner, as he heard a menacing hiss. He stopped, thinking there was a snake around. He peeked around the corner, and almost yelled out, “ WHAT THE- “

He saw a young mare, with fear in her eyes, crying. In front of her, was a group of monstrosities all the way from tartarus itself. They were all some type of hybrid of a pony, and a changeling, stained with blood and tears. He could swear that one had intestines wrapped around it. He put a hoof to his mouth, feeling like he was about to puke, but he almost gagged quietly.

Thorax, if you puke, I swear to Celestia-

He pressed his back against the wall, still feeling that sickened feeling in his throat. He swallowed the feeling down, and sighed. He looked back, and some of the hybrids were looking in his general direction. It was only a matter of time before they found him, but they only turned back around. He let out a sigh of relief, and his antlers glowed. He was gonna take a risk, and fight for once.

He came out of his hiding place, and shot a beam of magic at some of the hybrids. They all looked to him, and growled. They all slowly came toward him, and that’s when he knew, that he screwed up. He backed away, as they got closer. He took a step forward, and shot a beam at them again. That’s when they all charged at Thorax, but he kept shooting at them.

“ Sweet mother of the hive, there’s so many of them! “ He said out-loud, still shooting. One of them, managed to leap on him, hissing at his face. He pushed them off, and flew into the air, shooting from above. But, what he didn’t realize, that as ponies had different types of groups, these creatures did too. The unicorn-hybrids started shooting at him, dark red beams coming toward him. He dodged almost all of them, some beams hitting his legs.

“ Oh geez. “ The Pegasus-hybrids flew toward him, very fast, and tried pushing him to the ground. He resisted the force of these creatures, but it wasn’t enough, as the unicorn-hybrids shot at his legs again, weakening him, more and more, before he completely fell to the ground. Not even his wings could keep him up, as his elytra was getting shot at too, some beams piercing through it.

“ Oh no... “ He mumbled, as the creatures came closer. He tried to get up, but the Pegasus-hybrids kept him down, about 20 of them had too. He shot at the Pegasi-hybrids, forcing them off of him, giving him the ability to get up again. He kept shooting at them, the beams getting more strong each time. He noticed, all of the unicorn-hybrids getting into a large group, as all of the others went down. As they all got shot down, the last of the unicorns tried to make a final attack.

Their horns glowed dark red, Thorax’s antlers and horn glowed a dark greenish-blue. They both shot at the same time, the beams colliding. The unicorn’s used all of their strength, competing Thorax’s strength, as they started to win. His eyes widened in fear.

“ No. No! “ He said out-loud, as he shut his eyes tightly, his head started hurting again. His eyes opened again, as they looked like Chrysalis’s. His magic turned green, taking a step forward. The green beams started over-powering the dark red beams. The last thing he heard, was the creature’s scream, before there was a explosion noise. He backed up, as guts and blood spread across the area.

At this point, he really was about to puke. But, he did his best not to, although he was gagging like crazy. He shook his head, his eyes back to normal, as he looked to the mare. She had fear in her eyes, frozen in place. Thorax started walking toward her.

“ ..Are you ok? “ He asked. The mare recoiled away from Thorax. She had a long, pink-like mane and tail, with a pastel pink coat. Her eyes were colored orange, and her cutie mark was a neon pink diamond.

“ You’re scared of me, huh?.. “ He said, knowingly. All she could do was nod. He sighed, and held out his hoof.

“ ..I won’t hurt you, ok? I’m Thorax, leader of the Changeling’s. “ He smiled, softly. Not threatening at all! She hesitated, before putting her hoof on his.

“ ..I-I’m Lucy Diamond.. “ She stuttered. He nodded, feeling her nervousness.

“ Were you with a group? “ She nodded.

“ Y-Yeah, but they all escaped, as I got captured. We were all with Twilight Sparkle, but she’s trying to find me. “ She explained. He perked up, when he knew Twilight was out here. He was about to say something, but he heard loud hissing. He turned, and saw another hoard of hybrids, coming their way.

“ Run. “ He said, as they both ran off. The hybrids ran after them, but Thorax kept trying to shoot at them. He was flying above Lucy Diamond, trying to protect her. As they were running, they stopped, as another hoard was in front of them. They were trapped. So cliche.

“ W-What do we do?! “ She asked, trembling. Thorax looked about, having a mental panic, but he got himself together, and grabbed Lucy Diamond. He flew off into the sky, quickly. He felt Lucy climb on his back, gripping on to him.

“ T-Thorax, you have holes in your wings! How are you still flying?! “

“ Well, I had holes in my wings before, I can’t fly if my wing is really torn, or wet. “ He said. She nodded, and looked behind them. They Pegasus-hybrids we’re flying behind them.

“ T-They’re right behind us!!! “ She screamed. Thorax took a dive down, out of panic. He wanted to try and get the hybrids lost. But, it was pretty hard, as he was too colorful for them to actually loose him. He started panicking, when he heard magic blasts behind him. He looked behind, as the pegasi were shot down. He looked to his right, and saw Twilight Sparkle.

“ Twilight! “ He smiled at her. She smiled back, as she flew toward Ponyville, and he followed.

Once they were on the ground, Lucy Diamond ran to her friends. They had a group hug, and had a very happy moment. But, it was interrupted, as they saw Thorax. They all pointed to him, shocked. All he saw, was Lucy nod, and walk up to him.

“ Thank you, Thorax! You saved my life! “ She smiled, in relief.

“ Oh! Wow-uh—t-thank you! “ He stuttered, blushing a bit. She smiled, and walked back to her friends. He looked to Twilight, nervously.

“ W-Well..I-I should go, now...b-bye! “ He waved, before flying off. Twilight didn’t even get to say anything, which made her a bit worried. But, she smiled and waved back.

As he made it back to the Hive, he felt light-headed. It was almost nighttime, as well. He looked about, and started heading to his sleeping chambers, but he froze. He didn’t know why, but he just did. His vision and hearing blurred and all he saw, was an blurred figure of Pharynx. He felt his limbs go numb, and he just....

Chapter 4: Vines.

When Thorax woke up, he was in bed. He didn’t really know where he was actually, just assuming he was just in bed. As his vision got a bit better, he knew he was in bed this time. His head hurt like heck though. He sat up, looking around and about. He was supposed to get up, but his head hurt to much. He glanced to the exit of his sleeping chambers. He sighed, and struggled to his hooves. He felt dizzy, and light-headed, and couldn’t walk straight. Once he reached to exit, the light hurt his eyes for a moment, before it settled. He looked around, ignoring any signs of pain in him.

“ Thorax! “ Pharynx called. He looked to see his older-but shorter-brother, come toward him. It seemed like he was gonna say something, but he honestly didn’t want to hear it right now. Pharynx stopped, noticing Thorax’s expression. It was tired, and sullen.

“ ..Thorax? You feeling ok? “ He asked. Thorax only turned away, out of shun. Pharynx scowled.

“ Hey. I’m talking to you! “ He said, waving a leg in front of his younger-but taller-brother’s face. He heard Thorax hiss softly, and pushed it away. Pharynx was honestly, getting concerned. He tried to get his attention again, and his only responses were hissing and pushing his hoof away. Soon, he walked away. He was completely shunning Pharynx. His older brother just stood back, still a bit concerned. He wanted to follow him, but...he was honestly...kind of getting scared of him. He never shuns some creature, unless...

No. No, he couldn’t actually hate someone...right?

He’s just...too nice for that. Right? Pharynx just kept thinking he was just tired. Soon, he’ll be his normal old self again, and things will be fine. Yeah, everything will be just fine! Right? Right. Thorax looked over at Pharynx, confused why he was just standing there. His eyes squinted, and he continued to walk. Pharynx decided to just..check one more time. Just in-case! He started following Thorax again.

“ Bro, you- “

“ Oh, WILL YOU STOP?! “ He turned, yelling. Pharynx stepped back.

“ Woah, woah, woah! Bro, chill! “

“ Chill? CHILL?! HOW IN QUEEN’S NAME AM I SUPPOSED TO CHILL WHEN I’M BEING ASKED THE SAME QUESTION OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER, AND WHOEVER IS ASKING ME WON’T SHUT THEIR DAMN TRAP!!! “ He snapped. Pharynx just walked backward, as Thorax kept walking toward him, yelling like crazy.

“ Thorax, chill! I’m just asking if you were ok, ok?! “

“ SINCE WHEN DID YOU CARE, HUH?! HUH?! WHEN?!”

“ Thorax- “

“ What?! WHAT?! “ He hissed. Pharynx pointed behind the very, very inraged king. He turned and gasped. A long, dark green, hole-filled vine was behind him. It seemed like it came out of the ground, but none of them knew how, or why it was there. It was just..there.

“ ..Thorax- “

“ What... “ He growled. Pharynx flinched a bit, hearing that kind of tone out of his own brother. Also, considering, he just never heard this kind of tone from him at all. It had a strange echo behind it too. His eyes were different too...

“ Thorax, listen- “

“ Why? Why should I listen to YOU? “ He questioned. The vine grew longer, and kind of threatening, honestly. Pharynx scooted to the side a bit, Thorax’s green, reptile like eyes, following his movements. At this point, he didn’t know what to do. His own bro, the one who became king by showing kindness and love, was giving Pharynx the cold shoulder.

“ ...That’s what I thought.. “ He hissed, before walking away. The vine sunk back into the ground, like it was never even there. He just watched as the king walked off, and that’s when one Changeling seemed to cower in sight of him. It was odd, and just wrong. Pharynx’s thought of him being just tired, was completely erased from his head. There was no way there was just a simple answer to this.

He’d have to figure it out himself.

“ Where are we going? “ He blinked, realizing he was in the sky. His eyes were back to normal, as well.

We’re going to your so-called, “ Friends “.. The voice grumbled. Thorax kind of smiled, he kinda wanted to see Spike, but..he didn’t how he would react to him being around again. Would Spike hate him, like everypony else at the moment?

First, stop worrying, you’re going to give me a headache. Second, relax.

“ ..Can you...hear my thoughts? “

Yes?

“ ..I didn’t know that.. “ He rolled his eyes, continuing to fly to Ponyville. Well-he thought he was. He’d normally see Canterlot from somewhere if he was heading to Ponyville, but he didn’t see it anywhere! He was a little anxious about this now.

“ ..A-Are we going the right way? “

Yes. He had high-doubts at this point. He looked up to see the sky was dark. The clouds were dark gray, and there wasn’t any light around. He thought about landing, but they were in the middle of nowhere by now. After a few moments, he felt something wrap around his hoof. He looked down, to see a chain-like rope just...floating? He tilted his head, confused. How could this thing just...defy gravity? He suddenly felt a pull, like something tugging on it from below.

“ What the- “ He said, before getting pulled to the ground. He screeched the way down, freaked out. Is someone trying to capture me?! He thought. He collided with the ground, head-first. He was surprised he didn’t get a concussion, or brain damage. It was like his body just getting oddly stronger each day.

“ ..Ahh..wha.. “ His vision was blurry for a moment, before looking up. He saw what seemed to be a stallion, but they had a curved horn. They had a dark-pastel-purple coat, and a deep black mane and tail. They were pretty skinny, but not too skinny. They had deep purple eyes too. Around him were those crazy pony-changeling hybrids! Thorax immediately got up, and backed up into a tree.

“ W-What are those?! “ He asked, freaked out. The purple stallion looked to the creatures, and spoke.

“ These? These are just my creations... “ He said, calmly. Thorax’s eyes just stared at this stallion. His antlers and horns started to glow, ready to blast at any creature.

“ ..YOU made these?! Why?! “

“ Why do you need to know? “ The stallion asked. Thorax took a step forward, looking at the mangled contorted things in front of him. The Changeling-half of them were definitely of the Reformed. They were the only Changeling’s that were really around at this point.

“ Those ‘ creations ‘ are MY SUBJECTS! “

“ They are? Oh, my apologies, sir.. “

“ Thorax. “ He sneered. He was in disgust, in how some..pony could possibly do this to a different species! The stallion only seemed to smirk.

“ Do you realize how much PAIN they must’ve went through during this?! “

“ Oh no, of course not, Thorax! They’re just fine now, right? “ The stallion turned to one of the creatures. They didn’t make a noise, but it seemed like he “ knew “. He was actually a unicorn, so he grabbed a bucket with magic, and took out some flesh. He fed it to the creature, it swallowing it without chewing. Thorax covered his mouth, gagging a bit. The stallion looked over to him, still smirking. Thorax huffed for a second.

“ Who..are you.. “

“ Onyx Star. I was wondering what was caught on my rope. I was thinking it was just some of YOUR useless drones. “ He used his horn, as it glowed dark purple, as the un-tied part of the rope floated into the air, he casted a gravitational spell, most likely.

“ My drones, are NOT useless. “ He hissed. Onyx rolled his eyes, frowning. That’s when he started walking toward Thorax, examining him. He hissed softly, uncomfortable, and still disgusted.

“ My, my. You have quite the structure, and strength. Maybe, you could possibly be one of my creations, if you’re eager~ “ He teased. Thorax let out a small gasp, before growling.

“ NEVER! “ He yelled, a vine growing from the ground. It would be the same that Pharynx saw at the Hive. It would be next to Thorax, as a weapon. Onyx stepped back a bit, scowling. Thorax would fly up into the air, more vines growing around him. Onyx looked to the creatures, and pointed to the king.

“ Get him. “ He said. The hybrids turned to Thorax, and growled at him. The earth pony-hybrids ran at him, trying to leap on top of him. The vines around him would grab them, squishing them to death, as they exploded into blood and guts. Thorax took this chance to escape. He flew away, the vines disappearing into the ground.

“ FOLLOW HIM!! “ Onyx yelled, and the whole crowd of hybrids ran after him. Onyx also followed. Thorax kept flying, no looking back, or else he’ll slow down. Vines would grow behind him, and would squish the hybrids to death, crushing them, resulting in them exploding into a very gore-y sight. Thorax wasn’t really paying attention, because the unicorns, including Onyx, shot at his wings, putting too many holes in them. He fell to the ground, but got up as fast as possible.

“ No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! “ He’d mumble, out of panic. They were still following him, the vines still squishing them. Thorax looked about, trying to find a escape, but then, there were vines right in front of him. It looked like they were making a staircase for him, as he ran up all of them. He saw the vines disappear behind him, so he just kept running, before he tripped. He shut his eyes, thinking that he was gonna fall, but..he didn’t? He opened his eyes again, to see that the vines were holding him up perfectly! He smiled, getting up, and turning to the group. He gave them a wink, and kept running. He heard the Pegasus-hybrids flying behind him, and tried running faster.

“ Go, go, go! “ He told himself, out-loud. He then saw a random portal in front of him. Confused, he stopped. It didn’t look bad, like Onyx did it. It was...weird. He was thinking for a bit too long, because the Pegasus-hybrids leaped on him, and they went through the portal. Onyx saw the portal, and found a chance to catch up.

They warped to Ponyville, the Pegasus-hybrids holding Thorax down. He struggled to get up, as they were pretty strong. He shot at all of them, the hybrids falling off of him, allowing him to get up. He looked at his wings, as they were damaged heavily. He felt something hit his head, and he fell to the ground. He moaned in pain, as he looked up to see Onyx Star. He had an evil smirk on his face. He had a chain in his magic grasp, and clamped the chain-like leash around Thorax’s neck. He pulled at the chain, bringing the Changeling’s head closer to him. Thorax gasped, wincing.

“ Hehehehe.. “ Onyx giggled. The hybrids surrounded him, making sure he didn’t escape. Thorax would try and struggle away. Onyx would then hit Thorax’s head at the ground, bruising him. Thorax moaned in pain again, rubbing his head, only to be pulled to Onyx again. The stallion just kept smiling, insane.

“ ..You’ll pay for this.. “ Thorax huffed.

“ Oh, really? “ He questioned, throwing Thorax to the ground.

“ ..I-I’ll make you pay..for this.. “ Thorax growled. Onyx rolled his eyes and stomped on Thorax’s chest. He gasped, wincing again.

“ How? What will YOU do? “ He questioned. Thorax’s eyes glistened green for a moment. Thorax smiled, sinisterly. His antlers would glow green, and green, glowing, translucent, long vine would wrap around Onyx neck. Vines would wrap around the collar of the leash, and glowed green, ripping the collar in half. His hole-filled wings, morphed back together, glistening a dark pastel blue. His eyes would change, into the type of eyes Chrysalis has. His chitin turning into a dark lime green, his carapace darkening a bit, as well as his antlers. This odd glowing aura would shine around his head, and tail. When the glowing stopped, a dark pastel turquoise mane and tail appear. His elytra fades to a pastel-like-nicotine color, with a pastel light blue “ V “ across it. His horn, longer, and filled with holes and bent about.

Thorax wasn’t in control anymore.

“ This. “ She smiled. The ground would rumble, and a giant vine would grow out of the ground. Onyx, and the creatures watched in fear. The vine cracked, and rumbled, and it scooped up the creatures, all in one go. It threw them all into the air, all of the hybrids screaming. Onyx couldn’t say anything. He scowled at the Changeling.

“ You..You.. “ He wheezed.

“ QUIET. “ She demanded. The vine tightened around his neck, choking him. She opens her elytra, and her translucent, pastel blue wings flew toward him. She gave him a creepy smile, before biting into Onyx’s neck. He screamed in pain, as her fangs dug into his coat. She let go of him, dropping him to the ground, his neck bleeding.

“ I would run, if I were you.. “ She said, looking at her hoof, sassily. Onyx didn’t say anything, only running off into a portal. She’d walk toward his blood, that dripped onto the ground. She looked down at it, and forced a giggle. She’d hold her head, and would lose control over Thorax’s body. The next thing he did, was collapse, passing out.

Chapter 5: Two Souls

“ Oh! You’re awake! “ Twilight said, smiling. Thorax looked at her, confused.

“ ..Twilight? W..Where am I?.. “ He asked, glancing around. He rolled onto his side, wanting Twilight to answer his question.

“ Well...you kind of shot some random pony into the air, and those creatures as well. So, that happened... “

“ Ah, I see.. “ He looked to the ground, rubbing his head. His head felt heavy, and he felt like he couldn’t move. He just sat there, in lots and lots of pain. His limbs were numb as well, so that’s adds up. As soon as he got home..

He’d lay in bed. All day.

“ Do you need anything? “ She asked, worryingly. Thorax looked over to her, tiredness in his eyes.

“ ..N-No, I’m ok.. “

“ Ok...well, Spike will be here to keep you company, ok? “ She smiled, trying to ease the awkwardness. Thorax’s antler’s sparked a bit, the color green. Twilight backed away for a moment. The Changeling shut his eyes for a second.

“ S-Sorry! Sorry... “ He apologized, for that small magic burst. Twilight nodded, smiling. They heard the doors open, and Spike walked in. He didn’t seem nervous at all, he only looked kind of worried. Thorax waved, weakly. Spike only waved back.

“ Well, Uhm...I have to go. Rarity needs me for something. Spike, please make sure Thorax feels comfortable, ok? Bye.. “ She said, and flew off. The doors closed, and there was silence for a moment, Thorax’s stomach churning. Spike walked over to Thorax, and tried to climb on the bed he was on. Thorax just watched, awkwardly. He saw that Spike had wings, so he could just fly on the bed.

“ ..Spike. You have wings... “ He said, plainly. Spike looked behind him, and saw he had wings. He, then, used his wings to actually get on the bed. There was silence, once again. Thorax didn’t really want to say anything, and Spike didn’t know what to say. He saw what happened hours ago, and how Thorax transformed into that..other Changeling. He wanted to ask about it, but he didn’t Thorax wanted to even talk about it. He had been getting more and more secretive, although it had only been a couple days. But, what might’ve been a bit worse, is the news Twilight was supposed to tell him! It looked like Spike had to try and tell the king himself.

“ Thorax. I have something to tell you. “ Spike spoke. He saw Thorax wince, before glancing away.

“ ..Y-Yeah? “ He mumbled. Spike took a deep breath, and spoke.

“ You have 2 souls. “

“ Spike, I’ve said a thousand times, not ALL Changelings—Wait-What? “ Thorax said, confused. Spike almost asked what Thorax was going to say, but he continued.

“ Twilight...kind of scanned you, with a certain spell she found, I guess, and it turns out you have 2 souls. “ Spike said, nervously. He looked away, not wanting to see Thorax’s reaction. Thorax, on the other hoof, was shocked. He looked to his left, and saw a translucent, green figure of Chrysalis. He looked down, and one of his chest-gems were glowing green, and the middle one was. He put his hoof to his chest, and curled up.

“ ... “

“ Thorax? “ Spike looked to the Changeling, who was merely coughing. Spike’s eyes widened, shocked.

“ Thorax! Buddy, calm down!.. “ Spike said, worried. The leader only kept coughing, and wheezing. It was clear he couldn’t breathe. He leaned his head off of the bed, trying to get out of it. He slithered to the ground, his head hitting the solid ground. Thorax got up, wobbling. He took a few steps, before he fell back down, still coughing. Spike flew off the bed, coming toward him. The next thing he knew, there was dark green liquid bleeding out of Thorax’s gems on his chest. He heard gagging, and immense hyperventilating, coming from the distressed king. Spike was frozen in place. He didn’t know what to do! His friend was on the ground, probably dying, and he was just..stuck in place. Spike heard the sound of liquid dripping on the ground. But, it wasn’t just the leaking of Thorax’s gems, but it sounded more of a thick liquid. Thorax, was puking out..something. It looked like his own blood, and some...light blue liquid.

“ T-Thora- “ Spike stuttered. He noticed vines wrapping around Thorax’s legs, carapace, one on his antler’s, and around his neck. It looked like they were about to either suffocate him, or crush him. Spike ran to him, and tried pulling off the vines.

“ S-Spike-Stop- “ Thorax wheezed. He puked up more liquids, before trying to get Spike’s claws off of the vines. But, they wouldn’t budge. He was too weak at the moment.

“ Thorax, these things! They’re- “

“ Spike-please- “ Thorax stuttered. His antlers glowed light blue, and ripped Spike’s claws off of the vines. The vines would tighten around Thorax’s body.

“ Thorax, they’re gonna- “ Spike grabbed onto one of the vines, but by the bottom. The vines tightened more, the vine around his neck tightening worse. Thorax’s face slowly went pale, looking at his neck. He put his hooves around it, trying to calm it down. He held his breath at the moment. He didn’t know what to do at the moment.

“ Thorax, stay calm! I’ll- “ Spike was about to leave and get something to help, but he saw Thorax just stroking the vines. At the moment he was struggling to breathe, he was..surprisingly calm. The vines loosened, and Thorax finally gasped for air. He smiled softly, before petting the vine. What am I seeing.. Spike thought.

“ There you go, lil guy.. “ He said, softly. The vine acted a lot like friends, or pets. Vines normally don’t have this kind of...act. The vines slowly went back into the ground, and the leader was free from the hold.

“ ...Wow.. “ Spike said. He was honestly surprised. Thorax sighed, and looked up at Spike. He smiled, and forced a giggle. He almost passed out again, but he kept himself up. Spike walked over to him, before sitting down.

“ I..I have no words. How were you so..calm?! “ Spike asked. Thorax blinked, before bursting into laughter, leaving Spike confused. Thorax put a hoof to his forehead, still laughing, before dying it down.

“ No, no, no! I wasn’t calm! I was freaking out! “ He smiled, widely. Spike was honestly happy to see Thorax smile again. He wasn’t like this for a while, and it felt..nice. But, it wasn’t the same as before. Spike knew it.

“ But...how did- “

“ I just..did what somepony would do with a pet. Give it some comfort, so it could feel safe, and calm.. “ He glanced about. Spike nodded, wondering how he knew what ponies would do with pets. Must’ve saw one time.. He thought.

“ Yeah...now..can I get back in bed? My head hurts. “ Thorax asked, trying to stand up, but still wobbling. He stumbled to the bed, hopping on it.

“ Wait, Wait, Wait! If you can climb on it, why can’t I?! “ Spike questioned. Thorax sat on the bed, looking at him with a, “ Bruh. “ Kind of look.

“ ..You’re...kind short..Y’know? “ He said, cocking his head. Spike just blinked for a moment, before nodding.

“ Touché.. “ Thorax smirked, before rolling his eyes. He stretched out on the bed, but only a bit. He curled up, ignoring the bedsheets, and just fell asleep. Spike just smiled at the now, sleeping Changeling. Spike flew above him, giving him a small pat on the head, and left.

“ What happened. “

In the mirror, was a really dark gray colored Changeling. Their mane and tail was dark-pastel blue, long and straight down. Their eyes were that of Chrysalis’s, and her elytra was faded nicotine, with a pastel “ V “ lined with it. Their carapace was dark green. Next to them, was a translucent, turquoise figure of Thorax. He was full with shock, just as the other Changeling was.

” WHAT DID YOU DO, CHRYSALIS?!?! “ He screamed. She looked to the now spirit version of Thorax, as he was physically panicking, trying to push his hooves together, only for them to phase through eachother.

“ Hey! I didn’t do this! I don’t think- “

” DON’T THINK?! SO WHO DID?! “ He screeched, a very angry and freaked out expression slapped on his face.

“ It was probably Twilight, or something. That foul alicorn is always doing something. “ She said. Thorax just blinked. He didn’t really think it was her...but it might be. Thorax just thought for a moment, humming. The other Changeling rolled his eyes and checked herself out.

“ The hell are you doing.. “ Thorax’s eyes squinted, confused. He just stood there, as the dark colored Changeling was checking herself out.

“ What do you think I’m doing? “ the dark Changeling rolls her eyes, and walks around a bit. Chrysalis missed having an actual body to control. But..she knew it wasn’t the same as before. The turquoise figure of Thorax follows behind her. Him? They? He didn’t know at this point. He realized, that when Chrysalis was in control, she changed the height, so she was about a few inches taller than him now.

” Why am I always for short compared to you.. “ He questioned out loud.

“ I’ve always been taller than you, Thorax. Deal with it. “ She said plainly.

“ Hey. I wasn’t talking to you, Chrysalis.. ” He hissed. She stopped, turning to him.

“ Now you know, huh? “

” Yeah, I do. “ He glared, still hating the hole-legged tyrant with all of his gut. Chrysalis just smirked, and kept walking. Thorax growled, before walking the opposite direction. They both heard somepony walking. It wasn’t Chrysalis, for sure. It came from somewhere else. Out of nowhere, Twilight walked in the room they were currently in. She looked at the dark Changeling, not seeing Thorax anywhere.

“ ..Did it work? “

“ What? Wha-ohhhhh...you did this, didn’t you.. “ She sneered. Twilight glanced about, and nodded, awkwardly. The Changeling looked to her side, looking at Thorax with a “ Told you. “ look. He blinked. They didn’t know why. Or how. Chrysalis just glared at Twilight for a moment, before inhaling.

“ ...Why. Why did you think this was a good idea-at all?! “ She questioned, putting a hoof to her head.

“ I just wanted to see if you able to share bodies...it seems like it worked. “

“ Yes. It did. Now, how— “ She paused, when a turquoise blur of light passed next to her, and leaped onto Twilight. The Changeling backed away, wondering. Wait. If he’s a spirit, and he’s able to interact with things..then I could too! But, he couldn’t before...he must’ve figured out how.. She thought. But, other Thant that, Thorax was pissed.

“ WHAT THE ACTUAL F—K WERE YOU ACTUALLY THINKING?! “ He screeched. Twilight was on the ground, curled up, as the Changeling on top of her was showing almost every ounce of anger he had right now, baring teeth. They had gotten sharper, and more threatening. The Princess looked to the dark Changeling, as she had a cup of tea, just sipping it. Twilight didn’t expect much from her anyways.

” Well?! “ Thorax hissed. Twilight looked back to the angered Changeling.

“ What I was thinking, is that Chrysalis could see what things are like, but in a different way. It worked before, so— “

” Really. REALLY?! LOOK AT HER! DOES IT REALLY LOOK LIKE SHE WOULD CARE?! “ He pointed to the Changeling behind him, sipping of another cup of tea she made randomly appear. She looked at them, confused

“ What? “ She said, before sipping her teacup again. Thorax looked back to Twilight, still pointing at her.

“ Ok-I’ll admit..she isn’t too interested, but— “

” EXACTLY! “ He face-hoofed himself. Twilight just groaned. The turquoise Changeling let out one last hiss, before lifting into the air. Twilight, finally being able to get up, backed away from the Changeling.

“ Ok. You both can switch bodies, whenever you want. Just to let you know. But, Chrysalis should- “

“ Twilight. I can’t be called Chrysalis in public. The ponies will think I got freed from stone, in a different form. “ She said. Twilight paused, thinking for a second. She just nodded, like she already knew. Thorax and Chrysalis just rolled their eyes, and looked at eachother. Chrysalis perked up for a second.

“ I know! I can just call myself ‘ Ultra ‘. “ She said, giving out an idea. Thorax looked for a moment, before smiling for the first time in a while?

“ That’s a wonderful idea! “ He smiled, pretty happily. It sounded like sarcasm, but he wasn’t actually being sarcastic. Twilight blinked, in disagreement.

“ Uhm. Don’t you think you two should pick something more...creative? “ She suggested. They both turned and glared at her. Twilight sunk.

“ Ok. Ok. Do what you want! “ She said, backing away. She just trotted off, leaving the two Changeling’s next to eachother. Oddly, they both hoof-bumped, smirking. Chrysalis, or “ Ultra “, started walking off to the outside, following behind her was Thorax. They were just gonna head home.

That’s what they wanted to do anyways.

Ultra and Thorax were flying to the Hive, Ultra going the right way-well-with Thorax’s help. He didn’t want either of them getting lost, or in danger again. They heard a loud rumble nearby, and they frantically looked around. Next thing they knew, the large boulder was flying toward them. Ultra squeaked, and flew to the right, dodging it.

“ W-What was that?! “ He looked around. She turned, and a another rock hit her in the head. She went spiraling down to the ground, hitting the rocky ground. She got up, rubbing her head. Thorax flew down to help her, lifting her up. Another rock started flying toward them, but they dodged quickly.

“ I think I know where it’s coming from.. “ She pointed up to the Hive, rocks rolling down. For some reason, a yak plummeted down, got up and ran off. Thorax looked up, and blinked. Ultra heard a low and deathly growl come from the king.

“ Pharynx.. “ He flew up to the Hive quickly, Ultra following. She wondered why he got so mad? Was something happening? Was he supposed to be here for something? Then, for some reason, she felt bad for getting them attacked by Onyx Star. If it weren’t for her...

She shook her head. She didn’t have a reason to feel bad, it was an accident. She still felt..a bit bad, but not too much. Once they got up there, they were in shock. There were yaks stomping, and throwing rocks everywhere! The Changeling’s hid, and fled. Pharynx tried to keep all of them safe at once, failing. Ultra had...no words. How, and why? Was this what her Hive came to? It was a mess. No wonder Thorax is so stressed all the time. She heard another low and deadly growl from Thorax’s throat. He was absolutely pissed.

“ Chrysalis. Control. Now. “ Thorax demanded. Chrysalis looked to him.

“ But- “

“ Now. Do NOT make me repeat this again. “ Thorax hissed. Chrysalis blinked, impressed. She sighed, and smirked.

“ You’re learning so well. “ She said, giving him control again. His bright colors came back, and he stood. He took a deep breath, before lighting up his antlers. A loud beam blasted into the air, turning everyone’s attention to him. All the Changeling’s were glad he was here, but Pharynx...well..wasn’t really. At this state, disappointing him, wasn’t too light as before. Vines rose from the ground, grabbing all of the yaks, and slowly bringing them below the Hive. He watched as they walked away, angrily. All of the other Changeling’s walked away, as soon as Thorax turned back to the rest of the hive.

“ B-Bro. I-I can explain— “

“ Stop. Talking. “ He stopped Pharynx in his tracks. He felt little, to no remorse right now.

“ Next time, please cut the event until I come back. Don’t do it again. You hear me? “ He hissed, threateningly. Pharynx sighed, and nodded. Thorax walked away, glaring at him one last time. Once he got to his room, he crumbled to the floor, exhausted.

“ hhhHhhhHhhhh... “ He moaned. Chrysalis stood next to him, impressed. She sat next to him, and patted his head.

” You’re finally growing a spine. “ She giggled, and smirked. Thorax groaned, and turned away. She sighed, and laid on him. He shivered, and sighed. His eyes closed, and fell asleep. Chrysalis noticed this, and gave him some space. She got off of him, and laid next to him instead. She mumbled goodnight, and faded away, disappearing.

Chapter 7: News To The Hive.

A loud scream echoed. Thorax shot up, and looked around. He jumped up, and looked around frantically, confused and surprised. What’s going on?! Is Onyx around?! He ran outside, to see a hybrid trying to capture one of the drones. Thorax gasped, and ran toward it. His antlers glowed, shooting at the creature, causing it to fly off. The drone was free from the creature’s grasp. Thorax looked around, as there were more hybrids around, trying to snatch drones. He tried stopping all of them, and he pretty much succeeded. But, he saw one fly in a certain direction, with Ocellus in hooves. He gasped, noticing the scared, female youngling.

“ No! “ He exclaimed, flying toward it at full speed. The other drones watched in fear, as the leader went to free Ocellus. He tried shooting at it, but the hybrid dodged every single blast. Thorax flew closer, and grabbed the mangled hybrid, as it hissed, and growled. He couldn’t use vines, as he hasn’t gained the ability to make them go super high up, and it kept dodging his blasts. He pulled at the creature, with all of his might, as much as he had anyways. It was the middle of the night, very late. After a struggle, he managed to get the hybrid off of the youngling. It hissed and flew off, as well as the others. Thorax grabbed Ocellus, and flew back down into the Hive.

“ Ocellus, are you ok? “ He asked, checking for any damage. Ocellus shook her head, still shaky from that experience. All she could do, was hug the king. She teared up, utterly scared. Thorax tried to comfort her, as all of the other drones surrounded him. He looked at all of them, wondering if they had any questions. After a minute, Pharynx stepped into the crowd.

“ What happened?.. “ He asked. Thorax just looked at him, confused.

“ Weren’t you WATCHING?! A couple of intruders invaded the Hive, and almost tried to steal some of our drones, INCLUDING Ocellus! “ He pointed to the distressed Changeling. Pharynx stepped back, glancing around.

“ Where? “

“ THEY JUST LEFT!! ARE YOU BLIND RIGHT NOW?! “ He yelled. Pharynx stepped back a bit more, looking at the crowd of Changelings, all of them filled with nervousness.

“ W-Well...who do you think.. “ Pharynx asked, before a vine wrapped around his legs. He shivered. Thorax let Ocellus return to her parents, before leaning in toward Pharynx.

“ This, was an invasion that I-I can’t really explain, but next time... “ Another vine softly wrapped around Pharynx’s neck.

“ Be. More alert. “ He hissed, softly, before the vines sunk back into the ground. Thorax stepped back, lifting his head, and sighed. He flew away from the crowd, before one drone followed him.

“ Y-Your majesty! Your brother asked you a question. Who do you think did this? “ They asked. Thorax winced, before sighing. He turned to the drone, and flew down. He sat down on the ground, and motioned the crowd over to him.

“ ...There’s this..pony named Onyx Star. A male unicorn with no other to desire then to make an army out of our own. He...He kidnaps ponies and other drones..a-and.. “ He could barely speak, as the other Changeling’s listened in, getting worried. Thorax gulped, and sighed.

“ He....kills...other ponies and drones..for his own desire..to make a mangled, messed up army.. “ The Changeling’s looked to eachother, exchanging looks of fear. Thorax struggled to continue.

“ After he murders, he takes parts of them...a-and....p-puts them together, making a different creature.. “ He holds up his hooves, and pushes them together. The Changeling’s hold eachother close, not wanting any of them to be taken.

“ ..I-I also have..a question for all of you. I-I want to know...if you think you’ve seen any drones that have...r-recently went missing.. “ Thorax’s voice shook at the sentence. The Changeling’s looked around to eachother, and most of them had similar seeings. One said that they saw one get pulled to the side, and never came back. Another said that they were waiting to go to arts and crafts with them, and when they went to look for them, they only found a piece of their elytra on the ground.

They all had different views, but still the same kidnapping. Thorax felt himself shiver, and start to crumble. He sniffed, before hanging his head down. The Changeling’s looked to him, and gasped softly. They came closer to him, trying to see what’s wrong.

“ I-I just...I-I don’t..want to lose... “ Thorax muttered, shaking. The other Changeling’s looked to eachother, worryingly. One drone sat next to the king, and tried to comfort him. He sighed, shakily, and hugged the drone next to him. The drone didn’t mind, and hugged back. Ocellus, by her parents, wanted to go try and comfort Thorax too, but she was still in shock of what happened. She heard a drone coming through the crowd, holding a scroll.

“ Your majesty? I don’t mean to disturb you, but you have a letter.. “ They said, nervously. Thorax looked up, his eyes teared up. He wiped his eyes, and brought the scroll toward him. He opened it, and started reading it.

Dear Thorax,

PLEASE HELP!!

Your indangered friend, Twilight Sparkle.

Thorax felt his heart just plummet into his stomach. He stood up, and flew up into the air. The drones just watched him fly off, worried. Ocellus took a chance, and oddly, followed him. Thorax noticed, and stopped.

“ W-Where are you going? You have to stay here. “ He said, trying to keep Ocellus down in the Hive, as he kept flying. Ocellus didn’t stop, and kept following.

“ Thorax, my friends might be in danger too! “

“ But YOU were just in danger! That hybrid could’ve actually caught you, and killed you!.. “ He said, tearing up again. Ocellus went silent for a moment, before saying.

“ Please, Thorax! I want to know if my friends are ok, they’re still in Ponyville! You’re going to help your friend, right? “

“ W-Well..yes, but—you don’t know what your getting yourself into! “ He stuttered, teary eyed. If Ocellus were to come, Thorax would keep her by his side, the whole time.

“ Thorax, please...I’ll be ok.. “ She pleaded, leaving Thorax with teary eyes for a moment, small droplets of tears going down his chitin. He sighs, and holds her close.

“ ...As long if you stay around me, or any other adult, you can come. I don’t want you getting hurt.. “ He said, shakily. Ocellus smiled and hugged him. Thorax hugged back, as he went out of reality for a second, as he didn’t notice Chrysalis next to him, saying..

“ Let’s see how this goes.. “

Chapter 8: Mission: Rescue (Part 1)

Thorax held Ocellus close to him, as they flew to Ponyville, heading to Twilight’s Castle. He didn’t know what was going on, but he knew something was wrong by the letter he was sent. He stopped when he saw a crowd of hybrids, banging on Twilight’s door. Ocellus gasped, and started getting scared again. Thorax flew behind a nearby house, and peeked from behind.

“ Ocellus, stay behind me. “ He said, sternly. Ocellus opened her light red elytra, and flew behind him. He snuck around the houses, and charged his antlers for aiming. A turquoise beam shot at some of the crowd, sending them flying. He hid behind the house, grabbing Ocellus. The hybrids looked in their general direction, and started walking toward their direction. He started to hyperventilate, before sneaking around the other side of the house. Ocellus followed behind, and they ran to the entrance of Twilight’s Castle.

“ T-Twilight?! Twilight!.. “ He carefully knocked frantically. He heard hoof-steps, and the door creaked open. He peeked his eyes through the crack, as he reached his leg through. He felt a pony grab his leg, and pulled Thorax and Ocellus inside. It was pitch dark, and he couldn’t see anyone. He felt Ocellus grip on to his back leg. His antlers glowed, and 7 ponies were all around him, in creepy looking masks. He stepped back, before charging his antlers.

“ Wait, Wait, Wait! D-Don’t shoot! “ One pony waved their hoof frantically, trying to stop Thorax. The charge of energy died down, and gave them an confused look. The lights all of the sudden flashed on, and the ponies took their masks off. There, standing, was Pinkie, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Twilight were standing there. Thorax blinked, and just...stood for a moment.

“ Twilight! “ Ocellus smiled in relief, and ran and hugged her. Twilight stumbled back, but patted her back. Thorax stood for a second, before glancing around. The castle was full of—what seemed like weapons.

“ ..W-What’s going on in here? “ He said, glancing down a bit, before noticing a spider crawling up on his leg. He shook it off, and backed up.

“ What’s with the spiders? “ He looked to one of the ponies. None of them said anything, leaving Twilight, to be the only one to respond. She walked up to Thorax, nervously.

“ These things. They attacked Ponyville just this morning! I gathered up the girls, and we tried to fight them off, but they were too many! We decided to make base here, and...here we are.. “ she said, pointing around the room with her hoof. The Changeling leader wanted to yell at those darn creatures. They can mess with him, but they can’t mess with the Hive, his brother, or his friends. He still cared about all of those things, even with his anger problems now.

“ ..I-I’m sorry... “ He mumbled, rubbing his leg. “ I’m the one getting you in to this. Onyx Star is the one who sent them here, to find ponies for his...mangled..army.. “ He said, stuttering. Twilight’s ears perked up, at the name he addressed. Onyx Star.

“ I think I’ve heard that name before... “ She said. Thorax tilted his head, wondering how, where, when. Her horn glowed and she floated a book toward her. It was called, “ Unknown Ponies “. Pretty simple. She flipped through the pages, quickly, before stopping. She pointed to some text.

“ Onyx Star. He was young, before he let dark magic control him. He was an outcast from the other ponies. At adulthood, he still didn’t have his cutie mark, for some reason. No one knew why, but he finally got it, when he murdered a pony, for no reason. He liked it, and that’s when he started making an army out of different parts of creatures, including Changelings.. “ She closed the book, and looked to her friends, and then to Thorax. He was blinking, and was still in general.

“ ..So..he’s contained of dark magic, and only got his cutie mark when he killed a pony. WOW... This guy is worse than I thought.. “ He muttered, angered. He knew Onyx was bad, but not THAT bad. There was silence, before they heard a voice at the door.

“ Tsk, Tsk, Tsk...The Princess of Friendship, and the Elements of Harmony are just hiding away in this...castle. Pathetic.. “ The voice chuckled. It was obviously Onyx Star at the door. Everyone backed away, except Thorax. He started walking toward the door, and got real close to it.

“ Onyx Star. Haven’t seen you in a while. “ Thorax said, blank. He heard the pony giggle.

“ Ahh, King Thorax. I still remember when we met. We didn’t have to fight, you know. We could still make amends, be partners maybe.. “

“ Why would I EVEN TRY to be partners with YOU?! After what you’ve been doing to the Hive.. “ He hissed. He heard, yet, another evil giggle from the pony.

“ Your Hive doesn’t matter. They don’t know anything. They’re just bug-brains. Me, and my army, on the other hoof, are way smarter than those will ever be~ “ He insulted, fueling Thorax’s anger even more. He was REALLY close to opening the door, and smacking Onyx in the face. Instead, he banged on the door. He heard a few startled noise from Twilight, Ocellus, and the others.

“ They aren’t BUG-BRAINS! Just because they’re different from before, doesn’t mean- “

“ Oh, the old generation. Oh, how I missed it. Actually, it was their queen who inspired me to be this way. Chrysalis..was it? I must thank her some day. “ He smiled from behind the door. Thorax to his his left, glaring at the green outline of Chrysalis next to him. She laughed, nervously, before walking away. He turned back to the door.

“ Don’t you have dark magic in you, or something? “ He asked. He heard Onyx say, “ Mhm. “ Thorax didn’t ask much more, but he had one question. He looked to the group behind him. Elements of Laughter, Loyalty, Honesty, Kindness, Generosity, Magic, and a youngling.

“ Where’s Spike? “ He asked the group. The others tried to explain, but they didn’t say much. Ocellus looked to them, confused to.

“ Oh, the dragon? He’s right here. “ He said, as the king heard steps. Then, he heard muffled yelling, which sounded like Spike. Thorax gasped.

“ S-Spike?! “ The group hurried to the door also. They all were shocked.

“ Spikey! “ Rarity gasped, in horror.

“ Let him go! “ Rainbow yelled. Then, the doors creaked open. They, after a few seconds, flew open, and the army walked in to the castle. They all backed away in fear, but Thorax stood his stance. There, in Onyx’s magic grasp, was Spike. His screams were muffled. Onyx was only smirking.

“ Alright, you punks! You better let Spike go! “ Rainbow yelled, flying close to them. The hybrids shoved her away, hissing. Onyx just rolled his eyes, and sighed. Rainbow tried dashing at them at full speed, but the hybrids tried pounced on her, driving her away. Rainbow scowled, before she heard a low growl from Thorax.

“ Let. Spike. Go. “ He growled, stepping forward. Onyx lifted Spike into the air, letting him be able to speak again.

“ THORAX! “ He called. Onyx stepped forward as well.

“ You really want me to let go of this cute thing? No. He’ll be a good fit, for my army. Spike’s eyes filled his tears, as he heard ‘ good fit, for my army ‘, not wanting to be torn apart. Thorax’s antlers glowed turquoise, trying to grab Spike with his magic. Onyx’s horn glowed stronger, so as Thorax’s antlers. They started pulling Spike back and forth for a while, before Onyx shot at Thorax’s chest, cracking on of his chest-gems. Thorax stumbled back, gagging. Spike watched in horror, as the king started puking up black liquids. He collapsed to the ground, landing in the black liquid.

“ T-THORAX! “ Spike called, before being brought back toward Onyx. He smirked, and stroked one of the hybrids heads. He started walking away.

“ I should be places now. “ Onyx said, leaving. Twilight ran at him, tears in her eyes. He looked behind him, and slammed the doors in her face. Twilight just stared at the door for a moment, feeling upset, and angry. Just like Thorax. She sat down, and sobbed. Her friends, and Ocellus, came to comfort her. Thorax looked up at what happened, and mustered enough energy to get himself up, and walk toward her, stumbling in the process.

“ ..Twi..Twilight? I-I’m sorry, t-this is..m-my fault.. “ He called out, hesitatingly. Rainbow looked to the screwed up king.

“ Yeah, no kidding. “ Rainbow said, AJ hitting her in the leg. Twilight looked over to Thorax, and rubbed her eyes.

“ No-No..it isn’t. It’s my fault for not being prepared.. “

“ Why is it your fault? It’s my Hive, that’s his main target, so this probably has something to do with me, too! “

“ He’s also after Ponyville... “ She muttered. There was silence. Thorax hovered in the air for a moment, before opening the castle doors with his magic. Everyone watched, as the king just left, with no explanation.

“ T-Thorax? Where..Where are you going? “ Ocellus asked, nervously. Thorax turned to her, with a determined expression, like he was going to do something crazy.

“ I’m going after Spike. “

” We’re doing this? I mean..your gem...thing is cracked. “ Chrysalis asked, a bit nervous. They were in thick wood, dead wood. The Everfree was more lively than where they were, which was around the southeast of Equestria. The trees were almost just plain dead, and looked like they could easily just fall over.

“ Yes. I’m going to make it up to Twilight, for not being able to save Spike, like I was supposed to.. “ He said, tearing through all the tangled, dead branches. Chrysalis just walked next to him, phasing through the tangled mess.

“ Hey. It wasn’t your fault that he got captured. You got shot in the gem, and you’ve been coughing up black stuff all day. “ She said, rubbing her neck with one of her hooves. Thorax looked down at his chest, which was stained with black liquids, and his middle chest gem was cracked.

“ No, I’m no— “ He stopped, and started coughing. Chrysalis just watched, as black liquid shot out from his mouth. He took a minute to breathe, and looked to Chrysalis, who had her eyeslids lowered.

“ ...Ok...maybe a little.. “

” A little? “

“ ..Ok, a lot! But I’m going after Spike, ok?! “ He groaned, before continuing to walk. It took them about 30 minutes to get to these woods, and now it took them 20 more minutes to actually get to his lair. Thorax was already weakened, and still a bit dizzy from earlier. His chest ached like crazy, and everything.

“ Well, how’s your chest feeling so far? “ She asked, a bit nervously.

“ ..It hurts like hell.. “ He muttered. Chrysalis stopped for a moment, before continuing to walk. The rest of the way was silent, but after a few minutes, they got there. Thorax slowly crept into a nearby bush. It poked his body a lot, but he needed to stay hidden. Chrysalis just stood there, awkwardly.

” You can transform, you know? “ She said, but Thorax didn’t answer, and crept over to another bush. Chrysalis just...ignored it, and let it happen. He probably just wanted to be cool, or something. Frankly, she would probably do the same. Probably. This...was just a bit to far, for a Changeling leader. Thorax kept low, as he saw tons of hybrids guarding Onyx’s cabin. He shivered nervously.

“ W-What do I do now.. “ He whispered to himself, realizing he didn’t exactly make a plan. Thorax started quietly panicking. He looked around for a moment, before crawling over behind a tree. He could’ve sworn one of them saw him, crawling away. Thankfully, none of them saw. He pressed his back against the tree, tensed up. He sighed, shakily, and peeked behind the tree for a second. Thorax then took this chance to form into something small. A green flash surrounded him, and he appeared as a small, little fly. He buzzed into the air, and started heading toward Onyx’s cabin. None of them thought anything of him, but just a fly. He was relieved they didn’t think of much, and flew in through the bottom of the cabin door. He almost revealed his true form, as he looked around the gore-y scenery Onyx had. There were severed heads, legs, horns, wings, and cutie marks. They were all just pinned to the wall, like wallpaper. There were elytra’s, and transparent wings on the ground too.

“ Now, now, small dragon. No need to be so stressed~ “ Onyx said, patting Spike’s head, menacingly. Spike was chained to the wall by his neck, like a dog of some sorts. He looked beaten, which made Thorax feel worse for not saving him. Onyx just had a knife in his magic grasp.

“ Y-You won’t get away with this, Onyx! M-My friends are bound to be coming anytime soon! “ Spike yelled. Onyx just rolled his eyes, and sliced a cut on Spike’s scaly skin. It didn’t do much, but it still hurt him a bit. Spike looked around, nervously.

“ Oh, please. Those pathetic heroes aren’t coming. They’re most likely scared of me, which they should be. “ Onyx scoffed. Spike’s confidence went down at that sentence. Thorax just stuck to the wall, watching. He was waiting for Onyx to leave.

“ No..no, they’re coming for me! I know it! I-I know..one of them at least— “

“ Listen. Nobody is coming for a pathetic little dragon like you. If they were to try, those ponies would be dead. Especially the leader of the Changelings. “ He frowned, annoyed with Spike’s talking. He put his knife to Spike’s throat.

“ Then...if Twilight won’t come..then..Thorax might— “

“ That puny king wouldn’t dare! I weakened him by hitting his weak spot, which were his gems. He won’t be able to do anything to me, or my army! So, don’t you DARE mention his name in your hopes of saving! “ Onyx hissed, getting angry. Spike went silent, and stopped talking. Onyx smirked, and left the cabin. Thorax took this chance to try and quickly free Spike, with no repercussions. In a fly form, he buzzed onto the ground, next to Spike. He sat there for a moment, seeing his sullen expression honestly hurt.

“ ..You trapped too, huh? “ Spike said to the small fly. Thorax didn’t say anything. Spike just sighed, and curled up into a ball.

“ ..I hope somepony could come and save me.. “

“ Well, your in luck. “ Thorax said, in his normal form. Spike looked next to him, surprised. Thorax smiled softly, as Spike smiled and hugged the king. He patted his back, and tried to free Spike, immediately. Thorax’s antlers glowed, and started to try and rip the chain off. He never really worked with chains before, so he didn’t know what to do.

“ Thorax, pulling won’t work. Try looking for a key, or-or something! “ Spike suggested. Thorax nodded, thinking about a random horror movie he watched before with Spike. Thorax got up, and started wandering about. He gasped, and looked down, as he saw that he crushed a Changeling’s elytra. He shivered, and kept walking, but more careful. He looked around all of the drawers, cabinets, random doors. Nothing. No sign of a key anywhere! Then...

“ Well, well, well~. What do we have here? A pesky bug looking through my things! “ Onyx said, twirling the key in his magic grasp. Thorax gasped, and looked behind him, seeing the evil purple pony. He growled, yet made a small nervous noise behind it. He had been caught. A Renegade Changeling’s worst nightmare.

“ Onyx. Let Spike go. “ Thorax demanded. Onyx only laughed, and a swarm of hybrids appeared. Thorax stood his battle stance, before coughing. Black liquids shot out of his mouth. Thorax huffed, and broke a sweat.

“ Thorax, Thorax, Thorax. Don’t you see? Your weak. When your weak, you can:t do as much damage as before. So, choose. You leave... “ He grabbed Spike, and held a knife up to his neck.

“ ..or the dragon GETS IT.. “ He hissed, smiling. The hybrids giggled as well. Thorax charged his antlers, and tried shooting at Onyx, but it was blocked, and reflected. His attack, then hit him, cracking his gem even more. Thorax wheezed, and hacked. Onyx giggled. He grabbed Thorax wit his magic, and started throwing him against walls. Thorax’s antlers were getting bruised, and cut. His body was getting damaged. After a while, he threw Thorax into a wall, that was pinned up with horns. Thorax gasped, and cried in pain. He fell to the ground, his back bleeding out.

“ Hehehe! Oh, Thorax. You’ve beaten me once...but not this time! Your weakened. “ Onyx teased, and threw Spike into a creepy looking machine. A metal door closed, with a glass window. Spike started banging on it.

“ THORAX! “ Spike called out. Thorax coughed up black liquids, and got up. His legs shook, and his body bled like crazy. His entire body was in pain. The horns just stabbed into his back, which hurt a lot.

“ ..S-Spi..I..I- “ Thorax wheezed, shaking violently. Onyx pushed Thorax down easily, as the king just fell. The king was losing his vision, and sounds blurred out. All he heard, was Spike calling his name in fear. The last thing he saw, was Onyx’s smirking face, before blacking out.

The second she woke up, she was tied up. Of course. She looked around, finally being able to be awake. She had to wait for a while, and it sucked. She saw Spike, crying. His weeping made her feel...bad? She didn’t know how she felt. Chrysalis looked around, and tried biting at the ropes she was tied up in.

“ Come on...come on.. “ She hissed, her sharp fangs trying to tear the thick rope. Chrysalis finally was able to get out of those cursed ropes. She shook her head, and walked over to the machine Spike was in. She knocked on the glass, and Spike looked up, his eyes full with tears. He gasped, and backed away.

“ W-Who are you?! “ He asked, scared of the menacing Changeling. Chrysalis thought for a moment, and tried remembering her fake name.

“ ...Ultra. I’m Ultra, and I’m here to help you escape. “ She said, blankly, as she looked around the machine. She found a few buttons, that she knew did things, so...all she had to do..was press buttons, and see which one opens the door. She pressed a few buttons, and waited. She saw that...nothing happened. She tried again. Nothing. Again? Nothing. She groaned, and tried to see if there were words by the buttons. There was. She just wasn’t paying any attention. One button had ‘ Open Door ‘ on it. She hummed, and pressed it. The door let out steam, and opened. Spike took a few seconds, before stepping out. He looked to the Renegade looking Changeling, and smiled nervously.

“ ..Thanks? “

“ Don’t thank me yet! We still need to leave! Here. “ She said, before scratching a hole into one of the walls of the cabin. After a few moments, it cut a hole through, which she was also able to make bigger. She climbed through, and reached out her hoof through it to Spike, after she got out. Spike hesitated, before grabbing her hoof. He climbed out, and quickly hugged Chrysalis. She blushed, awkwardly. She patted her back real fast, before flying into the air. Spike spread his wings out, and flew next to him.

“ Ok, let’s go. Fast. “ She said, flying off quickly. Spike followed behind her. For some reason, he clinged onto her, although he should know not to hug random strangers. She blushed.

This was the only good thing she would do. Ever.

Chapter 11: Malfunction

It took a whole hour to get to Ponyville, after crashing into a river, because Trixie was being reckless again, getting stuck in vines, and falling in mud. They came back to Ponyville wet, muddy, and cut up. The ponies really just watched the trio walk to Twilight’s Castle, a mess.

“ ..In my defense, I wasn’t really looking.. “ Trixie said. All she got in response, was Starlight groaning, and Thorax’s deadly growl. After all of that, his whole body was itching like crazy. All he knew, mud and water, mixed with Changeling skin, ended up with dark green blotches on his body. The cuts didn’t help either, as they already started getting infected, and it hurt a lot. His wings were soggy, and weren’t of any use until they dried up. It was really bad for him. Trixie thinks she had it bad, and so does Starlight, but he couldn’t use his wings, his entire body itched, stung, and ached. His eyes ached like crazy, and on top of that, his head throbbed like Tartarus.

“ Thorax, stop it! You’re getting more mud on me! “ Trixie whined. Thorax’s useable eye twitched. He scooped a glob of mud off of him, grabbed Trixie, and shoved it in her mouth out of rage.

“ Uh-THORAX! THORAX, THORAX, CHILL!! “ Starlight said, trying to stop him. Before things could get worse, he stopped, slapping the glob on Trixie’s face instead, and trotted off, inraged. Starlight checked Trixie’s mouth, just in-case. Trixie’s ended up just spitting the small drops out.

“ What is WRONG with him?! “

“ He’s mad. Like I am right now. You were the one who got us into this mess. “ She said, walking off. Trixie rolled her eyes, and followed behind. Thorax just stood there, waiting. Once the two unicorns made it next to him, he burned a hole through the door, a size that they could all fit through, and he stepped in.

“ I’ll fix it. “ He said, blankly. Starlight and Trixie exchanged glances, and stepped in. The hole on the door formed back to together, after some vine just mushed itself into it.

“ See? “ He said, smirking, before walking around again. Thorax started walking down the halls, trying to find a bathroom to wash off. Starlight and Trixie followed, wanting to get washed off too. It took them a while to find it, before they finally found the bathroom. Trixie went first, the. Starlight, then Thorax. Starlight insisted that he went second, since he had the most mud, and damage, but he insisted he’d go last.

After they all washed up, Twilight and Spike noticed they were here, and gave them towels. They all winced at all of the dark green blotches on Thorax’s body. He blushed in embarrassment, and covered himself up with a really big towel, but the blotches on his face still showed.

“ You look..so gross, Thorax.. “ Trixie insulted. Thorax only glared at her, and hissed softly. Spike was sipping a cup of coffee, and kind of got uncomfortable because Thorax keep staring at him.

“ ...Sooooo, Uhh... What happened to you guys? “ Spike asked.

“ River. Vines. Mud. “ Thorax said, quickly. Spike blinked, somehow understanding that, and sipped his coffee a bit more.

“ So...who— “ Twilight didn’t even get to three words before Thorax pointed at Trixie, somehow knowing what she was gonna say. Trixie rolled her eyes, and crossed her legs. Twilight nodded, while Spike sipped his coffee more, with Thorax utterly staring at him.

“ Thorax? You ok? “ Spike asked. Thorax shook his head, and twitched.

“ Y-Yeah! Yeah! Yeah, I-I’m fine! Heheh.. “ He stuttered, his eye twitching. Spike and Twilight looked at eachother, and back at him, and to Trixie and Starlight, and back to him.

“ ...Uhm..I think you three need some rest.. “ Twilight said.

“ Yeah.. “

“ Definitely.. “

“ Y-Yeah..that sounds-NFHAHRVAKY- ” Static just burst from his mouth like a disconnected radio. They all looked to him, shocked. He covered his mouth with his two hooves, and blushed from embarrassment.

“ Thorax, buddy, you ok? “ Spike asked again.

“ Ye-Yeah! I-I-ANFGEISHLSH- ” He bursted. He covered his mouth again, recognizing Chrysalis’ voice, in an angry tone. Though, it was quite staticky, because there were others around. They all just blinked at him.

“ ..You..You think you need to be alo- “

“ ALONE! YES! ALONE! THAT-HRBRHIABFJW-NEED RIGHT NOW!! “ He heeled nervous, blurting out static again, trotting off. The other ponies just watched him hurry away.

“ ..Soo..anyone want coffee? “

He slammed the door, and locked it. He pressed his back up against it, huffing. Why was he so nervous?! Why is he full of anxiety right now?! His legs shook for some reason, and he tried to keep himself up.

“ ..C-Chrysalis...what’s...happening?!.. “ He said, clutched his chest. He huffed, shakily.

“ I-I..I don’t know! I just feel something’s wrong inside of us! “ She said, panicky. Thorax’s chest gems glowing black, and his body started aching. He started to hyperventilate, and his wind pipes would start to block up with black foam building up in his throat. He’d start coughing, and wheezing, holding his neck, panicking.

“ C-Chrys...get...T-Twi.. “ Thorax coughed, shaking violently.

“ H-How?! “ She questioned, panicking as well. Before he could say anything else, he let out a deafening screech, as his legs bent, and cracked. His eyes blackened, and started pouring black liquids out of his sockets. His mouth also dripped with black liquids. Thorax’s wings shot up into the air, crackling and falling to pieces, only to grow back all screwed up. His horn would grow, and get full with holes. His body color would fade, his elytra would be full of holes too. All of the sudden, long and thick spider like legs would tear out of his back, making him let out a louder screech, and Chrysalis watched in fear, before running through the door, going to try and get the other ponies attention.

The invisible queen ran to the kitchen, rummaging through the fridge, and cabinets, and drawers.

” Ok, ok, ok. Don’t panic, Chrysalis!..Just..find something..... “ She looked to the counter, and saw the salt shaker. She grabbed it with her magic and ran out. She skid to a stop, and hid behind a wall. Chrysalis huffed, never feeling this freaked out before. It was like she was gaining Thorax’s characteristics, and he was gaining her characteristics. She sighed, and got ready. She walked across the wall, holding up the salt. The other ponies only saw a salt shaker floating in the air.

“ ..Guys..that salt shaker is.. “ Starlight said, pointing to it. The others got up, and started walking toward it. That’s when she ran, quickly. They all followed her, as she went to the room Thorax was transforming into something crazy. Before she got there, the entire wall of that room just got smashed, and...Thorax appeared? Was it even Thorax anymore?

“ ..T-T-T-Th-Thorax?!?!.. “ Trixie stuttered, terrified. Everyone started backing away from him..or it. They only heard it’s loud, and hard breathing. They would turn to them, with black, voided eyes, that were melting like crazy. The spider legs that were coming out of his back, would lift, and crash back onto the ground, and would start speeding up. The others screamed, and ran off. They ran into the kitchen, and blocked the door. They heard them screech, and bang on the door.

“ Ok. What happened?! “ Twilight turned to Starlight and Trixie, angrily.

“ Us?! W-Why would you think- “

“ Not Trixie. YOU. Starlight, what if you put some kind of spell on him?! “ Twilight accused. Starlight would look really hurt, her heart dropping into her stomach. Starlight scowled.

“ Why are you blaming me?! I would NEVER do that to him! “ Starlight yelled, very hurt. They would hear another screech from outside of the kitchen. The creature outside would bang at the door, and walls around it. They would all back away, and grab weapons.

“ Uh..doesn’t this feel like a horror movie we’ve watched before? “ Spike compared, breaking the silence between them. The 3 looked at Spike, like “ Really? “. Twilight and Starlight would walk up to the door, and move all of the stuff out of the way. Twilight would crack the door, just a tiny bit. But, all of the sudden, the creature broke the wall open, and crawled into the kitchen. They screeched, and roared at the same time. Giant vines would try and grab them, but would be smacked away. More, and more vines would grab them like crazy, and try to drag them toward Thorax. Actually....it wasn’t even Thorax anymore! It was..something else.

“ AHH! STARLIGHT!!!! “ Trixie screamed, being dragged toward the creature. The vine started lifting Trixie up, before Twilight and Starlight ran to help her. Twilight flew up, and grabbed Trixie’s front legs, and pulled. Starlight shot at the vine that was holding Trixie. It let go of Trixie real fast, but wasn’t able to grab her back again.

“ ..hhhh.. “ The creature hissed, and before trying to stomp on them with his long, spider like leg. Twilight, Spike, Starlight, and Trixie curled up into a corner, in fear. The creature got it’s face toward them in the corner, blocking any kind of escape. They all started to cry from fear, as the creature’s warm breath hit them. It let out a loud, and deafening screech, that could have actually deafened them, if they didn’t cover their ears. It scowled at them, before softening it’s expression. They noticed the ponies, and their tears. The creature stepped back, and started to shrink. The spider like legs went back into his back, and his entire body started forming back to normal. He collapsed, before blinking.

“ Ahh...ahahh? Guys? “ He moaned in pain, and confused. They all slowly came out of the corner, still a bit nervous. Thorax stood up, his legs shaking like crazy. He looked behind him, and saw the missing wall, and door. He gasped, and turned back to them.

“ ..Wha..What did I do.. “ He muttered, tearing up. Spike walked over to him, and tried to calm Thorax down. The others slowly came from the corner more, and Twilight spoke..

“ ..W-We..will explain.. “

“ How’s the wall looking? “ Spike asked, sitting on the ground, sipping a cup of tea. Twilight, Starlight, and Trixie were all struggling to fix the walls that “ It “, broke through. Twilight just looked down at the small dragon, that was sitting next to a napping Changeling. She deadpanned.

“ Ugh. “ She groaned, before getting hit in the face with a piece of crystal. Starlight looked at her, and said, “ Oh, I’m sorry! Did I do that? I don’t think I did. “ Twilight just rubbed her face.

“ Haha. Really funny. “ They were still mad at eachother, even after Spike tried to get them to make up. But, they still were just mad, and Spike just decided to not worry about mare drama. Spike just glanced at Thorax, seeing the guy blinking.

“ ..Eh? Wha.. “ He looked around, looking at Spike. Thorax just closed his eyes again, sighing.

“ You awake? Or are you just going to go back to sleep. “ Spike asked, patting the Changeling’s head. He just sat up, rubbing his head. Spike smiled, and went back to watching the unicorns, and alicorn working on the wall.

“ Are you..going to help? “ Thorax got up, asking. Spike shook his head.

“ Nah. They can do it themselves this time. “ He smirked. Thorax blinked, before sighing, trying to hide a giggle, before buzzing up to help the mares. Well, it wasn’t long before he got hit in the head with a crystal piece. Thorax froze, seeing Twilight, and Starlight having another argument.

“ I TOLD you! I didn’t do ANYTHING! “ Starlight defended herself, Twilight only scoffing.

“ I TOLD you, I don’t CARE! “ Twilight said, angry. Thorax watched for a moment, before flying toward them.

“ Guys, guys, guys! You two, are friends! How about, you just..talk..? “ Thorax suggested, Chrysalis just face-hoofing behind him. Twilight and Starlight looked at eachother, scowling.

“ ..I’m sorry for assuming you put some spell on Thorax, which you still probably did. “ Twilight added. Thorax just...stared. You don’t—add something to the apology, he knew this. That only made the situation worse. Starlight groaned.

“ I’m sorry, for trying to tell the truth! Because you’re too DUMB to understand! “ Starlight added. Thorax and Chrysalis just sighed, shaking their head softly, or just face-hoofing themselves again. Trixie seemed to feel the same.

“ Girls! Can we PLEASE work on this wall? “ Trixie rolled her eyes, still working on it.

“ Well, I would. But THORAX, said we had to apologize! “ Twilight said, a bit sounding like she was blaming him. He only wanted to help.

“ I was only trying to get you two to get along, instead of just bickering at eachother! “ He explained, Chrysalis just scowled at the two mares. Starlight and Twilight just looked at eachother one last time, before huffing, and getting back to work. Thorax sighed, before hearing a knock at the door.

“ I’ll get it. “ Spike got up, and walked to the door. He opened it, to see two younger mares. It was Lucy Diamond, and..another one. She had a brown mane and tail, and a crisp white coat. Her eyes were green, with a hint of blue. Spike blinked, before waving.

“ Hey there...you- “ He said, before the one pony just ran on in, not even caring that the small dragon was trying to speak.

“ Sugar! “ Lucy called, trotting in after them. Spike followed, as the two mares started to argue. Thorax watched, before flying down to greet them. Lucy glanced over at Thorax, and turned her head to him.

“ Thorax! “ She called, happily. She waved, Thorax waving back, nervously, before trotting toward them. He looked to the new mare. Who was she? He’d never seen someone like her before. The mare’s cutie mark appeared to be...a pack of sugar..and a few spices? It seemed rather...literal, to her name that is. Pretty implied to be honest. The mare turned to him, scowling for some...odd reason.

“ What’cha lookin’ ya m’ cutie mark for, Eh?! Got a problem?! “ She accused. Thorax stepped back.

“ What? N-No, no, no, not at all! “ He said, rather anxiously. Chrysalis just watched from behind. Why did she..get mad when all he did was look at her literal-name-implying cutie mark? It didn’t make much sense, but hey. Nothing makes sense here.

“ Sugar! Don’t be like that. “ Lucy scolded. Sugar huffed, running her hoof at the ground. Lucy sighed, before looking at Thorax.

“ I-I’m sorry about Sugar Spices. She’s just— “

“ Sugar Spices? “ He asked. Chrysalis just snickered. She got all offended, only to have her cutie mark apply to her name! How ridiculous.

“ Yeah, that’s her name. Pretty obvious, I know. “ She said, looking back at Sugar, awkwardly. Thorax nodded, before sighing.

“ I’m..sorry, for making her upset. “

“ Oh, no. It’s fine. She does that to everypony that looks at her cutie mark. “ Lucy said, rolling her eyes, Sugar over hearing, and glaring. Thorax nodded nervously, before walking up to Sugar Spices.

“ What do you want? “ She growled.

“ I’m sorry for..you know.. “ He apologized, Chrysalis just watching, not exactly WANTING him to apologize. It’s HER fault for getting offended everytime anything involves her cutie mark.

“ Oh, whatever, bug-face. “ She turned away, walking off. Thorax blinked, before sighing, his eyes shining green for a moment. He was trying to get along with this mare, but it’s SO hard if she won’t even listen! He watched as Lucy followed her. His attention turned to Twilight and Starlight, who were arguing again.

“ YOU KEEP HITTING ME! “

“ IT’S ON ACCIDENT, TWILIGHT! “ Blah, Blah, Blah, he had heard enough to know they were overreacting. It’s “ mare-drama “, like Spike said.

“ UGH! How much longer are they going to keep babbling their mouths! UGHH! “ Chrysalis complained, and he just shrugged.

“ It’ll take a while, bud. “ He patted Chrysalis’s head, which only made her even more mad. She slapped his hoof away, and he kept it away. After a moment, he heard a loud noise. It was Sugar. She was kicking at one of the walls of castle.

“ SUGAR! Don’t do that! “

“ Why not? It!s just a hunk of junk castle. “ She said, still kicking. Chrysalis looked up, and narrowed her eyes.

“ ..Huh. “ She blinked. Thorax drove his hoof at the ground a bit, which turned into a moderate drive, which turned into a extreme one. He trotted toward her, Chrysalis following, but she just crawled for no-real reason.

“ HEY! Hey, don’t kick the wall! “ He waved his hoof at Sugar’s hind legs. Pieces of crystal fell on the ground, there was little holes in the wall. She must be strong.

“ Why not? It’s dumb anyways. “ She kept kicking. Vines wrapped around her legs, lifting her into the air. She flailed around.

“ HEY! PUT ME DOWN! “ She demanded. Thorax just left her, walking away. Lucy tried getting her down, by ripping at the vines. They only grew spikes, and started piercing through Sugar’s coat. She started screaming, and yelling, but Thorax ignored.

“ T-Thorax! The vines! They’re- “

“ Yeah, I know! They’ll get tired eventually. “ He waved his hoof in the air, still walking. He was too frustrated with Twilight and Starlight’s feud, and Sugar’s entrance.

He was gonna take a break.

“ YOU STUPID BUG! “ Sugar screamed, angry. Her hind legs were bleeding like crazy, but were wrapped in bandages.

“ Tch. “ He rolled his eyes, them looking different. Lucy didn’t question it, and assumed it was a Changeling thing.

“ DON’T ROLL YOUR EYES AT ME, YOU—YOU—JERK! “ She hissed, shoving him. He only kept a straight face. After he was alone, peacefully, for 2 hours, Sugar and Lucy came, and he thought, here we go..

“ Look, just..shut up, and stop complaining. “ He said, stepping into the pool of water in the EverFree. Sugar just jumped on top of him, getting jabbed by his really large antlers. She screeched, before falling into the water.

“ Sweet Celestia, lady! At least keep SOME chill. “ He hissed, rubbing his head. She came up from the water, glaring. She leaped on him, avoiding the antlers this time, hitting his head.

“ GET OFF ME! “ He pushes her off, splashing water at her. She did the same. They both started just having a water fight. Lucy Diamond hooped in, stopping them both.

“ Guys, guys! “ She pushed them away from eachother. They both still tried to splash water at eachother, but Lucy blocked most of it.

“ Guys, let’s just...calm down, and— “ She didn’t finish, because Sugar pushed her away, and leaped on Thorax again. He just growled, and grabbed her with vines again, and threw her on the ground. She got up, and they started fighting once again.

“ UGH! GIVE IT A REST, GIRL! “ He slammed her into the water, frowning. Sugar just came up, but swam away. He just stayed in place. Lucy just looked at them both, and felt she needed to do something.

“ ..Ok, guys? Maybe we need to the talk this out? “ She said. Sugar just growled, and Thorax just shrugged.

“ ..What happened to your eyes? “ Lucy asked. Thorax blinked, and looked away. Sugar narrowed her eyes, and came toward him. He just blinked at her, nervously.

“ ..W-What are you doing? “ He asked, backing away. He climbed out of the pool, and backed away a bit more. Sugar climbed out after him, and grabbed him with her two front legs. She looked right into his eyes. His eyes looked like Chrysalis’s.

“ ..Oh my gawd. “ She blinked, looking deep into his eyes. He started to freak out. She shoved him to the ground.

“ CHRYSALIS! SHE’S STILL ALIVE! “ Sugar ran back into the water, diving in. He blinked, confused. He forgot that Chrysalis, along with Cozy Glow, and Tirek, got turned to stone. Now, that made him questioned now she even GOT into his body. Hm.

“ STAY AWAY YOU MONSTER! “ Sugar screamed, holding Lucy close to her. Thorax blinked, and got up. He just walked toward them, feeling a bit bad now. Sugar hissed, holding Lucy close still.

“ ..I-I’m Sorry. “ He sighed, before flying away. Sugar and Lucy watched, as the messed-up Changeling flew away, before he’d do something. Something bad.

“ ..T-Thorax? “ Lucy mumbled, Sugar letting her go.

“ Diamond, are you ok? Did that monster hurt- “ Lucy shoved her away. Sugar seemed surprised. Why did she..push her?

“ W-WHY DID YOU DO THAT?! “ She screamed, really upset at the moment. Sugar Spices could only blink. Was she insane?

“ W-What? “

“ W-Why did you call him a MONSTER! Sure, he did some..awful things to you, but he’s probably just stressed! “ Lucy Diamond yelled, getting out of the pool of water they were in again. The white coated mare just watched her, confused.

“ He’s NOT a MONSTER! I know, because he SAVED me once! “ She huffed, running her hoof at the ground. Sugar got out, and tried to comfort her.

“ But, that wasn’t HIM. That was CHRYSA- “

“ BUT IT WASN’T! “ She screamed, once again.

“ T-Twilight told me, that Thorax..he has a problem..with his ‘ SOUL ‘. He has an ISSUE with his body, Sugar! Sure, it has something to do with Chrysalis, but he’s a GOOD CREATURE! “ She started to cry, softly. Sugar..just watched for a moment, reaching out to her, before pulling away again.

“ ....I-I’m Sorry, Lucy.. “ She apologized. Lucy wiped her eyes, and looked at her.

“ ..I just..need to be alone.. “ She said, before walking away. Sugar watched, feeling awful. She WAS overreacting when she met Thorax. The things he did..was it out of STRESS? Was it really? Things did you rough at the castle, so..maybe..

She had to apologize. To both of them.

“ Where could he have gone? “ She asked herself. He flew away, as he wasn’t on the ground. She just followed a scent. A scent of sorts. A scent of stress, and sorrow. She had this weird ability, where she could sense feelings from afar. But, she didn’t have to use that anymore, as she found a trail of black goo on the ground. The scent was getting stronger! She started speeding up, trotting.

“ Huh? “ She stopped, when she saw the Changeling, sitting. He didn’t make any noise, but she sensed..stress. Anger, and sorrow at the same time? She didn’t have to step an inch, before he spoke, his voice echoing

“ What do you want...? “ He asked, not turning around. Sugar stepped closer.

“ ..I came to apologize. For calling you a monster.. “ She rubbed her leg. Thorax didn’t turn..say a word.

“ ..Lucy..told me about your problem.. “ She mentioned, and that made Thorax react. He sat up straight.

“ ..You do..Huh? “ He turned, his eye the same as it was before. Sugar winced. She HATED those eyes, because of that..TYRANT.

“ ..Y-Yeah.. “ She stepped closer. Thorax, then got up.

“ ......You’re right... “ Sugar got confused.

“ ..I am..a monster.. “ His voice changed for a moment. Sugar winced again, stepping back.

“ ..I can’t blame you. I’ve done harm before, because of this. So..I am a monster...and there’s no point in apologizing.. “ He stared, blankly, his eyes looking at the ground. Sugar sighed, and came toward him. She sat down, and looked at the ground.

“ ..Look, I..the reason I was so..rude, was because..my home, my family..got invaded. “ Sugar explained. Thorax looked down at her, his eyes shining. He sat down next to her, interested.

“ ..When I was 6, my house was invaded by a bunch of Changelings..the evil ones. They kidnapped my mom, dad, and big sister. They spared my little sister, because they thought she wouldn’t do well in their Hive. So, it was me..and my sister..alone. So..even after you all reformed...I still..hold some grudge against Changeling’s. “ She explained, wiping her eyes from tears. Thorax blinked, his eyes going back to normal.

“ ..I’m..so sorry.. “ He rubbed her back, but she didn’t mind at this point. “ You..You didn’t deserve that. You were alone, with no mom..or dad? That’s awful! But, we’re all good now. No need to worry anymore.. “ He smiled. The first time for a while.

“ ..T-Thank you, Thorax., “ She smiled, and giggled a bit. Thorax did the same.

“ No prob— “

“ GUYS!! “ Lucy scared them both, running into the room they were in.

“ L-Lucy! “ Sugar jumped up, and so did Thorax.

“ Guys, something’s wrong with the sky! “ She warmed, running out. They followed, and looked up. Thorax gasped. The clouds were dark purple, and the sun...was black? Then..he noticed something. T-The hybrids..they were in the sky!

“ ..Onyx.. “ He hissed. Sugar, and Lucy heard him, and got..a little worried.

“ Who? “ Lucy asked. Thorax grabbed them both, and hurried out of the forest, the mares riding his back.

“ T-Thorax! What’s going on?! “

“ I’ll explain later! We just need to get back to Twilight’s.. “

“ They’re coming.. “

Chapter 14: Onyx Star

“ What happened to the sky?! “

“ Onyx, Chrysalis! “ Thorax warned, still running to Twilight’s Castle. Chrysalis followed behind, staring at the sky. How could ONYX do this? It seems like more of Discord’s shtick. Once they finally made it, they pushed through the doors, and found Twilight, Starlight, Trixie, and Spike all arguing with eachother? Spike and Trixie tried to keep some peace, while Twilight and Starlight were the ones being immature. Thorax growled, and trotted toward them.

“ Can YOU TWO SHUT UP, AND ACTUALLY BE MATURE MARES?! “ He yelled, waving his leg around in the air. Twilight just huffed at Starlight, and then turned away. Thorax sighed. Being angry was hard.

“ Ok. Something’s up with the sky, and Thorax thinks it’s this ‘ Onyx ‘ guy. “ Sugar explained. That’s when all the mares, and Spike, got a little nervous.

“ W-What do you mean the sky?.. “ Twilight asked.

“ You didn’t go outside at least ONCE?! “ When he said that, they all exchanged glances, but only managed to pull a nervous smile. Thorax groaned, and headed back to the front door. He pushed it open, and looked at the others. He motioned for them to follow, as he stepped outside. Once they all did, they all got surprised. The sky had gotten worse. The sun was completely gone through the black, threatening clouds. The actual sky was purple, and was infected with those hybrids.

“ W-What the.. “ Trixie mumbled, backing away. Thorax looked around, and saw something odd from a distance. What appeared to be..black smoke surrounding Canterlot, came into view. Thorax blinked, before turning to the others.

“ Onyx is in Canterlot. We need to do something! “ He warned, buzzing up into the air. He picked up Sugar, and Lucy.

“ Twilight, you get Starlight and Trixie. “ He pointed at the two unicorns still standing on the ground. Trixie has to force Starlight onto Twilight’s back. Once she finally got on, they headed off. They tried to go quickly, since there were most likely a thousand of these things, and they succeeded. They landed, and saw that Canterlot, was completely empty. Did they evacuate? Did they get captured? Died..? No, that’s impossible..but to Onyx, it wouldn’t be.

” ..The whole place. It’s just..gone. “ Chrysalis shivered a little. Thorax never really saw Chrysalis scared in a while. Not until he turned into “ It “, then this was the second time. He started looking around.

“ .. “ None of them said a word, in this...bleak town, that used to be Canterlot. Twilight was devastated. What happened to Celestia? Luna? She hurried up to be beside Thorax.

“ T-Thorax, what’ll happen to the Princesses?! “ She asked, getting really anxious. Thorax didn’t even think about them. What would happen?

“ ..I don’t know. But, we’ll find out, as soon as we find Onyx. “ He sped up, getting closer to the castle. Once they got inside, they came to a halt. The residents of Canterlot were all tied up, tape covering their mouths. They were scared, and some were crying. Thorax could’ve sworn he heard a muffled scream, that made him shiver. Why..? Was this...fun, for Onyx?

“ ..God.. “ Thorax muttered, the breeze blowing eerily. Chrysalis followed behind Thorax, who was trotting toward some of the victims. He untied one of them, allowing freedom for them. One mare got up, and frantically looked around.

“ Y-You can’t b-b-be here..! “ She warned. She was a lime green coated mare, with wings, and a light blue mane and tail. She looked about the same age as Lucy and Sugar.

“ Wait...Dew Swing? “ Lucy called out. Dew looked to Lucy and Sugar, and her eyes started to water. They all ran to eachother, forming a group hug. Chrysalis just blinked, not all too interested in this reunion. She just wanted to know what was going on, who the ponies are, and why they’re here.

“ Dew, w-we thought you died! “ Sugar spoke, a little teary eyed.

“ N-No, I’m ok. I’m so glad to see you— “

“ a-HEM. “ Thorax interrupted. The three mares turned to him, all with watery eyes.

“ ..As great as it is to you all have found eachother, can we PLEASE discuss what’s going on here?! “ He pointed to the now-wrecked Canterlot. They all blinked, but Dew stepped away from here friends, to explain.

“ ..Onyx Star, invaded hours ago. Him, and his army, quickly took out the guard’s here. “ Dew started to explain.

” As pitiful as always. Hah! “ Chrysalis rolled her eyes. Thorax glanced at her for a second, before looking back at Dew Swing.

“ Before long, he had already took everypony from here, to Ponyville captive. Some of the guards were injured, some killed. When Onyx met the Princesses, he thought he wouldn’t be strong enough...but he was. His Dark Magic, and execution of others, made him stronger. He took out Luna, then Celestia, and held them captive too. Now, he and his army take over the place.. “ She finished, looking down at the ground.

“ ...Dew, we are so sorry..for not doing anything sooner... “ Thorax apologized, trying to comfort the Pegasus. She nodded, and gently glanced at him.

“ ..You can do something..right? “ She asked, which he didn’t know. He had been brought down by Onyx before, and Chrysalis was really the one who saved Spike, and escaped from his shed of sorts, just inside of his body. He didn’t know how to answer, but with: “ ..We’ll try.. “. Dew nodded, and turned to her friends.

“ ..Be careful.. “ She warned. They both nodded. Lucy and Sugar hugged Dew one last time, before looking to Thorax.

“ ..What now? “ Sugar asked, seeing as he’s the one who met Onyx Star first. He blinked, thinking for a moment. He wanted to confront Onyx himself again, just to see what he turned into.

“ ..Ok. Twilight, Starlight, Trixie, Spike, you help untie the other ponies with Lucy and Sugar, and get them to a safe place. “

“ Wait..what about you? “ Spike asked, looking up at him. He looked at the castle real quick, before looking back at Spike.

“ I’m going to see Onyx. Haven’t seen THAT monster in a while... “ He hissed under his breath at the last seven words.

“ B-But what if you get hurt! Last time, you.. “ Spike worryingly said, remembering when Thorax came to save him, but Onyx toppled him so easily. He’s was afraid of losing his friend, like how he almost lost him last time, if it wasn’t for...Ultra? Who..who was Ultra, actually. He didn’t have to time to think about that yet.

“ Spike, I’ll be fine. You all just focus on getting the ponies away from this place. “ He said, before opening his elytra. He was about to fly off, before Spike stopped him real fast.

“ Please, Thorax. Be careful..he took out the Princesses, for Pete’s sake.. “ He warned, worried for his Changeling friend. The Changeling nodded, and patted Spike’s head gently, before flying off.

“ Let’s make sure we don’t get cornered by those hybrid things, ok? “ Chrysalis said, as she scanned the area like a hawk. Thorax nodded, wandering around the place, trying to find the throne room, where Onyx would most likely be. He had been a while since he had been here, so it took him a while to find the throne room. Once he did, he was shocked. The two Princesses, Luna, Celestia, were tied to the ceiling. Fear were in their eyes, but they couldn’t speak, since tape was on their mouths too! He tensed up, before flying up to help them. But, before he could even reach them...

“ Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. You again? What a surprise. “ Onyx said from below. Thorax turned, and scowled.

“ ..Why are you here, Onyx.. “ He asked, flying down to the ground. Onyx smirked.

“ Why should you know? It’s none of your concern. “

“ It WILL be, since you’re ‘ army ‘, is causing chaos to my friends’ and other ponies’ home! “ Thorax stepped forward, pointing out a dire situation that was caused by the pony standing in front of him.

“ Ugh, it’s always about FRIEND’S, isn’t it. That punt dragon would’ve been in my army as well, before YOU came, and snatched him, because he was ‘ your friend ‘. “ Onyx rolled his eyes, not caring about the other ponies out there.

“ Ok? Then explain what you’re doing to the Princesses! Why are they apart of this? “

“ They’re the leaders, Thorax!~ The ones with great power! I figured out a spell strong enough to defeat them, and fortunately for me, it worked! So now, I’M in control.. “ Onyx looked to the two sisters, and back to Thorax.

“ Let me guess...Dark Magic? “ Thorax teased.

“ No, you IMBECILE! “ He growled, rolling his eyes.

“ Then..how? What kind of magic— “

“ Well, that’s something for me to know, and for you to find out! Now, if you excuse me.. “ His horn glowed, sending some kind of signal. A wailing siren noise came from his horn, which sounded awful to Thorax.

“ W-What the— “ He heard faint noises from down the hallway. Thorax’s antlers glowed, backing up. A hoard of hybrids came in, hissing and growling.

“ ..What the.. “ Thorax mumbled, looking over at Onyx, who was smirking at him. Before they could get any closer, the Changeling immediately shot at the hoard, out of natural reactions at this point. Most of them went down, but the rest of them still stayed. The rest of them started to run at Thorax, the unicorns blasting beam toward him. He dodged, and started blasting his own beams at them, more and more of them going down. As this was going on, he noticed Onyx taking out a spell book, but from here..he couldn’t read it. He watched as the unicorn read it, but still kept his focus on the hybrids. One managed to leap on his back, biting at his antler, which kinda hurt? But more, and more of them hopped on him, and he soon got backed into a corner.

“ Oh god.. “ He muttered to himself, trying to get the ones on him, off. He made a green aura around him, pushing the hybrids away as it forced them off himself.

“ Onyx? “ He watched, as the hybrids banged on the green shield. Was he just..reading the spell book? Is that what he had come to? He wasn’t as..threatening as before, but it seemed like the hybrids did everything for him. After a moment of the hybrids trying to get through the shield, and Chrysalis teasing them, Onyx stopped reading the book, and sent another signal. The hybrids backed off, as Onyx started toward the shield.

“ ..What are you doing in there, huh? Cowardly move, you know? “ Onyx teased, looking at the Changeling. Thorax just glared at him, before dropping the shield, and blasting at him. Onyx shot into a wall, before hitting the ground. He got up, and shot back at Thorax. He missed, and it went through the gap between his two antlers.

“ What? Is that all you got? “ Thorax snickered, vines growing from the ground, and grabbing the unicorn. This was way easier than before! The guy must be slacking from capturing the entire town, and Canterlot, AND the Princesses. The vines threw him into another wall, and this went one for a few seconds, before Thorax stopped, losing energy. As Onyx layed on the floor, Thorax stumbled toward him, only to stop, shaking a bit. Why was he so tired? Was it for fighting the hybrids? Was it something else? Everything started blurring again, just like his fist moments of this. He didn’t notice Onyx get up, and his horn glowing.

Next thing he knew. Everything went black.

Chapter 15: Escapism.

“ Thorax?! Thorax, can you hear me?! WAKE UP! “ Chrysalis kept trying to get Thorax to get up. She really started to panic, because if something happened to him, it would happen to her as well. She looked around the room, Twilight, Starlight, Spike, Trixie, Lucy and Sugar, and the Princesses were all knocked out.

“ P-Please! Thorax! W-Wha.. “ She panicked, pacing around for a moment. Was this fear? She didn’t like it, not one bit. She looked back to Thorax, before looking all around her. They were in a cell, with iron walls. She stumbled, and frantically jumped about. Why were they here?! Why was Onyx even..doing this? Because of his dumb cutie mark?! Revenge of sorts?!

“ ..Come on, Thorax.. “ She pleaded. They made it this far, she didn’t want him stopping now. She heard something. She turned to the bars, and saw Onyx Star, with a bandage on his head. She almost snickered, but she watched as he opened the cell door.

“ ..Wha?.. “ She backed away, watching as he walked in. She saw Thorax just lay there, unconscious, but still breathing. Was..Was Onyx going to do something to Thorax? What was he doing?

“ ..Heh. Pathetic.. “ He kicked at Thorax’s head, but there was no reaction, only silence. Onyx just trotted away after, locking the door behind him. Chrysalis blinked, before just sitting next to Thorax’s unconscious body. She sighed, and waited. She was going to wait, until he woke up. It’s all she could do anyways. She didn’t know if Twilight, or Spike could see her anymore..not after her long absence. Then, she heard a noise. The others were waking up.

“ Owww...what the... “ Sugar groaned, looking around. Chrysalis stared, nervously, before taking a step up. Maybe..she could..

“ T-Thorax?! “ Spike quickly ran over to his friend, who still wasn’t waking up. She stood behind Spike, just as scared as him for once.

“ Thorax, c-can you hear me?! Thorax..! “ He shook him, which did nothing. She couldn’t even tell if Thorax was breathing anymore. It was so..faint. She sat as close to him as possible, never feeling like this in years. They seemed to have a connection..not just sharing SOULS, but something else...

“ What happened?.. “ Celestia asked, softly. Spike looked at her, but didn’t say anything. He just hugged Thorax’s leg.

“ Please..come on.. “ Spike pleaded. Chrysalis put her hoof on Spike’s head, softly. She wanted to believe he was going to be ok, she wasn’t sure if they were going to get out of here without him. She heard Starlight get up, and her horn glow. She blasted a beam at the barred door, which only bounced off of it, and flew right into a wall.

“ Wow..that was sooo helpful. Keep doing that, and we’ll be out in no time! “ Twilight rolled her eyes.

” ..Come on, Thorax... “ Chrysalis prodded, putting her hooves on her head.

“ Ugh. Where’s Thorax? “ Starlight asked, before looking to Spike, sitting next to the limb body of the king with two SOULS. He let out a small, and weak cough, but that was all. Starlight’s eyes softened.

“ ..Thorax? “ She called out, worried. Spike shook his head.

“ ....I don’t think he’s waking up... “ He hugged the Changeling’s leg tighter, trying to keep his hopes up. Maybe he will wake up. Maybe he will. He HAS to wake up! He has to get us out of here.

“ ..Hehehe.. “ A voice giggled from afar. It was Onyx, again. They all glared at him, who was just giggling.

“ He won’t wake for a long time. So, stop hoping. I’m talking to you, small dragon.. “ Onyx smirked, making Spike a little upset. Twilight went to comfort her dragon friend, while Starlight just glared at him.

“ Thorax WILL wake up, and we WILL get out of here.. “

“ It’s really just THORAX, isn’t it. If he can’t beat me, no pony, or creature can~. “ He started walking away, still smirking. Starlight scowled, but ended up sighing.

“ ..Come on, Thorax.. “ She pleaded.

“ ..Wake up, you...you jerk... “ Chrysalis muttered. This was..going to take a while, huh..

“ ...Ughh.... “ Thorax groaned, looking up at the panicked, quiet, or frustrated ponies from afar. He sat up, and blinked.

“ Thorax! “ Twilight exclaimed, stopping her certain pacing. They all looked at him, but..Chrysalis was gone.

“ ..Guys, where..where are we? “ He asked, softly.

“ We’re in prison, Thorax. PRISON! “ Lucy whined. Thorax took a quick scan of the area, and realized they were all stuck in one of the cells in the castle. How long was he out? He walked over to the bars, and put a hoof on one. His antlers lit up, testing something. His antlers’ magic sparked, then went out.

“ ..Yeah, these bars are magic-proof. “ Thorax pointed out. They were..gonna need a new way out. A quick way out. Thorax began to pace, thinking. Everything was silent for a moment, before Celestia spoke up.

“ ..How long have you known this.. ‘ Onyx.. ‘ for, Thorax? “ She questioned. Thorax turned to her, and blinked. He sighed, and hung his head for a moment.

“ ..We met in a random forest, and I found out that he’s been capturing my subjects, and...killing them, for parts. I ran off, and we got into a fight...and then..Chry—I mean—I...scared him away.. “. Thorax explained. He wasn’t ready to mention Chrysalis yet. At least not to the Princesses.

“ I see.. “ She mumbled. Thorax immediately went back to pacing. He went going for about—minutes, non-stop, before being tripped. He landed on his face. He looked up, and Chrysalis looked down at him, scowling.

“ C-Chry—w-what are you- “ Thorax stopped, and got...hugged? By Chrysalis? Why? Was she worried about him?

” Y-You jerk... “ She muttered, shoving her face into his chest. Was she ok..? But, Thorax couldn’t help but smile, and hug her back.

“ ..I’m sorry, Chryssi.. “ He petted her head. She pulled away, blushing. He forced a giggle, before looking at the bars. Onyx was once again, standing there.

“ You’re awake, I see... “ Thorax just got up, getting close to the bars.

“ What do you want....? “ He hissed. Onyx looked to the two hybrids that were standing next to him, then looked back to Thorax.

“ Guards. “ He pointed to the spots, and they went there. He hissed, softly, at the Changeling king. Onyx walked away, once again. Thorax just glared, before looking back at Chrysalis.

“ ..We need to get out of here. “ He stood up, muttering. He looked at the bars, and rammed into it. When it didn’t work, he kept trying. The others just watched him.

“ ....Thorax, stop. It won’t work. Trust me, I tried.. “ Sugar Spices spoke. Thorax stumbled back. He shook his head, and looked to the others.

“ Well, I gotta try something! “ He complained, before grabbing a random pebble of the ground, and throwing it at the bars. He huffed, before walked up to it, turning around, and bucked at it. Twilight cracked a small smile. He was doing it wrong. He kicked one leg at a time, not two of them.

“ Thorax. You’re doing it wrong.. “ She remarked. Thorax huffed, before scowling.

“ Well, what else does anyone got, Eh? “ No pony said anything. He blinked, and sighed. The hybrids hissed loudly, scaring him. He stepped back into the cell, before ramming at the bars again, pushing them off. He hissed at them back.

“ Thorax, stop. “ Trixie said, blankly. Thorax shot his head around to look at her.

“ NO. I am NOT going to stop, until WE LEAVE. “ He stamped his hoof on the ground, determined. Trixie got up, and rolled her eyes.

“ There’s no point.. “ She kicked a small pebble toward Thorax. During these few days, he’s been on thin strings of patience, and the last few were snapping.

“ We AREN’T giving up. STOP this attitude, NOW. “ He demanded. Trixie only glared at him.

“ Just admit it! We’re stuck here! “ She yelled. He started walking toward her, tensed.

“ We AREN’T. We’re getting out of here as soon as we can break out of here, OK?! “ He stomped his hoof again.

“ Look, Onyx has the upper hoof here, so STOP. If he beats us, then that’s. It. “ She turned away from him. The last string snapped. His chest-gems glowed black. A vine grabbed her and pulled her toward him.

” DON’T TALK BACK TO ME, YOU—YOU—MAGICLESS UNICORN!! “ He screamed, the hybrids looking in. Vines grew everywhere in about—20 seconds. He stepped back, the vine dropping Trixie, freaking her out.

“ T-Thorax?! “ She exclaimed. Chrysalis stared, shocked. It was happening again...that transformation...it’s happening again. What if he loses it again?! His legs twisted, his wings changed, all torn, spider like legs sprouted from his back. He grew bigger, and bigger, and bigger. They all curled up in a corner, as he pushed his back up against the bars, and the wall above started to break. The bar-cell broke open, and he crashed into the wall, screeching. The hybrids retreated, running or flying off.

“ ....Thorax..?! “ Spike called out. He watched as the now, disformed Changeling lower down at face level. His black, melting, voiced eyes, gazing at them. They were all scared, but..it held out a twisted looking hoof. It tried smiling...but sort of failed. They hesitated, before they all climbing up on the hoof, pulling them out of the cell, and he started moving.

“ ..Be careful, Thorax... “
